  excellent breakfast friendly and helpful staff

  staying in an English country hotel we expected a choice of English dishes at dinner. We were very surprised to find only Indian food served for dinner (and we were not the only ones). Bad lighting Room very dark and dismal bedcoverings very old fashioned and heavy general decor needs complete updating beds very hard - a choice of different types of mattress would be appreciated

  ideal size hotel not too big nor small breakfast good ample parking

  creaky floorboards!! horrible teabags! tiny shower cubicle loose headboard - pillows kept going down behind bed and wall

  "A pleasant experience" (108048033)

  Comfortable hotel set in pleasant, quiet surroundings and very reasonably priced. Staff were excellent and looked after us very well. Lovely garden - shame it was raining most of the time

  Nice building. Good location

  Room wasn't as clean as I would have liked. The service could have been better with the breakfast, alot of things had run out and we had to keep asking.

  "Overall very good-particularly helpful in regards to checking in early before going to my friends wedding. However the statue just inside the front door did scare the living daylights out of me as we staggered in feeling like naughty children!" (97548097)

  The conservatory was nice, and the general decor was quite nice too.

  Breakfast was a little sparse-could be better (at no extra cost to the hotel) to just ask what people want so as to substitute a tomato for some more mushrooms or similar! Not a bad point but just a bit strange to be asked what drink I'd like to have at breakfast when checking in!

  "Most disappointing. Very unlikely to stay there again." (97277424)

  When booking we not informed that the Hotel was undergoing renovation. Our room was tired and in need of decoration. The shower produced cold water only.

  We asked for Rooom and Full English breakfast. this was confirmed when booked. On arrival swe were informed that the kitchen was not working since work was being carried out in the Hotel. We had no option but to accept a 'continental' breakfast in our room which had no facilities or space for two people to eat!!

  "The staff were friendly and helpful. The overall impression of the hotel was that it was clean and tidy but the decor was stuck in the 1980s - definitely needs updating! Breakfast was good - plenty of food and well cooked and presented. The room was of adequate size - big enough but I would have preferred bigger - and the en-suite was only a shower. Both the bedroom and the ensuite were very clean and tidy." (97275279)

  Hotel only 15 mins from Ascot Racecourse, was clean and the staff were friendly

  Overall the accomodation was dated and a bit tatty - the paintwork needed redoing, just to freshen it all up, and the decor could do with updating

  "Great value for money, excellent parking, lovely staff, food was excellent. Brilliant bar service and the dining room is to die for. There is an excellent room service and the food was top notch." (97216178)

  Clean and welcoming. Shower was a little on the tired side but overall, v good

  "A nice enough place with a good atmosphere. Price good for location. Shame about the miniscule room, and the bedroom carpet definitely needed a shampoo. Decoration throughout a bit tired." (97729900)

  Bed and bathroom spotlessly clean.

  Room very tiny. I was offered a bigger room on arrival - but I refused as it would have meant paying more. Shower was so small I found it difficult to bend down in it. And I am only 9 stone!!
