Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"The Old Vicarage is perfect for an overnight stay and very close to both the A1 and the M62. It has been sensitively converted and extended so as to maintain the character of the original building. The rooms are immaculate and the facilities modern and of high quality. It is extremely well run by a friendly and professional proprietor with loyal and supportive staff. Very highly recommended." (97523994)
The building, the room, the facilities, the breakfast and the proprietor. In fact, everything!
Nothing. However, some may find the immediate locality of limited interest.

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"Good location if travelling to York and you need a base, good pub up the road and very quiet in the evenings. Rooms were excellent and the property itself looked great. Would recommend." (97002613)
Unintrusive staff, good clean room in a quiet location - excellent for an overnight stay
Other than an extremely minor point (the beans were luke warm in the breakfast) - nothing to dislike

The hotel was a beatifully kept, period building. The rooms were nicely decorated and in keeping with the age of the building.
It was slightly further away from York than I'd thought.

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"We greatly enjoyed our stay over New Years. We were looking for a quiet, secluded place from which we could access York, and the Old Vicarage was perfect. Contrary to an earlier review, there is in fact a gastropub serving excellent meals less than 5 minutes walk away, and the owner of the B&B kindly provides a list of restaurants and pubs further afield. York is easy to access via a nearby park&ride. The breakfast was excellent, and the atmosphere could not have been more charming and relaxing. The B&B's garden looks lovely and would be beautiful to sit out in in the summer." (99900470)
Charming, individualized rooms and a friendly, discreet owner...this B&B is perfect for a romantic retreat! The large bathtub and comfortable bed were wonderful.

The Old Vicarage is full of character and the beautiful room we stayed in was spotlessly clean with great attention to detail.

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"Everything you need for a bed and breakfast stay in a home from home extremely comfortable suite. All of the extras meant it was possible to make the most of the room, to eat in relaxed comfort rather than going out to eat if you didn't want to. Particularly if you've had a long or tiring journey. A great break for 1 night or more and if visiting York a less expensive and much higher standard alternative to the pricey hotels in the city centre - which we've also experienced. The commute is worth it." (99052465)
Exceeded expectation - lots of unexpected extras. Microwave, fridgefreezer inc. ready made ice, cutlery, condiments, plates, mugs, cups, wine glasses, chocolates, bath robes etc. etc. the list goes on.

The whole atmoshpere was pleasant. The room was lovely and the staff was welcoming.
Thin walls between rooms. A noise curfew would have improved our stay (i.e., turn off television sets no later than 11 p.m.)

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"The Old Vicarage far exceeds expectations of a Country B&B. The proprietor,a charming lady, provides all that is required to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and whereas it is only a B&B, there is good food served very close by in the village. We will certainly return!" (99050099)

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel had excellent off road parking - very important when you have a classic or luxury car. The breakfast room and lounge were tastefully decorated and furnished making for a really relaxing atmosphere. The only problem was the lack of establishments serving evening meals within walking distance. We missed our 'Teasmade' in the morning but Health & Safety frowns on their use." (3305263928)
Beautifully appointed room with delightful use of fabrics and a superb view of the lovely garden.

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"First class accomodation, beautiful house with a great deal of thought given to the comfort of the guests. locality was a bit disappointing and the lack of eating establishments in the area to get a good evening meal was a little disappointing. Easy access to York and other attractions by car." (3305123166)
The accomodation was beautiful and well appointed the room was a little cramped but that would be our only critism. The welcome was friendly and the breakfast very good
The accommodation was disappointing in terms of its immediate location and the lack of choice for evening meals etc in the area. However the accomodation was well situated for easy access by car to York and other areas of interest.

Old Vicarage, Selby - Reviews & Ratings"It was like stepping back in time, you were imediately at peace when you entered the 'Vicarage'. Clean, tidy, and beautifully decorated, the attention to detail was excellent. This is not for the young set(if they are seeking a late bar)the residence is more suited to a peaceful and gentile experience. There are a number of hostelries nearby for food and drink. The location was a superb base for travelling around Yorkshire, the area is peppered with golf courses and places of interest for the tourist. The 'Vicarage' is a welcome refuge at the end of a long hot day and there is always a refreshing cold complimetary drink waiting for you at reception. I commend the The Old Vicarage Hotel to anyone who appreciates style, quality, peace and wonderful nights sleep." (3305091221)
The gentility, attention to detail, the decor and the service provided by professional and friendly staff. Ideally located as a base to tour in Yorkshire

The way the hotel has a really loved and cherished feel to it.the excellent breakfast the choice would have done a four star proud. being a veggie was no problem at all, although I did not give prior notice.

Very tastefully appointed and uncommonly spacious rooms. Very good quality breakfasts promptly provided without feeling rushed. Within the rooms, the meal area, and the back garden one felt relaxed and pampered.
Distance from York was further than we realized (a good 20' by car) and the general environs of the Inn are basically a very small village surrounded on all sides by large Coal-powered electric plants.
