Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"The Four Pillars Hotel is a great place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit." (108921893)
Staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean & comfortable and the breakfasts were also very good.
The only detraction was that our visit coincided with the Witney Feast, a large annual fair that takes place in the town centre on the Monday & Tuesday, and a number of young guests (including some uninvited ones) that were staying on the Monday night caused a disturbed night's rest.

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"We may just have been unlucky to have a room that was so noisy on nights that were hot so that we wanted the window open. Equally, the chef may have been having an off day (we ate out the next night - Ask in Witney, superb food and excellent value." (108861393)
Helpful, friendly staff. Good quality breakfast - plenty of choice. Staff booked tickets for us and got discounts as well.
Room was adequate but bedside lights didn't work. Outside our room there was an air conditioning unit which ran at night and was very noisy. Dinner was over-priced and poorly cooked. Risotto was dry and still crunchy; the venison burger was cremated.

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"Overall this was good value for the money paid and was an excellent base for our purposes. Best described as a slightly upmarket travel inn." (107820290)
Extremely comfortable, well appointed. Breakfast was plentiful and of a high quality.
There seemed to be very few staff around, for example the health spa was unattended when arriving so no chance to ask questions, you just had to find your way around. Swimming pool was tiny.

Ben was particularly fantastic, as were the other staff
the changing rooms in the ladies swimming area were quite unkempt; wet and dirty and very used!

Food and restaurant service were excellent, the sports and leisure facilities were not overcrowded
We told people at the time of booking and at the time of arrival that we were celebrating 35 years of marriage, but nothing was done to enhance our celebration

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"Not a great experience for a 4 star hotel. " (107159985)
Easy access to staff
People smoking in other rooms and the smell of smoke filtered through our bathroom filter into our room so that when we got back to our room the room stank of smoke. We had to sleep with the windows and curtains open to try and get rid of the smell but by 7am we could not tolerate this any more. the manager came up and agreed that probably the room below us was smoking and apologized but we were not offered any compensation for this disturbed night which was meant to be a relaxing start to a few days away for us

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"It's a nice hotel, but would be much better if it was updated and properly maintained." (107132424)
Great staff. Friendly, helpful and efficient. Nice brasserie and bar area.
Bathrooms are poor. Shower not working poroperly in first room. Tiny badly appointed bathroom in second room. No mixer taps - its 2008! Rooms need updating, even walls are marked and paint chipped.

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"Only a quick overnight stop on a night when the weather was dreadful. We were very wet and tired so a lift would have been appreciated although we were offered help with our baggage. The dining room was also quite dimly lit for breakfast and would have been more suited to a romantic dinner but the cooked breakfast was the best we had had during our four nights away. " (97883295)
Excellent breakfast Room, Linen etc very clean
Very subdued lighting making it difficult to read Unable to turn on heater Wardrobe knob was broken Bed on the small side

The range of facilities were really good. As were the staff.
The lighting in the rooms wasn't light enough a big central light would have worked better.

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"The restaurant was poor. The dinner menu was limited, and such that by second sitting the one popular choice was all gone. We had to make do with a very greasy risotto and a double starter of chicken wings. The house wine was rough. Breakfast on the first morning was marked by the staff bringing us two poached eggs on kippers. What we had asked for was two poached eggs on toast (for me) and kippers (for my partner), and this was eventually brought. On the second morning we ordered the same breakfast and were duly served with the same incorrect combination. This time the correct order was not brought. After 35 minutes we asked the head waiter and eventually received our breakfast ten minutes after that. The buttered toast was unbuttered, the mixed toast unmixed. Dinner entertainment was pleasant on both nights, but might better have ended at eleven rather than midnight. The swimming pool was well heated and the whirlpool enjoyable. A note in hotel rooms about the necessity of a pound coin for lockers would be a good idea." (97187483)
The fact that we were transferred after our first night to a different room without fuss. Room heating was good.
Walls are very thin: entertainment prevented any sleep before midnight on our first night, and was clearly audible even on the second floor on our second night. The snoring gentleman in the next room was also clearly audible.

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"Comfortalbe hotel and convenient for Oxford and surrounds. Food of good standard although small extras charged - eg extra vegetables charged, also no bread rolls at evening meal which I personally missed - small economy by hotel perhaps? Good breakfast selection. Good value for a weekend break." (97296677)
Well serviced room and comfortable. Bar and dining room very nice.
Accommodation decor and fittings looking a little dated and tired in my opinion, toilet difficult to flush, bottom of bathroom door slightly damaged. Reception area also in need of some attention - eg carpet edges taped down. All small points but noticeable.

everything, apart from we had to climb up four sets of stairs to reach our room and I found this very hard.
we were allocated a top floor room which had very inadequate ceiling height, the person using the right side of the bed had to crawl bent over to avoid the sloping ceiling, as it was we both hit our heads on the low sloping ceiling, the room would have been fine as a single room, as a double room it was woefully inadequate.

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"My Partner and I were very impressed with the attitude of all your staff. We very much enjoyed staying and had a most enjoyable time. Our only slight disappointment was finding the room service menu more comprehensive than the actual restaurant menu. We were informed that the Hotel did not offer A la Carte on a Saturday. Other than that, it was a real pleasure to be a guest in your hotel." (97125299)
The best part of our stay was the friendly staff, a credit to your Hotel.
No minibar but room service was very efficent

Witney Four Pillars Hotel, Witney - Reviews & Ratings"It was our Pearl Anniversary. Hence our stay in the area. We requested flowers in the room as a special request but did not expect this request to be met. However, imagine our great delight to enter the room to a wonderful smell and a lovely bouquet of flowers with a message 'compliments of the hotel'. This was SO very welcome and it was a generous and much appreciated touch. This would certainly entice us to use the hotel again. 1. There was music in the restaurant after the meal on the Saturday. We did not mind this but it was obvious not everybody enjoyed this intrusion (shame). Perhaps make patrons aware that there maybe music. 2. It would have been nice to know if the hotel was set in grounds for walking, etc. Also directions to hotel from motorway would be helpful. Our routemaster sent us off through Witney but, in fact, the hotel is situated just off the motorway. However, maybe, we missed these things." (97911229)
Comfort of beds. Ironing, hair dryinbg facilities available if required. Chairs for relaxation.

The entire experience was excellent and was equal at least, and in a lot of cases much better than anything experienced in much more expensive hotels. It was MAGIC!
