"Accomodation in Brighton - especialy at seaside - is expensive. You have to keep this in mind. You will not find the same standard for the same price then at other towns. If you know that, you will not aspect to much and you can enjoy your stay." (108418870)

The staff was very friendly and helpful!!! The hotel is close to seaside, pier, center and Royal Pavillion. Our room had seaview - nice.

The window frames should be painted.

I was really impressed, the staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful, the room was very clean with very nice design, lots of details like shampoo, a nice table, free room service for breakfast etc etc..

    Narrow stairs, many stairs

"We stayed here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time, the suite was beautiful, with sea views, and a huge king size bed that was so comfortable, breakfast was sent up to our room every morning, at a time specified by us, we had the continental breakfast which offered a wide choice, and was more than enough to keep us going until lunchtime. the staff where so friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. We cant fault anything about the Amherst, everything was perfect, and has given us some wonderful memories. Cant wait to stay there again!" (108013624)

spotlessly clean, friendly helpful staff, good food, good location,

lack of parking (but not a huge problem)

"Great location just 2 minutes walk from the pier and about 5 mins from some great restaurants. Interior was a very high quality and was very contemporary design. The bedding was wonderful and the bathroom fittings and Molton Brown products were excellent. The room was very small and compact and as mentioned with the courtyard bar directly below our window it was very hard to get to sleep with all the noise. The option of having breakfast served in the room was first class as was the food itself. We were given lotsof options regarding parking by the lady who checked us in. The room had everything you needed and more, it just felt rather small and would not be suitable for a long stay." (97617923)

Quality of the fittings and bedding were excellent. Enjoyed the Molton Brown products on the bathroom and the breakfasts were very good.

Unfortunatley we were staying in rom number 4 which was at the back of teh hotel and a newly opened bar with courtyard had recently opened. If you wanted to go to bed before 1am even with the window shut it was very noisy and spoilt the stay.

"Overall the hotel is great. I have stayed in other seafront hotels that come no where near the standard of the Amherst. It is spotlessly clean, breakfast is freshly cooked (not pre cooked and self service!) staff are helpful and so welcoming and friendly." (99796462)

The hotel is well situated for the seafront. The owner was friendly and welcoming as were all staff encountered. The Breakfast is excellent and no waiting either, once seated breakfast arrived! Wonderful experience at this hotel

"The hotel was in a lovely location - short walking distance to the pier and all the buzzing places to go but on a quiet street where you dont get disturbed. The hotel itself is small but very nicely decorated. As you walk in you have a chic dining/reception room. The staff were very friendly and check in and check out was short and sweet. We stayed in a junior suite which had a balcony where you could view the sea which was great. The room itself was of a nice size with very clean and neat fixtures. The bed was gorgeous, we wanted to take it home! So comfortable and white and soft, which made it hard to get up...but when the large breakfast came on time it made it a little bit easier..! You can choose from a wide selection of breakfast items and as much as you like and is cooked to perfection and you can tell only the finest ingredients are used. The bathroom was great - the shower very powerful and a good start to the day. Basically the whole experience from start to finish left you feeling calm, looked after and wanting to stay again. Highly recommended." (99609698)

"Not much else to say apart from keep up the good service. You made my birthday weekend in Brighton very special. At my request you provided champagne and chocolates for our arrival. There was no pressure on checking out dead on 12. The breakfast and papers were brought into the room by two cheerful young ladies which was really nice. The breakfast, by the way, was delicious! If I had to be critical about anything it would be the banging old windows, but they were easily dealt with (a magazine wedged in the side)." (99895916)

The very personal sevice provided by the staff made a nice change to the robotic functioning you sometimes get at larger hotels. The bed was ultra comfy and accompanied by a good central heating system. The shower was very nice and everything in the room worked!

The windows were old and needed wedging on the second night when it was very windy but it wasn't a problem.

"From the moment we arrived at the hotel, you could sense the welcoming and inviting environment! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are located over 5 floors, two on each, which makes it very cosy but as we were on the 5th floor it was a real treak up all those stairs, especially after a night out!! Well worth it though as you could see the sea and pier from our rooms windows, a beautiful sight at night with all the lights! There isn't a lift so isn't really suitable for less able people. A wonderful and filling breakfast was served in our room, you chose your menu the night before and get fantastic homecooked food at a time you request. Check out was smooth even though we didn't want to go!!" (99944175)

The whole experience was a pleasure! The hotel was very well located, within walking distance of the sea front, pier and shopping centre. The room was full of all home comforts and bed was very comfy!!!

Nothing really, Parking was a problem due to its central location but we did find pay to park on the surrounding roads.

Room has big TV, DVD, Sofa so you can really chill out the morning after the night before! Having breakfast in your room is great. A sheet was given so we could choose what we wanted for breakfast inc quantity of sausages, bacon, etc - Everything was of a very good quality, you can tell the hotel prides itself on using quality products and preparing it well. I would recommend the Amherst Hotel to friends, family. Rooms can be found about " (99206824)

"A smaller hotel, good position, friendly service and excellent food! Sea view (just about). We were in room 7 which is a few flights up, but as long as you are reasonably fit should be no problem. Junior Suite was a little small, but very comfy and excellent decor and bedding! Really felt at home, and a bit special when breakfast was brought to our room at the time we ordered! The extra's in the room were a welcome touch!I have recommended this hotel to all my friends, who were very impresses by my views." (99870516)

We booked the Junior Suite and the room was lovely and comfortable with King size bed! Service was excellent and lovely touch of bringing breakfast to your room!Quality was excellent! Staff friendly. Overall a lovely experience in Brighton! Especially as i am aware some hotels/guesthouses leave a lot to be desired!

Nothing! The room was excellent. A bit smaller than anticipated, and a bit pricey but overall thought it was worth it for the comfort, cleanliness and excellent breakfast. Have already recommended!

"This is a lovely hotel - easily the best I have stayed in in the UK. Provides very good value for money given the quality of furnishings, service, room size, bathroom size, excellent range of breakfast choice (and very high quality food), very helpful staff, DVDs to borrow, sky tv, ... Is situated close to beach and Pier, and about a 15min walk from the train station and Churchill Square shopping centre. Great to stroll to one of the sea-side cafes for morning tea with newspaper and enjoy the weather (if you go in Spring/summer anyway ;-) ). Second time I have stayed here and again a great experience. If you are staying in Brighton - this is the place to stay." (3304799178)

The hotel is a boutique hotel in Lower Rock Gardens, just 2-3mins from the beach and about 5mins from the Brighton Pier. Its a really lovely hotel - big rooms, exceptionally well fitted out, real style to the furnishings, nice bathroom, excellent facilities (sky tv, dvd player, top-range TV), nice (free) snacks in room. Breakfast is excellent and server to room if desired - very generous, organic and free-range food. The staff are very helpful and friendly. A nice breakfast room/tv room on ground floor for sharing.

I can't think of a thing really... If you have lots of luggage ask for a room on a lower floor as no lift.

"when we started to look for a hotel in Brighton we read the reviews for the Amherst which were all excellent and proved to be true to their word. The Amherst is located in a central location with lots of restaurants and cafe bars only a couple of minutes walk away. We informed the hotel of our arrival time (which was before 12) a couple of days before and when we arrived our room was ready, we were led to the room on the second floor (no lift) it was large and bright and we were very impressed, and we had an excellent sea view. All the rooms and the public areas are very clean. We decided to take the option of breakfast in our room the following day, but there is a small dining room downstairs, the food was brought to our room on time and the choice and quality of the food is excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel for a short or even a long break you will not be disapointed." (3304101362)
