Friendly staff!

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Better than expected. Although a pub come hotel it worked just like a small hotel - very professional. I was concerned about previous reviews about the smell of smoke but that wasn't an issue at all. Of course this issue should be redundant shortly anyway. The staff were very helpfull and polite. I couldn't get bbc2 on the TV in my room and the staff arranged for me to watch an episode of Rome on a big screen downstairs in the back. The manager even ensured the background music in that room was turned down for me - I didn't even have to ask. I found him to be particularly professional and helpful. I guess the price for what you pay for comes with London, but it's definitely better than a pub come hotel - I was pleasantly suprised overall." (99092073)
clean, smoke free room

The hotel is excellent. the staff were very helpful and the deal on the web was great value for money. A most enjoyable stay.
the only dislike was the length of the double bed. Being a 6 footer I found my feet hanging off the end of the bed. The misses (being shorter than me) had no problem with the bed but found the room to be very hot even with the supplied fan running.

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is in an excellent position in the heart of London. It is close to attractions such as the London eye and Waterloo tube station is just a quick walk down the road. The staff were very pleasant and the room was large and well equipped with a large en-suite and was very comfortable. Highly recommended." (97849929)
The room was large and nicely decorated, and the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming.
There was nothing to dislike really , although the beds were a little too hard!!

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Location is excellent. My room perfectly adequate. Thank you for thTimes at breakfast. Waitress staff at breakfast clearly not sharing in the employee share options scheme. The Anchor butter pakets were unbelievably sticky and distorted and had the look of being there a very long time. I didn`t find any muesli, the most nutritional seemed to be Corn Flakes. Good sized coffee cup let down as always by the abscence of hot milk,i.e. a universal hoteliers fault. I am returning as a guest so I hope this will stimulate improvements to a hotel full of character." (97336489)
For London this was reasonable.
I think the shower was looking very well used and the shower protector did not protect the floor as I discovered when I subsequently took my trousers down to us e the loo.

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Overall we were happy with the hotel, apart from not being able to regulate the temperature in the room, and the fact that the bed was too soft so we both woke up with back-ache! The staff were efficient and helpful especially when we rang down at 1.15 am to complain about the noise from the private function which was keeping us awake. The breakfast was very good, although the service was a little slow." (97756556)
The location of the hotel is excellent. Our room was of a good size and was at the back of the building and therefore fairly quiet for London.
Unable to regulate temperature of room and ensuite bathroom, both of which were too hot for us.

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"In general we enjoyed the hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, it was nice, clean & warm. The bar downstairs was good too. Its not too far to walk to the attractions of London, we went to see the New Year in. We would stay there again (they made a note of the tap and shower door over the bath, so I'm sure that will have been corrected)" (97530759)
The room was warm and clean.
The hot tap on the sink was extremely difficult to turn you needed two hands to use it, and the shower door over the bath leaked water onto the floor.

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"The location of this hotel was perfect for our visit, and the general standard of cleanliness was acceptable. The mattress was a huge peoblem. The least you could expect from a hotel is a decent nights sleep. Also, the toilet seat in the bathroom was broken. I doubt we would use this hotel again. However, The staff were very polite and helpfull." (99383772)
Convenient, Clean,
The matress on the bed was dreafull! We were sleepless all night! Which ruined an otherwise wonderfull visit! An expensive way to stay awake!

The location was very handy for the area we wanted to visit, the South Bank. The hotel was clean and well-run.
No one could point us to an Internet cafe that was open on Sunday morning. We finally found a kiosk at Waterloo Station.

The hotel was fine apart from being over heated! Even with the fan on the bedroom was far too hot. The heated towel rail was on in the bathroom (what a waste!) It was a hot day 25 degrees!" The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Arrived at hotel - easy to find and close to train station - greeting at reception was friendly. Handy that the bar was downstaires and open to hotel guests and public. Rooms were clean but considering ours was a non-smoking room you could still smell smoke in there. Very, very hot in the hotel but fans were supplied. The bed was comfortable but small. Staff were friendly until breakfast time when they must have asked us several times what we wanted but then 20mins later said the kitchen had closed! After much confusion we did get a breakfast but don't think they were too happy! Hotel looked after luggage for the day once checked out of room which I felt was very handy for those staying only for 1 night. Overall a good stay and I would recommned to others - must make sure you get to breakfast 15 minutes before it closes!!" (99233005)

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"The Mad Hatter was a very nice hotel to stay in. The check in staff were helpful and polite. The only downside was having to eat your breakfast in the pub. The smell of stale smoke and beer is not the best thing to be greated with. Also while the breakfast itself was wonderful the service was not. The girl didn't say one word to anyone, didn't smile, ask if everything was ok. In fact I'm not entirely sure she could speak at all. There was no butter with the toast, I and other customers had to take it from other breakfast tables that hadn't been cleared, which was another disapointment. Dirty, uncleared and uncleaned tables. They were sticky. I didn't pay the rack rate of " (3305158387)

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel was situated in an easy to find area by car. It looked how it did in the picture and the rooms were tastefully decorated. Booking in was easy as they had all the information per the on line booking. Value for money was excellent for London prices, booking on line gave us a discount. Taxi booked by hotel reception to take us into main hustle and bustle arrived within the 10minutes they had advised it would take. Food was excellent and i was especially pleased that they included a vegetarian full english breakfast which i have never been able to have before. Would definately go there again." (3305196941)
It was comfortable and homely decor.
Nothing major. View was very poor, looking out into a back yard area.

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"I liked the room in every respect except the faulty toilet flush. Proximity to Bankside, Waterloo Station and bus stops for buses traveling to The Old Kent Rd etc a great advantage. The staff I met were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel would be a good stop-over for other people working for Action for Blind People, which is a national charity with its main office just off the Old Kent Rd and therefore it would be beneficial if you could offer a concessionary charity rate. Thankyou" (3305178369)
Very comfortable and small enough to make you feel like a human being rather than a mere room number
Unfortunately the flush was not working in the en suite - hence the low score

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"We really have no complaints other than the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. The breakfast was terrific and covered all requirements (as did the air conditioning here!) The two meals we ate in your restaurant were good value. Your staff were without exception pleasant and efficient. The position so near Blackfriars Bridge and public transport was great. I guess the only grouch is the horrible view of the adjacent demolition site from our room (308) but we realise this is not in your hands and no doubt will be fixed in the fullness of time." (3304780464)
The generous size of both the double room and also the bathroom (the cat could be swung easily!) Makes a nice change.
The heat - a fan is no alternative to proper air conditioning in summer.

The Mad Hatter Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was very cute and clean. Desk staff were very helpful. Kitchen closes early so couldn't get anything to eat after 9 one evening and didn't want to walk out at that stage. I didn't realize that this hotel was on a very busy corner. Not a problem though as all windows seemed to keep noise out. Not aware of no air con in rooms until my daughter visited and mentioned. Also no problem though as weather was mild and fan worked well and was very quiet. Overall a small and personal hotel." (3304800694)
Desk staff very friendly and helpful. The bar is a nice place and breakfast was quite adequate.
When I checked in the batteries to the door lock were not working and I had to wait til the next day to have it fixed. Room staff were not attentive to detail. There was no room card to ask for service so room was not cleaned one day at all. No extra soap or shampoo provided except when I specifically asked after several days, expected basics.
