Excellent food and main reception rooms were of a high standard and the staff were friendly helpful. The garden area was lovely.
My room was well past it's best and it was dusty and a little grubby. It clearly hadn't been used for a while, but it is unusual to find a single room these days. It wasn't particularly clean, the main effort to spruce it up had been to open the window. Hairdryer not working, but I was given one when I asked.

clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast followed by awlk along the beach.
The tiles in the bathroom a lot were cracked and badly in need of sorting out. There was a loud buzzing/fan type noise the whole time which was audible even when the window was shut. This was traced to some equipment that was wall mounted just below our room(101)

The menu at dinner had good choices on it and the staff were very helpful. The accommodation was clean and all round we enjoyed our stay.
In parts the furniture and floor covering were a bit tired.

The accommodation matched the price per room. Reasonable price for a clean, large room. Daily cleaning, bathroom etc. was of a particularly high standard.

staff helpfull as when my wife booked in they changed our room so that we were above the party that was booked for sat night
just a bit too noisy but there was a birthday party that night and unfortunately due to the smoking rules everyone til the early hours were drawn to stand out under our window as that was the nearest place they could smoke

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"Not cheap for what it is, in a economically poor area. The on-line booking was OK, but you had to note and click to get the single supplement - not obvious.Couldn't see an option for a smokers room. Parking was OK, but not secure. Didn't eat there, so can't comment. Staff seemed friendly enough. Over-priced for location." (99692045)
Bedroom OK and bar
The cleanliness of the bathroom, and maintenance of tiles - cracked and taped over - and holes in carpet in corridoors. Looking sad and neglected

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel was sufficient for my business purposes but the standard of the room would have been disappointing (at the price) for a leisure break and all pervading smell of cigarettes would have sent my wife heading straight for the exit." (3305479919)
Friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfasts (so good to have the fishy options).
Decor in the room was tired - worn chairs and bathroom furntiture. Shower had to run for five minutes before barely more than a dribble appeared. Room and corridors smelt heavilly of cigarette smoke.

Friendly and efficient staff. Food was good.
My room needed decorating. The wall paper was peeling off the wall. The carpet was disgusting. The window would not close properly. The towels were stained.

The staff.
The high temperature and inability to open the large beddroom window. The litter on the steps leading to the lower level (beach). Smoking in public areas. Well I am from Scotland and going into a smokey bar is now a shock.

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"Room - small with no view what so ever. Although shabby was clean. Also being the first room at the top of the stairs, very inconsiderate guests passing the room late at night were noisy. Breakfast - everything was fine on the first day, second day, no baked beans and no brown bread. Plus the scrambled egg was not recognisable as such. Night Porter - beware the late night reveller! I arrived back at 2am and could not get into the hotel. Despite ringing the night manager bell and hammering on the door! Fortunately the taxi driver had waited to make sure I got in safely, he phoned the hotel, and eventually when someone answered the phone, told them that one of their guests would like to get in. The night porter and the duty manager were both standing in the foyer, looking guilty! Weddings - check if they have a wedding booked when you are staying, the music is very loud and played until past midnight. Fine if you are a guest at the wedding, not so fine if you are trying to sleep after a days travelling." (3304982947)
Nothing, oh not true the shower gel smelled nice.
Room very small, although I requested a single room I did not expect to get the broom cupboard. Also the decor in the room could have done with an update and the bedding was way past its use by date. The view from the room was of a wall and the ventilation for the kitchens. So if you are a single traveller and are offered room 107, ask for another!

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was very well positioned for Gorleston beach but it was a bit difficult to get to Great Yarmouth with some large traffic jams. There were two things that marred the holiday a little. One male member of staff was very abrupt at breakfast and I have to say it put us off using the hotel for our evening meal. The second was an issue of parking. There was a wedding on the Saturday and the guests filled the car park and parking area surrounding the hotel. The manager did find us a spot behind the kitchens after we complained but the following day a member of staff parked awkwardly and made it difficult for us to get out. The hotel has a small parking area at the rear which was full but if the hotel made this a residents only car park it would at least ease the situation a little. We would recommend this hotel but I believe that people should be warned about the traffic problem getting into Gt Yarmouth." (3304811172)

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"Very good quality accommodation. However at breakfast some items listed on the hotel menu cards were not offered eg fresh grapefruit, cold meats, muffins and croissants. Was the small number of guests staying on the Sunday night a contributory factor to the limited choice at breakfast? The sole waiter on duty at breakfast only topped up the jugs of fruit juices when his attention was drawn to it." (3304697865)
High quality fittings of the bedroom, quietly situated with a sea view.
Bath enamel needed attention. Hot water was at best tepid in the evening (not warm enough for a bath or shower) and only lukewarm in the morning.

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"We love the hotel and have been twice so far. The reason we picked this hotel in the first instance was because it was dog friendly and on the beach. We didn't hesitate to return. Also the staff are very friendly, especially the male waiter who served us for breakfast, nothing was too much trouble and he was incredibly polite." (3304603430)
The room was large and the hotel was pet friendly. It is also in a beautiful situation on the beach.

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"A very nice quiet hotel in the quieter part of Gt Yarmouth suberb, a car would be an advantage if you stayed for a time, but very comfortable, and a lovely meal in the restaurant, excellent value for money. Only downside was the annoying pre recorded piano playing, which was a bit loud. needed to be more background." (3304609078)

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"We have stayed in all standards of hotels, all over the world. This hotel, of its type, is fairly good value in most respects. The location is not the best. The fastidious would not be content for long but, overall, the average person willing to trade something less than perfection for a reasonable price would not be too disappointed. Value-for-money of parts of the dinner menu is debatable. We would probably short-stay again, but would not presume to recommend wholeheartedly or not to anyone whose personal standards are unknown to us, but the field has to be filled, so the reader must take from that what he/she will." (3304533086)
It suited our purpose as a base at a reasonable price. The staff we met were friendly and helpful.
Some essential and practical details of housekeeping left something to be desired: e.g. daily towel changing, prompt bathroom tissue replacement. We would not have been happy to continue without comment if our stay had been longer.

Homely atmosphere, friendly staff.
Breakfast request could not be provided on either morning. Bathroom light defect was not rectified. Heating in room could not be adjusted becaues of a missing thermostatic valve on one of the radiators

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is rather quaint, the gardens are nice and Gorleston beach is very pretty, the hotel it" (3304494107)
The setting was nice, with a good sea view.
The room was very dated and felt unclean; the bath was appalling as it was discoloured and peeling. The room also had a hole in the back of the door and in the floor near the bed, it was in general need of renovation and updating.

Cliff Hotel, Great Yarmouth - Reviews & Ratings"Service levels and good manners were in abundance in this place. A lot of hotels could learn from the Cliff Hotel. We arrived 3 hours before 'check-in' as travelling through the night and the staff pulled out the stops to get us in a room for 11:30 even though we knew the earliest was 14:00. This set us up for a great 3 days. The food was 1st class in both the restaurant and bar meals. Top marks for customer service, I would recommend this place to anyone. We'll go back!" (97787458)
A good sized room with room to move.
Only niggle was the noise early morning from the kitchen.

Very good position, close to the promanade and sea. Friendly atmosphere. Good service.
Some fixtures and fittings a bit tired and old-fashioned (although it's being refurbished, apparently).
