"On the whole, my stay at this hotel was good" (107519451)

Good location; a short walk from Baker Street tube station and Oxford Street; friendly personnel

Poor attention to small but important details: knobs were missing in the wardrobe and in the chest of drowers; no lamp on the bedside table; the towel rack was broken

"State of room let down the overall experience. I didn't see any other rooms so don't know what they were like. General areas of the hotel were fine." (97313217)

Friendly, helpful staff. Nice continental breakfast in cosy dining room. Convenient for central London. Clean.

Room in poor state of repair - broken toilet seat, towel rail, bulb missing, broken drawer in chest.

"Don't stay here. Find another hotel in this area. Beds are old and very uncomfortable. There aren't enough pillows. The food is terrible. Front room of hotel is extremely noisy as it is right on the street. Fire alarm went off every morning for no apparant reason. It was the most ear piercing sound I've ever heard." (99768349)

Location is excellent. convenient to transportation and shopping areas.

Hotel is old and run down, food is terrible.

"The hotel was very basic but was all we needed, if someone was looking for a cheap break in London, it was ideal. However the directions were not very clear and it was a 10-15 minute walk to the tube as opposed to the 2 mins stated." (99260138)

    It had clean comfy beds

further away from tube than described

"The bathroom and shower were excellent and appeared to have been recently renovated. The room was small but adequate for a business stay but the bed was a 3/4, not a full double. Breakfast was okay, but the continental was not the usual so do ask what you're getting before you order it. Although We were on a high floor the room was noisy because of traffic (not the hotel's fault). However, the room had a very welcome cool air fan so we could close the windows. The traffic noise did stop sometime about midnight." (99727044)

The price and closeness to where I needed to be. Good clean bathroom and breakfast area, friendly and helpful staff.

The double bed was not really a double but a 3/4 bed so a bit cramped

within walking distance of oxford st.

very scruffy, needs to be decorated, did'nt have a guest room.

"This hotel is a 4/5 story victorian house so no lifts - be warned - we were in a family room on the top floor which meant climbing many stairs - fortunately we are a group of reasonbly fit females but had we been a family with young children or babies, the climb would have been impossible and potentially quite dangerous for young toddlers - having said that, the rooms were clean but very basic but reasonably priced for what you got." (99661366)

The accommodation was very basic although clean - our room was located on the top floor which meants we had a lot of steps to climb - good job we were fit!

For the money we paid, I couldn't really say I disliked anything - the room and furnishings were very basic but you get what you pay for at the end of the day but it was clean.

"The location is great, just two blocks from Oxford Street. Three blocks from St James street with all the restaurants. The family room is perfect, as it was really two rooms. One room has twin beds and the other has a double and they share a washroom. There is a small fridge in both rooms, so handy. The breakfast was a home cooked English breakfast or continental complete with good coffee. The staff was great. This hotel worked so well for our family." (3304211030)

The location and the room. The breakfast was good too.

There was a lot of traffic noise. I had to use ear pluggs.

"We asumed the two-star rating meant no restaurant, pool, bar, fitness center or business center. We didn't need these ameneties, but a clean hotel was important to us. We saw the hotel described on the website as clean and refurbished within the last few years. We were surprised at the dust and dirt, the flimsy furniture and the poor maintenance. Our bathroom shower curtain was moldy and the mattress was well past its prime. The windows were filthy and a previous guest had written Wash Me in the dirt." (3304169949)

The location, the full English breakfast, the mini-fridge and complimentary bottled water

"Staff were very friendly and helpful .The room was big, there was no bath in the ensuite but there was a shower which although wasn't very powerful was adequate enough for our needs. Beds were very comfy and there was little noise (although it was a quiet time of year and we were on the top floor). The location is very good, just a quick walk from Oxford street and tube stations are no more than ten minutes away. Breakfast was fast and meal was nice. Overall a much better maintained cheap priced hotel compared to the many other tiny and poorly maintained ones around London." (3304101402)

Cupboard doors, shower doors were broken and lock on door broke ( Howeverthis was fixed on the same day)

"I liked that there was a fridge in my room an en suite and tea and coffee making facilities. However, the bed in room 17 was very uncomfortable. There are a LOT of stairs and no lift - this may be an issue for some guests. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and the hotel is very centrally located. The facilities were all in working order and fitted the star rating of the hotel. It is a good hotel for those who don't need too much luxury and who plan to spend time sightseeing or on business. I thought the hotel was good value for money." (3304113342)

"The general cleanliness of the rooms could be slightly improved upon. The receptionist who booked us in (sorry didn't catch his name but he was a young lad) was very polite and helpful to us. He told us that there was complimentary water and juice in the fridge in the room but this wasn't restocked after our first nights stay when the room was cleaned. All in all though I would highly recommend this hotel for people on a budget." (3304140202)

They hotel was ideally located for my needs (Ease of access to attractions etc).

The room could have been decorated slightly better.

"Our room was on the 3rd floor and there was no lift - it could be a struggle for some people so you might want to request a room on the lower floors. However, the size of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast more than compensated for having to climb the stairs - we thought it was excellent value for money." (3304081937)

The room was large and had a fridge with complementary organge juice and water - a nice touch. The breakfast was great value for money.

The furnishings were comfortable and very clean but might not give the initial impression of a quality hotel - however it is very good value for money.

"Quite basic hotel but offered everything we needed for an overnight stay. It was about a fifteen minute walk from the Palladium theatreand a five minute walk from the heart of Oxford St. and the main bus stops. The price (£80) for a twin ensuite room for one night was good value and I would stay there again." (2430224)

Staff were friendly and we were able to leave our luggage in the lobby before we could check in and all day after we had checked out. This allowed us to use the most of our time and not have to worry about the safety of our bags or having to carry them around with us. Also the location for our theatre visit was excellent.

A little more choice for breakfast and air con. would have been nice but there was a fan in our room which was adequate until we had to sleep.

Good location very central with excellent bus and tube access

The key thing a tourist needs is a good comfortable bed - I found the beds in a poor state and they need upgrading especially the matresses
