"nice hotel, rooms a bit dated. good food" (97985508)

lobby very nice. good staff. reasonable price and its great to have a gym although i didnt get chace to try it out

the room decor doesnt match the image of the hotel, they are very dated. The hotel was very noisy i could hear everything out in the hall and it was very noisy when the person in the room above was moving around.

"The hotel was fine and the leisure area first class, however the evening meal was poor. We ate in the Verve which was busy but the starter which arrived for one of us was not as ordered and the pasta starter for the other was very wet as it had not been drained propely, we only ordered one main course which was fine and the dessert was fine but the cheese and biscuits consisted of just three pieces of cheddar, thes item were corrected but should not have happened." (97315831)

The pool area must be one of the best in the country

"a very pleasant experiance, very friendly staff and also happy to oblige. unfortunately breakfast was very disorganised, not enough tables to accomodate peak times and the staff didnt seem to be allocated specific tasks, so it consequently seemed that nothing got done. breakfast itself was very exceptable." (97853064)

upgraded on arrival as we were offered a King Size room for £15.00 extra. money well spent as it was in the excellent new extension.

the layout means you had to go up stairs to actually then go down to the ground floor, sounds strange but is factual.

we liked everything about our stay. we has a really nice time, just wished breakfast was on until a little later.

the girl at the reception desk was a little rude when we were checking in. There were a couple of other people there so she may have been abit stressed but we do like to be greeted with a smile.

"I would have liked to have known how close the nearest outside restaurant and bar were. I would also have liked to have seen a proper picture of the bedrooms, which on the website were totally different to the room we stayed in. The bar area was uninviting. Restaurant had the same menu as the bar and as we were eating dinner, the staff were setting up for breakfast which was quite intrusive. Loud music played until after 2am. Noisy residents and door slamming after 2am. Not much sound proofing. Very disappointing. Would not stay again unless drastic action taken to improve housekeeping and sound proofing." (99332255)

    Ample parking, good breakfast choice.

It was pretty basic, and for a new hotel very disappointing. The worse part was that we had unclean towels on our arrival, even after several requests for them to be changed, they never were and we ended up using our own!

A modern hotel with good facilities

Not being able to use the hotel restaraunt on both eveings because it was booked for Christmas function. Whilst the hotel ensured that we had a non-smoking room the smell of cigarettes permeated through the corridors.

"Easy access from the A1 with plenty of parking space. The room was very clean and well laid out with plenty of room. The food was excellent and reasonably priced (A'la carte) with an even cheaper option in the lounge bar. The leisure facilities were fantastic, just what was required after a day shopping. Also well situated for use of the Metro to the city centre/Gateshead (no need to take the car into the city centre). We walked to the Metro (about 10/15 minutes) but there is some parking at the station to leave the car." (99881266)

"We enjoyed our stay on the whole but the noise on Saturday night spoilt it. " (107138920)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and swimming pool were spotless. The breakfast selection was wonderful. We didn't eat in the hotel any other time as the prices were too high.

We had very little sleep on Friday night as the room overlooked a seated area outside and the noise from a wedding party was exceptionally loud until 3 a.m. Surely it would be btter to have family rooms away from the entrance and this area. I called down to reception at 2a.m. as I had to get up early to attend a confernce on Saturday. The manager spoke to them and they did quieten for a short while but they soon started up again. Also the sofa bed one of my sons slept in was quite uncomfortable but the pull out part of it was fine.

Excellent leisure facilites, swimming pool, steam and sauna together with an extensive gym. Early bird specials in the restaurant (2 course for 6.95). Good sized rooms fully equiped warm and comfortable, I highly recommed this hotel either for a leisure break or equally for the business traveller." (3304738620)

"Ideally situated for touring the area. The hotel was exactly as described. (Will there be further eating areas when the extension is finished as I think the present one will not cope with extra customers)." (3305153148)

Having the pub and health club on site made the hotel appear more friendly and used. Sometimes you can arrive at an hotel and it can be completely dead and unwelcoming.

Only two small points. There was a stain on the bedroom carpet and there had been a celbration in the restaurant and the following morning the floor was still covered in confetti and was sticky.

"Staff helpful. Bedrooms and leisure facilities were excellent. Some of the furnishings in the restaurant and bar need cleaning or replacing as they looked rather grubby. Also the menu in the eating areas didn't offer much in the way of salad options, though it was not a problem to get when I asked for salad instead of chips/jacket potato with my meal. There is a new extension being built but we didn't hear much noise, in fact the chickens in the nearby allotments were noisier! We also heard music, probably from the function rooms below but it wasn't overloud and stopped at midnight. We would definately use this hotel again as the 3 night room and breakfast offer we had was good value." (3305035167)

Lovely room with a fan provided as there was no air con.Excellent pool and gym

A small fridge and air con would have been useful as we had very hot weather.

"Most of the staff were pleaseant but a couple could do with customer care training or a different vocation. My wife and I had a meal in the resturant on the first night. She requested the mediterranian veg and was served with veg in season. The second night wew ate in the bar and had to ask for the table to be cleaned just as the waiter was about to lay down the cuttlery. The room we were given was in the middle of a wedding party and over or near the function room where the recption was. I feel it would be better if guests not part of the wedding were given rooms farther from the function room and away from the guests." (3304966888)

the leisure area was very good. having access to the out side with sun loungers is excellent

the bed was fitted with the wrong size duvet and it was holed, another one was brought in and was still the wrong size, try again, success. apologies were offered and a basket of fruit sent to the room.

We only had breakfast at the hotel, but there was plenty of choice and food quality was good. The evening restaurant menu was very Beefeater but offered a decent selection. There were plenty of facilities we did not get time to use eg massage/beauty treatments, coffee shop and swimming pool." (3304747998)

"We both enjoyed our stay there very much and have no real negative comments to make, other than I wish I'd have known that room service/late food would not be easily available after 10pm as in other large hotels. However, that's a very minor issue which was happily sorted out by the very kind reception person and which had no impact on our high opinion of our stay there. Overall, it was very enjoyable and comfortable, made all the more so by the really friendly and helpful staff there. Oh, and the breakfasts were the best we've had anywhere!" (3304894405)

The reception staff were extremely charming and very helpful (organised sandwiches for me after the kitchen had closed on Friday night), and room very comfortable. We also loved the breakfasts, which were excellent.

Our only complaint was that there was not room service or easy food provision after 10pm. However, as mentioned above, staff were very kind and provided sandwiches for me, after a long - and late - train journey from London).
