Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"A very pleasant traditional style of hotel. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service very good. The hotel is certainly not modern and while the TV with freeview channels in each room was a nice touch, a television with sports channels in the lounge/bar would be nice, especially for the solo traveller." The room was very clean and the location to a nearby pub which also served excellent food was very good
Having internet access on my hotel stays is more than just a nice to have for me, in fact it is critical. The Internet access was not working at the hotel and luckily I had a backup plan or I would have lost a really big deal. Thanks to reception for printing out my documents for me however

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"This is the second time i have stayed at this hotel and this stay was more enjoyable than the first. For me the measure of idividual requirements was met, I just wanted to go to my room relax and have rest and comfort with some food on hand and that is what i got without the staff being too pushy. The food for breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly and courteous. I felt as they i was at home but with more luxury. would have no hestiation in recommending this hotel to others and they can be guaranteed that this will be my desired place to stay when in the area." (97292866)
As a lady travelling by myself this hotel offered comfort, safety and a real home away from home experience. Lovely food in comfortable surroundings at a very reasonable rate

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings".We were fairly well informed about the hotel when we booked as our reason for staying there was to attend a 50th wedding anniversary party (not at the hotel). The daughter of the couple whose anniversary it was had had her wedding reception at the Egerton House and it was on her recommendation that we booked this. Apparently at this time the hotel was owned by a chain, but of course now it is privately owned, AND FOR THE BETTER. The present owners are trying very hard to give good service in a friendly manner. Further to our stay, we are now considering booking for their Christmas festivities as this seems to be good value for the standard of the hotel. We cannot fault it." (99859467)
This was a very pleasant, cosy, privately owned hotel, very peaceful, being in its own grounds with no traffic noise. The bedroom was pleasing furnished with traditional decor, not a modern purpose built hotel.
Only complaint could be, small as it may be, that the doors into the bedroom and bathroom could have done with a coat of paint, i.e. paint chips on the doors.

Equally pleasant public rooms including lounge, bar and dining room. A hotel of character at a reasonable price. Very good value for money Staff all very friendly and efficient. Breakfast first class. Only minor criticisms - Reception on TV erratic. Dinner not served on Bank holidays. Definitely to be recommended." (3305261889)

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"This hotel is in a prime location with lovely views of the surrounding moors. The interior decor is traditional and comfortable with many nice touches like flowers etc. The lounge areas were especially nice - lots of comfy sofas etc. The only down sides were the very hard bed & lumpy pillows and the shower that only had one temperature - lukewarm!! We did report the shower on checkout but had the impression that nothing would be done about it!! - The receptionist was quite noncommital about our comments." (3304985522)
The room was spacious with good decor. The hotel is in a lovely setting, the lounge/dining areas were very welcoming and attractively finished. The staff at breakfast were extremely friendly and accomodating.
The bed was incredibly hard, the pillows were thin & uncomfy. The shower thermostate didn't work & therefore only had one setting - lukewarm!!!

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"Some information of the surrounding area and places of interest would have been helpful, but as we were in the area for a specific reason this was not so important on this visit, we liked the location of the hotel as it was close to the town and also within minutes we could be in the countryside. It would be useful to have some infromation on evening meals, and a sample of the menu available to veiw. in conclusion our stay at the hotel was a very pleasant experience." (3304772522)

Staff were friendly and courteous." (3304696202)
Quiet, good location, nice grounds, good furnishings in lounges.
We were the only guests staying there (surprisingly), therefore we didn't have the option of dining there in the evening (restaurant closed). For the same reason the hotel lacked a bit of atmosphere. However on a previous visit including a Saturday night it was busy and overall pretty good.

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"Very relaxing stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very quiet situation of hotel even though set back from busy road. Nearly missed hotel due to road sign indicating hotel directly opposite on right side of road. Weather was wonderful and shows hotel in best light with lovely gardens (as shown in promotion photo) where you can sit and enjoy a drink. This is an old fashioned hotel without the mod cons - satellite TV etc. but would use again as I enjoyed the peace and quiet." (3304680879)
Room very cosy, but spacious. Good views of grounds.
Shower was just a trickle, didn't expect a power shower but just a normal one. Bed spread and curtains could benefit from a cleaning.

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"First bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly. Moved to another room but unfortunately the toilet pan was exactly if not worse than the first. Bath tap dripped. Cold tap on sink moved around. No bathmat. TV not functioning properly. When pointed out to the staff they did however try to rectify problems. Had breakfast about 9a.m. but unfortunately think the bacon and susages had been cooked long before that as they were black in parts. Otherwise fine. We did get a reduction in price but we would rather have been satisfied at the quoted price as it did take the edge off our stay." (3304383563)

Traditional comfortable feel to the premises, with relaxing lounge areas and nice aspect
We stayed on a special offer of cheaper rate and felt that it was a fair price. If I had stayed inthe same room and paid full price I would have been slightly disappointed as even though a lovely room, it was not exceptional for the area.

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is situated in a quiet and pictoresque location and is beautifully set amidst gardens. The rooms are spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard with all the amenities you would expect. The hotel itself has much character and I couldn't fault anything with my stay from the room to the staff to the meals except perhaps that I found drinks in the bar overpriced, in my opinion, but it is such a comfortable place to be." Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"We had a very warm welcome, little touches, mince pies on reception. As we travelled with our 2 year old daughter, we were so pleased how special the staff made us all feel. Dinner was served for us in the bar area, even though the staff were busy with xmas bookings, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was cosy just the thing after a long drive. Breakfast was lovely, self serve on Sunday, good value for money. Would come back, for sure." (3304021894)
Lovely victorian building, decorated beautifully for xmas. Bar area v cosy, food v good. Good value for money. Room was cosy but still spacious, staff very helpful and friendly. Good location for central manchester approx 25 mins off peak. Good for Burnley and blackburn.
A bigger sign post to direct you off the main road, but we found it first time. A health suite or swimming pool would have been excellent.

I also overheard her talking about us and moaning because I had asked for champagne and strawberries in the room (it was a special occasion after all). Apart from that everything else was wonderful especially a little lad who was working there and one of the most polite people ever!! ;)" (2390357)

Egerton House Hotel, Bolton - Reviews & Ratings"Would have liked some information on website about meals available including prices and proximity to local attractions/places of interest. Could do with sign on road as currently obscured by trees when coming from Blackburn direction. Overall though we were made very welcome and we enjoyed our room accommodation and tasty English breakfast and very helpful reception and restaurant staff. Wish we had more time to have a meal/drinks in hotel and peruse the lovely grounds, possibly with afternoon tea on lawn area." (2057562)
Hotel in lovely secluded grounds with nice view from restaurant. Nice spacious and luxurious room with adequate facilities.
Within limited time at hotel, difficult to comment on areas for improvement - overall experience enjoyable and would like to return for longer stay in future.

Clean hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Excellent food. Wonderful country views.
The shower could do with being a bit more powerful. Gravity just isn't enough to rely on.
