Very Clean
When we were checking in, another colleague was pestering the receptionist for information relating to another party staying in the hotel and we found this quite rude when it happened more than once. Also, having booked online quite a long time ago, I was dismayed to be told that our double room was not available and only a twin was. As we had no other option we had to say yes to this. The plug in the sink would not come out and we ended up using the bath taps to wash.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"I would stay again as it is very conveniently situated." (107531389)
Very good hotel, extremely clean and well presented, staff pleasant.
The bed was like a rock. I would have preferred the twin room I had booked rather than the double I was given. Soundproofing against noisy late night guests might help.

Excellent check. Was given room in quiet part of hotel. As I had children & there was a wedding reception. Also given 2 adjoining rooms as I had 2 children. Was taken to room & shown where to park. Have recommended this hotel to my friends & family. Excellent Customer Service. Would Stay there again.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"Pretty good. Certainly good enough that I would stay again, and reccommend to any friends (except if they don't bother with breakfast)." (97550248)
Breakfast was outstanding, to the extent that it is the single factor that would make me want to stay there again. On arrival TV remote was missing, but staff quickly found a replacement.
Bar is a little on the expensive side, and the bar food a rather mean on quantity for the prices charged.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"Difficult to fault anything - except for long maze of corridors and inconsiderate guests shouting and banging doors in early hours of morning." (97159239)
Friendly, helpful staff.
Noisy guests during the night!

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"The dinner and breakfast were good and value for money. We had booked a twin bedded room, but were initially given a double room, which was sorted out, without delay. We enjoyed our stay." (99130045)
As much as we required, being only a one night stay.
My wife, being disabled, had a long walk, from our bedroom to the dining room. Our room was suggested by the staff, to be well away from a wedding reception, which was likely to be noisy. On that point, we were not disturbed.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"the rooms were small and compact, the carpark didn't seem to be that busy but our rooms seemed as far away from reception as possible. The shower was nice and powerful but not for use for someone on the larger side as it was rather a tight squeeze. Staff weren't that cheerful but I guess I wouldn't be working a bank holiday weekend!" (99911698)
whilst the actual room smelt clean the rest of the hotel smelt of stale smoke, thankfully the weather was dry so we were able to sit outside whilst awaiting for our friends to arrive. The person on reception at check out was not the most cheerful of people and even though we were hung over we still felt like our custom hadn't been appreciated

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"My first stay in March had no problems - but the second stay on the 23rd March I had to ask for a second large towel and coffee sachets. the shower had a very loud squeal and could only beused when turned on at a low flow - I did mention this at the hotel. I will be booking again towards the end of April as my visits are necessary after my mothers death earlier this year to sort out her affairs. I expect to make at least 2 or 3 more bookings at the same hotel" (99411332)

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"The room was in an extension block, wasn't part of the main hotel, more of an annex. The walls were thin, the layout ridiculous (huge room, tiny bathroom) the taps leaked everywhere, half the bulbs didn't work, and I was woken in the morning by building work. It appeared that this room was amongst a number of rooms due for decomission and renovation. I made my complaints known in the morning. the staff were friendly, courteous and reasonable. I was given a discount for my inconveniences. I did manage to see other rooms in the hotel, and these seemed very nice. maybe I was just unfortunate, but it was a shame and i don't think i'll be using the hotel again as a result." (3305303830)
location
poor quality of room, poor fixtures and fittings, woken by building work

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"We had rather a dramatic end to our stay....the explosion at the Oil Depot. The hotel was evacuated shortly after 6am on Sunday Dec 11. At all times the staff were calm, organised, and kept us informed. Both my husband and I felt they were in control, following emergency proceedures and dealing with the situation in a reassuring way. The M1 motorway is very close to the Hotel but surprisingly noise level was low." (2985877)
Very conveniently situated for Hemel and St Albans. Attractive, well maintained grounds and rooms. Good ambience and friendly staff. We had a slight problem with flushing the toilet. This was dealt with immediately...very impressive

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"It is hard to believe that a company such as yours employs people who don't know what they're doing and it was no wonder that only 4 tables were occupied in the restaurant while we were there." (2782888)
Clean and tidy
Restaurant was terrible, chef couldn't cook. Even the waitress apologised for the poor standard of the food.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"In general I would not recommend this hotel for a stay longer than one night because of my perceptions of the poor standard in the restaurant. For the prices charged, the standard is not good enough." (2348405)
Good comfortable room. All the facilities that you would expect. However, the shower head dripped annoyingly and the window latch was not secure despite being on the ground floor. The restaurant was adequate and the bar was good. Checking-in and paying was efficient and friendly. The restaurant manager was very good but the waiters less so. The payment system appeared awkward. Breakfast was excellent but overpriced. Car parking was more than adequate.
It seemed an age to get to the room. There were confusing steps up and down and long corridors. There was no facility for portering bags/luggage despite the fact that an escort showed us the way to our room. There was only one lift and a much quicker way to the bar/restaurant via a side entry/exit which we had to find ourselves. Our evening meal was good in places, but the roast lamb was tough and tasteless. The carrots seemed to be designed for animal feed by the look of their size. The waiters 'dumped' the plate of food on the table and did not offer any fresh glasses for water. One of the wine glasses was contaminated with lipstick. We had to wait too long for our table despite booking in advance. The dado rails were covered in dust and the rubbish bins were full. There were dirty cloths, clean cloths and cleaning fluid left on a table beside the eating area.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"I must congratulate the receptionist on duty when we came early with my partner feeling not well, she behaved in a thoroughly professional manner and proved superb excelling over and above what is usually the norm. helping to get us booked in early so she could rest and recover. Answering this e mail saves posting the letter i had ready. She is to be congratulated, all to often bad or adequate service is the norm, this young lady shows excellence still exists." (2037117)

helpfulness of staff
I am certain (unless in error) that I booked a non-smoking room. The room reeked of smoke - as did my clothes in the morning. The mattress was hard and lumpy.

Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Hemel Hempstead - Reviews & Ratings"Staff were excellent. Breakfast was expensive at 11.95 and pre-issued invoice assumed that both of us would required breakfast. My partner only wanted coffee but such flexibilty was not obvious. Wardrobe handle was broken, en-suite WC handle was very loose, tears and scratches to some bedroom and corridor wallpaper." Staff, food, facilities.
Some rather shoddy decorative finishes to common parts and room within our particular wing.

"Reception treats guests as numbers. When I arrived, I was handed by key and sent off to the lift to 2nd floor. The room was nowhere to be found and a waiter delivering room service explained I had to go down to 1st floor, cross the hotel, and then walk up a staircase. Not pleasant with a heavy suitcase. When I complained about the lack of direction to reception staff, I was told the layout of the place was so complex that reception staff could not be expected to know that sort of detail. What chance do we guests have then?" (107802045)
Large comfortable rooms, well maintained bathrooms, very nice breakfast buffet served from 6:30 a.m.
No attention to detail, many rooms on 2nd floor only reachable by stairs rather than lift, basic furtiture such as a stool for the suitcase missing
