Very friendly welcome by the landlord of the hostelry, and he was very helpful with all our needs (local information, taxi hire) during the stay. The hotel was in a beautiful village setting, and there were plenty walks available in order to explore the countryside.

Very clean and tidy. Staff helpful and friendly.
Room advertised as suitable for up to 4 adults/family room. Only proper bedding for 2 people, extra beds were z-beds.

Our children are 13 and 11 and they managed well on the 'put up' beds in the family room. The Hotel is placed in a typical english village and you could sense that from the moment you walked in. We went there on our way to EuroDisney but found the hotel so nice we though about going there next time for our holiday. I would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone. A+++" (97269353)
Friendly and approachable staff. Vry welcoming and a sense of a typical Engligh village. Very welcoming.
The birthday party below our room which lasted until 11 pm while we were trying to put the kids to bed. But that's just a coincidence.

Room very small (The Chilham),Others were much larger. Shower sprayed water everywhere, constant droning of extractor fan from kitchen(?) til 10.30pm was a pain. Dont have the Chilham room!

Food good & very reasonably priced. Room large with superb facilities & nice touches - trouser press, shoe shine, full toiletries, sewing kit and the best lighting we've ever had in a hotel room. Staff very attentive & helpful.
Bed creaked with every movement (but we still slept through an almighty storm).

The accommodation was was satisfactory for 4 people but would have been excellent for 2 people. The enivronment was warm and friendly and I would love to stay again for a longer period." (97781761)

Lovely Hotel in beautiful setting close to Channel Tunnel. Host was a real character who welcomed us warmly.
Outside the hotel was generally untidy with old beer pumps/coolers and cycles scattered around. Ensuite shower head was held together with sticky tape and a piece of wood!!

Noisy shower pumps in other rooms woke us up. The shower in our room was held together with duct tape and stopped working after 5 minutes. The bed was creaky and uncomfortable. The window vent rattled all night. There was some other unexplained noise that made the floor vibrate from 8am (possible kitchen extractor fan)

The radiator in the room did not work, a portable heater was left to be used however this resulted in a dry atmosphere. Greater soundproofing within the ceiling of the bar to prevent excessive noise in the bedrooms would have been beneficial (a pub quiz aided by michrophone was taking place during the late evening). The village itself was very picturesque and it was a pleasure to stroll around evidence of kentish architecture was in abundance." (97090502)
The accommodation was excellent and very clean, especially the towels and bedlinen. The dinner was fine and good value for money but the breakfast was overcooked and rather greasy. The staff were most helpful and friendly.
The general bar area was tired and in need of refurbishment. The restaurant ceiling was leaking water resulting in guests having to move from their table.

The staff were excellent, they were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Really enjoyed our meal arrived just at last orders time but this was not a problem for them. These points would make us go back.

The toilet is very noisy, get waken up whenever someone use the toilet or shower (including neighbours). The shower drain is blocked a little bit. The room is a little bit too hot, as you cannot turn off the heating (Maybe you can, but we are too tired and did not ask)

Corridors being used for storage made it a bit messy. Would be nice to have a soap holder in shower cubicle.

Our room, the Chilham suite, was very small, but adequate for our 1 night stay. Everything was clean and tidy and staff were extremely nice. Breakfast good in morning. Only bad thing was being woken at 7am by the sound of pumps running constantly and the shower head being broken - held together with tape. Because it was leaking badly, water pressure was lower and temperature fluctuated. The quality of the shower can make or break a hotel room." (99591171)

It was a little dated. Shower was held together with tape and the plumbing was very noisey - woken up at 7am by other guests shower pumps running.

I must add that we did not complain to the landlord as the service and people we encountered were very nice." (99178069)
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The four poster bed and other family sleeping arrangements were also very good. The room was very clean and the garden area was enclosed and safe for the children to play in without too much close supervision required. There was also a very good play area 100m down the road for children of all ages.
Unfortunately there was a problem with the water/heating pipes which kept us up until after midnight as they crashed and whined until people stopped using them. As it is a pub we were situated over the bar which we did not think would be a problem having been a landlord myself before...however, the piano was also situated under the room and chopsticks was played into the early hours by a three year old. Fortunately my children were unaffected. The food helpings were generous but very poor quality.
