Good location, nice room, good breakfast
No access to health club treatments (needs to be booked in advance!) Room had a problem with house flies? I killed four. Fit fly screens to windows or find source.

Location and surroundings beautiful
Service was dreadful. Took 1 hour from ordering lunch and coffee to receiving them. When we eventually received them they were cold. We had to enquire twice about them. No appology was given and we were charged the full amount.

Excellent food and bedroom.
The barman did not know the difference between Sherry and Port and on two separate occasions, we were served wine in a dirty (lipstick smeared) glass.

During the day the room was comfortable, secluded and the facilities within it were acceptable.
At night as the hotel went quiet we realised that we had an air vent/fan directly outside the room window. This kept us awake most of the night.

Excellent service from the friendly staff with facilities to match
The small restaurant lacked atmosphere (you could hear a pin drop even though most tables were full so could have benefitted from some low level background music). The food and service, however, were excellent.

Very clean and neat. Large LCD screen television. Nice layout and design. very quiet (that is after I changed)Plus the greatest bed I have ever slept in!
I had to move from the bedroom I was given first as the fans of the spa were very noisy including inside the room!

I had stayed at Wood Hall before and have always enjoyed the location and facilities - on this occassion the room upgrade added to my stay
The only downpoint to Wood Hall is that it's location means it is a bit isolated and you need to drive to get to any other facilities such as restaurants etc (not a big issue though)

Dissapointed that the hotel had no air conditioning facilities considering the price of a one night stay - most budget/economy hotels have this facilities and it was something that we would have expected

There were no minus points about my stay at all (other than the difficulty on arrival - maybe a drop off area would sort this). It was a wonderful and calming break. The staff were very professional but also very warm and welcoming. My favourite hotel in England definitely!!!!!!!" (3304931194)
It was so quiet, like being miles away from civilisation. Also I wasnt cooped up on the premises, there were walks within the grounds . The gardens were lovely.
The only problem was that the front car park was closed when I arrived due to a wedding. This meant I had to drag my case quite a way.

Dinner was lovely, aside from the fact that I was disappointed with the quality of the beef tenderloin. It was on the thin side, lacking the velvety texture that one expects from a fine cut of beef fillet. Another slight disappointment was the wedding party apparently took up much of the tenancy, as the Drawing room and Dining room were a bit quiet on the night. We will consider asking the ratio of party guests to individual guests when deciding on a location in future." (2812459)
I liked the ecclectic charm of grand period country house - meets contemporary moderninity. The ambience is cozy, warm, and welcoming.
I think 11:00 checkouts are a bit unfair. It leaves me with the feeling of being rushed out. Midday seems most fair from the perspective of hotel and guest.

All i can say is that the decor is fantastic - i love the understated high tech feel which marries so well with the old country house. Full marks to the interior designer !! Decor was superior. Food, service, friendliness and facilities were all excellent.
Very hot weekend and no air-conditioning although you could get a fan if requested, it would have been nice to have just had it there.

Meal in the restaurant was excellent, and service was the best i have ever received - anywhere. "Room not ready on arrival at 4pm. Indifferent attitude from Reception Staff. Room dark depressing and very noisy (after requesting a quiet room). Poor cleanliness. Service at breakfast was excellant, but service at dinner was poor. After complaining and being persuaded to give them another chance the service was impeccable. The food was excellant throughout our stay. Unable to regulate the temperature of the shower (permanently too hot) - Ineffective follow up by reception staff, to the point of implying we were not operating it correctly. Returned to room one night to find door ajar and furniture etc. in disarray - receptionist offered two excuses before admitting she had sent the Maintenance Man to the wrong room (who had presumably left it in that state). The final insult was being overcharged on the bill." (97246540)
