Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"£50 odd pound for one night was about right - Room I stayed in was in need of a) refurbishment and b) a new mattress. As previously mentioned the mobile phone recepition is very poor (vodaphone = middle of car park.)" (97430855)
Average accommodation OK for one night
Poor mattress (springs sticking out.) Temperamental shower, very difficult to get it to run warm unless it was turned right down

Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"Ok" (107654860)
Easy to find hotel, with ok facilities
Was warned about the food(on late rooms), which to be honest i didn't have a problem with. Although i did have a problem with the way the staff were shouting at each other in the morning. Fol.lowed up by the restaurant manager screching "don't you raise your voice to me young lady..." which is about one of the most patronising things a bloke can say. Obviously hasn't had much managerial training. followed up with "if you two can't get on... one of you will have to leave..." not really managing the situation, especially in earshot of paying customers.

Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"Generally disappointing stay. I took pot luck on picking the hotel, trusting a few reviews, the fact it's situated in some lovely countryside and the possibility of spending a little over the odds might get me a better quality of hotel (compared to the town centre type, multi-national, chains). I'm sorry, but I wouldn't stay here again." (97793735)
Nice, pleasant surroundings. Check-in was quite easy and I didn't even have to produce any proof of booking on the Internet, or ID. The evening meal in the bar was reasonably hot, and served fairly quickly, even though there was a wedding party in the hotel. It tasted ok too, but shame the portions weren't bigger, especially the sweet, which cost £5 for a chocolate mouse no bigger than an expresso sized coffee cup!
Check-in was typical of many larger hostelries - short, blunt and to the point. No pleasantries from the desk staff. I had to ask for basic directions to get to my room. The room had light bulbs not working, one in the main bedroom light and one in the light above the bathroom mirror. Didn't find out till later that evening but too tired to be bothered calling room service. Also found a bracket broken which was supposed to be holding up the glass shower screen. The room seemed fairly clean though, as it had recently been given a quick lick of paint. Breakfast was pretty poor - all the cooked breakfast foods were kept warm in hot dishes ready to help yourself. The scrambled egg had 'dark' bits in it and the bacon looked and tasted as though it had been steamed - not grilled or fried. The coffee and tea was luke-warm from vacuum flasks. The only thing 'fresh' was the toast delivered to your table, but that was as thin as cardboard. To top it all, there were no pleasantries from the European staff. Not sure if it was due to language or culture barrier, or perhaps because they were over-worked and rushing around. Whatever the reason, the 'personal' touch was lacking, which spoilt this one-off stay.

Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"We booked this hotel on the recomndation of friends in the area, but they had not visited the hotel themselves. We are experienced worldwide travellers, and as such felt that this hotel offers very poor value for money. The room (especailly the bathroom) is in need of an overhaul, the decor is very old fashioned, and the bathroom is very poor." (97139804)
Location.
Everything else. The room was old-fashioned, the bathroom was in serious need of an upgrade, the staff were off-hand.

Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was friendly and welcoming, but hte decor of our room was disappointing, we were also put in a smoking room when we requested non smoking, again we were not informed of this and only found out when we entered the room. Being in a room in the loudest part of the hotel was also disappointing. The hotel staff were kind enough to offer a free breakfast and 10% discount as compensation, which has left us feeling we would again return to the hotel and are considering using the hotel as a wedding venue." (3304951231)
The hotel was in beautiful surroundings and the leaisure facilities were very good. The staff were also very friendly
I was not told prior to arriving that there was a wedding party at the hotel and we were put in a room directly above the reception room.

It was a scorching day and their four children were thirsty. Their father went in to the reception to ask if the bar was open to buy them a drink.Instead, the receptionist organised two iced water jugs and glasses for all nine adults and children to be brought out to us in the grounds free of charge - we loved everything about this hotel but were especially impressed by this level of friendliness and customer service." Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"The Manor House Hotel proved to be a very lucky on-line find for an overnight stay prior to attending a sad occasion the following day in Woking. The hotel's quiet rural location, yet conveniently situated within minutes of A3/M25, was wonderful after a 220-mile drive. We were most impressed by the friendliness and courtesy of the staff, the overall decor, furnishings, and cleanliness; the hotel's tariff (got a great 'on-line' booking rate!), the restaurant tariff (best value 'Full English Breakfast' I've ever had!), and being offered the excellent Spa facilities at no extra charge! The Manor House Hotel far exceeded my expectations, so I applaud the management and staff for running a hotel that I didn't want to leave rather than one that I couldn't wait to get away from!" (3304732545)
Its peaceful location, welcoming and friendly staff, inclusive use of the Leisure Spa facilities, the perfectly adequate restaurant menu with its well-prepared and presented fresh good value food, an excellent 'Full English Breakfast' - with the emphasis on 'full'! - and the overall ambience of the hotel.
The guest/s in the adjoining room who had their TV on until after midnight at a volume loud enough to be heard through the wall - but not enough for me to contact the desk.

Manor House Hotel, Guildford - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is in nice countryside with some good views and was nice and quiet. The (double) bed was a little narrow so we did not get a very good night's sleep. The dinner was exceptionally tasty - I would recommend this restaurant. The room was a bit scruffy and the bathroom was not very clean (OK for me as a man but my wife did not like it). I found the room to have a slightly depressing ambience due to the dark decor, plain furnishings and the small window - OK for a short stay but I would not have liked it for a longer holiday (though to be fair we had taken the cheapest standard double room). I had requested on the internet booking a smoking room but we were given a no-smoking room - though there was a lounge area and a bar where I could smoke (after the ban on smoking in public places comes in force getting a smoking room when requested would be more important as this would be the only legal place for a smoke!)" (3304514106)
Nice hotel, friendly staff, dinner exceptionally good
Room not very clean. No-smoking room provided though smoking requested.
