    Very good value for money

A lot of stairs to top floor with no elevator. Terrible parking problems with expensive street parking during the day and hard to come by free parking at night.

"Acceptable for the price. A larger room would however encourage me to use it again." (107687559)

Warm and clean Room. Good friendly staff.

Room was very very small. Hardly room to turn round. I think for someone as tall as me 6ft 2'' I needed to be told how small the single rooms would be. I do like a bath but for the room rate this may be expecting too much.

"Best bed I have slept in in a long time. The pillows were great, as was the duvet/comforter. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was attentive, but not overbearing. Front desk not always staffed, but receptionist responded very quickly once bell was rung to summon. Very friendly and helpful. Excellent location." (107271062)

The seaview was very good--better than expected. The king-size bed and numerous pillows were extremely comfortable -- the best that my daughter and I have experienced in our travels in England over the last two weeks. Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room staff very attentive. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Even though the hotel is supposed to be completely non-smoking, there was a definite smoky smell in our room whenever it had been closed up for a while -- like when we returned from dinner the first night and then at the end of each day when we returned from sight-seeing. The problem was remedied by opening the window for a little while and running bathroom exhaust fan. Don't know if someone had previously smoked in the room or if smoke was seeping in from an adjoining room. Was slightly annoying.

"Hotel in a good situation for visiting Brighton and going out in the evening. Staff polite, friendly and their assistance with car parking was invaluable as car left parked two days. Room was clean and adequate though from one bed you couldn't watch TV plus WC and shower space was very small. Breakfast range good and was very enjoyable." (97721678)

It was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and assisted with car parking needs. Breakfast range was wonderful.

Toilet/shower was a very small area with washbasin in the bedroom. Windows fine when I realised how to open them.

"The room was beautiful and clean with good facilities. The breakfast service was also excellent and the hotel staff very helpful. There was a slight confusion as to which room was ours during check in. The walls of the hotel were thin and there was a lot of noise from the corridor. There was no 24hour reception and people would ring the bell in the middle of the night." (97816983)

Size and decoration of room. Excellent service from staff.

Noise, lack of 24 hour reception.

The room was very clean and was in good order. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Good LCD TV in the room with sky channels.

Found it difficult to adjust shower water temperature at a suitable level. The white commode was wobbly.

"The hotel is in a good location if you want to be near nightlife, but not right in the midst of it, it was quiet. We ordered breakfast in our room on one morning, it can be served until 10.30 which is good as a lot of hotel breakfast times are too early. We were given toast, croissants, pain au chocolat and rolls, and fruit and fruit juice, tea and coffee, not too bad atall! The only small complaint was that th radiator in the bedroom wasn't on, this didn't bother us too much, it wasn't particularly cold and I normally find hotel rooms to be too hot and stuffy." (97882978)

Good location near shops e.t.c not far from Lanes or main high street, but the actual hotel remained quiet.

"The above contains what I think of the hotel. The location is excellent, the square is lovely. The room was lovely and comfortable. Just improve the breakfast! And the en-suite was much too cramped. For the price, it should have been better." (99411300)

The hotel was nice and very central, with character. The staff were excellent.

The en-suite was too small. Also, the breakfast could be better.

"Small 200 year old hotel with excellent staff and location. Well appointed room, nice sheets and duvet, but how did it possibly get 4 diamonds with a mushy bed (room 4 ensuite). time to invest in some new mattresses." (99596732)

Friendly helpful service, room and bathroom spotless, nice decor.

The bedroom was topnotch EXCEPT for the bed which was saggy and soft.

The space used for checking in is cramped and gives a poor impression of the hotel. Parking can be a problem.

    Not very much

The fron-door was locked and no staff available at 5.00 pm. Public areas dingy. Bedroom ok, but another guest's clothes had been left in the wardrobe. En suite very small and not clean.

"I would have liked to know about the parking beforehand. I was lucky on the two or three times when I returned to the hotel to get a spot in front of the hotel. I am well aware that I could have been driving around looking for parking for ages. I would have liked to have information on any long stay parking available nearby." (3304561830)

Ease os accessibility to Brighton seafront and shops and the Laines. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

    nothing.

"As a location for an overnight stop it was ideal. We were lucky that we found a kerbside parking space right outside the hotel. (Free from 18.00 hrs to 09.00hrs the next morning) But we suspect that in February at mid week it was a lot less crowded than at other times. The hotel's sister establishment provided us with a very good meal at a reasonable price. Their service was excellent." (3304243872)

Located in a pleasant open square close to the seafront and main attractions of the town.

There was a small party of guests who though it was quite acceptable to play loud music in the lounge at midnight.
