"Fine for one night. A bit cramped for two people for much longer. Bar rather smokey but that will soon stop. Poor chice of wine and beer. Restaurant excellent, so was breakfast. Re the question about recommending the hotel, I am forced to choose between Yes and No, while I wanted to either answer It depends or leave it blank - so I have ticked No!" (99523429)

    Pleasantly light and airy.

Bed creaked badly, plug sockets difficult to access, storage poor.

    Smart and tidy.

Staff didnt seem particularly bothered about ensuring their guests had what they wanted. They didnt really want to make us food from the bar snacks menu. This food and drink was overpriced. We were also overcharged.

"If you are looking for a hotel that has character and charm this is the place for you. Maybe it hasn't got all the latest modcoms, but the staff make up for this with their attention and kindness. Breakfasts are traditional, with a delicious range of local fish: we particularly enjoyed the fact that we were served, unlike in some hotels where you have to go to a self service buffet... it made it all seem a very special experience. The bar was well stocked with interesting spirits." (99314700)

We liked the fact that this hotel had character and wasn't a multi national identical box. The staff were very friendly.

    Slightly small bedroom.

based on other hotels visited I have 2 very minor comments about the room 1 - tv too small, and for all I had access to excellent tea making facilities there was : - 2 - no mini bar in room with cold drinks

    location was good

quite a small room for the money, and the noise in the room was excessive due to poor or no seals in the window......when the wind blew the noise was too loud to sleep.....

"A typical old British hotel. Whilst it was clean, well run and served excellent food, there is scope for much modernisation. Today's hotel rooms shouldn't have old free standing wardrobes with rattly coat hangers in them any more! Whilst I enjoyed my one night stay, I have to say as a single visitor it was not really good value compared to other hotels I have stayed at in the UK and abroad." (97885902)

    Clean and car parking available.

    In need of modernisation.

It was very clean and the staff very helpful.

The only point I would say was that the restaurant for evening meals was sort of out of the hotel and could do with some updating

The down side was the lounge bar, as non smokers we could not enjoy a quiet drink!! The resaurant was top class, a bit expensive, however the service and quality was second to none :-))" (99287409)

The view overlooking the sea. Flat screen TV & DVD player in room plus fridge.

The tea/coffee facility was in copboard at ground level...they were not on a tray so each item had to be picked up individually which meant kneeling on the floor to reach them. This was awkward for an older person. Also, it was strange having just one robe in the wardrobe for a double room, with two people staying.

Room had one double and one single bed and hence was a little cramped. Side room overlooked the building next door. Towels smelled as if they had not been dried properly. Positives:- Staff, friendly and helpful. Parking good, location good and quiet. Breakfast very good although first coffee pot was luke-warm. Unfortunately did not have time for dinner." (99013224)

Quality service, quality interior, location, the friendly almost family atmosphere and the view over the Beach from our room.

The room was too warm at night, even with all windows open. This led to substantial noise from taffic etc. in late evening and early hours.

"There is not much to be added for the hotel functioned very well in regard to our use of it as a base. We noted the hands-on approach from the owber/management who wase very helpful to us over a couple of questions over the decor we asked (for our own purposes). We will stay there again for staff were very helpful, bright and willing. A little expensive perhaps for a three night stay (and we had an ofer price) but, in comparison with others on the 'front', it was not out of the ordinary. Enjoyable." (3305242122)

Dining room and breakfast first class, Room was a little small but very clean, the bed very comfortable. The water was hot and the shower excellent

Room a little small. Did not appear to be a relaxing lounge and the bar was small but largely un-occupied whilst we were there.

"I work in the hotel trade myself. I had been there for about an hour and i could feel there was such a good feeling in the hotel and it is a lovely place. I took the time to compliment the manager and one of the owners that they had a really nice hotel. I can not fault it in any way at all. And to underline the fact, i am attending a party in november nearby and booked 3 rooms for that time when I checked out. If i was going to this area for a holiday at any time in the future, you can keep your chalets on the holiday parks. I would book into this hotel without any hesitation." (3305248760)

The bathroom was a good size and nicely laid out. The sea view was a bonus

The tea tray being under the luggage rack Our room was very near to the maids room and we were woken up shortly after 6 every morning because they were very noisy, chatting and laughing and banging about generally.

"Overall most enjoyable and no complaints. Staff were very friendly and helpful and meal times (breakfast and dinner) were a joy. But the restaurant downstairs is in need of re-decoration. It looks as if it has nicotine stained walls and ceiling with ceiling paper coming unstuck. Has it been decorated in past 20 years? Staff and food made up for this small failing however. We enjoyed being waited on and would definitely book Imperial if stopping at Gt Yarmouth again." (3305020895)

(Some dishes were a bit pricey but food and service was good). General cleanliness good; hotel staff friendly; room fine; breakfast good. No problems with minor exception of guests from wedding reception making a lot of noise when going to bed about 2 AM. Otherwise perfect." (3304985768)

The website told me everything I needed to know about the location of the hotel and the facilities offered. I really can't think of anything that could be improved." (3304957996)

Very nice hotel, and good location. Staff all very friendly and helpful. If we travel to Great Yarmouth again we would definately stay here again

The only thing that I can say is that that the TV didn't work, but this didn't actually matter to us and I'm sure that if we'd have mentioned this to the staff it would have been rectified straight away. But all in all that is the only bad thing I can say, the hotel and the room was beautiful and the staff were lovely.

"I did not receive value for money and I was very disappointed with my room. As a frequent hotel user I have certain standards that I have depending on how much money I have spent on a room. The room size was OK, but the bed was terribly unconfortable and poorly inadequate for my husband and I, far too small and centuries of other guest use on this bed caused a huge sag in the middle. The decor and furnishings were old fashioned. Another point to make (which I told the receptionist about) was the guests in the next room to us, kept me awake for hours during the night, they argued all night, slamming doors, waking their baby up who screamed, waking their dog up that barked. The receptionist said I should have complained whilst it was happening....? The reception closed at 11pm!! My overall experience of this hotel is poor, I do not recommend it and certainly will not go back." (3304833460)

The location is just outside the main drag which was an ideal short stroll to walk off evening meal and far enough away to remain quiet.

    The bed and the noise.

It was only 1 min from the waterways and only 5 mins to britania pier and high street. Could not have been better. Was not sure about the age of people but it ranged from very small children up to the more mature adult, which was nice. The food was very good and service always came with a smile. Nothing seemed to much trouble.." (3304671281)

"Much cheaper to book online than ringing them direct. Hotel offers good facilities: bar and restaurant, and spacious breakfast room. The room we had was rather small, and the blankets were a bit dated, and don't feel hygienic, although I'm sure they were. Stay was 'alright'." (3304594259)

Hotel Imperial is situated on the beach, about 5 minutes away from the centre. There is a bar and restaurant, and best of all, we could bring our dog. When we entered our hotel room, a dog blanket was waiting for us.

Rather expensive for the kind of room you get. Walls are very think, rooms are very small, and the interior of the room is kind of dated.
