    "Overall a pleasant experience" (108755949)

The restaurant was excellent and the views are really good.

The rooms are a bit basic and the bathroom facilities could do with modernisation.

Family run hotel at which we have stayed many times. Very peaceful rural location. Very convenient for the motorway. Off the beaten track so no problems with security for cars. Unfortunately when I booked I had forgotten that the very good restaurant at this hotel is closed on a Sunday evening.

"The reception was friendly. Food in the resturant for dinner was good, although we arrived just before dinner finished, due to late arrival. We also arrived late for breakfast, but before closure time and several items had been exhausted, so selection from the buffet was limited. Our short stay as enjoyable. " (107400738)

"Nice, peaceful hotel in quiet, picturesque location." (107349620)

Great views, rooms good, excellent food (though quite expensive)

No shops or restaurants nearby. Hotel food good but not cheap, 5 euros for pint of beer! We had to argue with man on reception about the price that we had booked through this website. He also asked us 3 times how many beds we had used, which seemed unnecessary.

"Well worth a stay from the room point of view and good value for money. We didn't try the restaurant as we were up too late in the morning and eating out with friends in the evening. Will stay there again in the future and will recommend to friends." (97586439)

We booked several months before on a 3 for 2 offer and our details were straight to hand when we booked in mid afternoon. The room was an upstairs room in the chalets at the rear of the hotel. It was larger than expected and there were two comfortable chairs for us to relax in. The radiator wasn't on when we arrived (about 4pm) but the room soon heated up when we turned it on. As advertised there was a shower in the bathroom which worked very well and provided a good flow (one of my hang ups about hotel showers). We liked the separate toilet and the facility of an additional shared toilet between the appartments. Directions to the hotel were good, but noting previous comments about finding it in the dark we would advise you keep an eye out for the hotel signs, of which there are plenty. This hotel is wonderfully set for visits to St.Omer or many of the surrounding towns - we went to the glass factory at Arques, well worth the visit. Check out was again organised with our bill already prepared.

"Excellent, and to be recommended to anyone wanting a short break or overnight stay. There is plenty to see and do in the locality." (107636926)

The accommodation and parkland surroundings were excellent, as was the service by the friendly staff. A very comfortable and relaxing mini break

The menus were superb, but the food was rather too little rich to enjoy every evening so we ate in the restaurant only once. Some lighter options on the menus would have encouraged us to eat there daily!

"Welcoming and very professional owners and staff. Our stay here was really enjoyable, a very pleasant experience." (97030181)

Excellent value for money, service was excellent, as was the food in the restaurant. We would fully recommend eating there, even if not a hotel guest.

Hotel - No bad points. Booking Agent - We booked through HotelRoom.com which did not give an option of a quadruple room (although when we arrived we discovered the hotel has one) so ended up booking 2 twins rather than a family room. The hotel did their best and put us in adjacent rooms but it would have been nice for the Agent to offer availability in a family room.

The hotel was excellent value for money and a lovely hotel.

The manager was rather 'grey' and not very helpful. His excuse was that he couldn't speak much english. Upon checking out, when he tried to charge me more than the confirmed amount, I discovered that he could soon speak plenty of English then!!!

    "Enjoyable and relaxing" (97564881)

    Environment and views. Restaurant.

The bed was in need of replacement as it sagged in the middle. The room door lock failed to latch but locked OK. Our chalet was in need of refurbishment which appeared to be in progress in the hotel in general. Outside lights should be sensor operated for late returnes.

"We enjoyed our stay despite the lack of warmth offered by the reception staff. The domestics were very cheerful and helpful so that made up for it! " (97229036)

Beautiful location on the edge of a pretty village, quiet and peaceful. No problems finding the hotel, 30 min drive from Calais and a 5 min drive into St Omer. The accommodation was spacious, very clean and comfortable.

The person on check in was polite but not as friendly or welcoming as we are used to in other hotels we have stayed in. We avoided going into the main reception as we felt we were causing an inconvenience asking information and as a result didn't bother using the restaurant.

"Overall this is an excellent little hotel, with a very pleasant family run atmosphere. The food in the restaurant was to die for and although not as cheap as some other hotels in the area, I would have to say worth every penny if you want a short break of luxury and pampering. The hotel itself is still going through what can only be described as a major redevelopment however it is nearing an end now and should be fully functional again by the start of the 2008 season. These works however did not in any way detract from the quality of service provided by the accomodation and staff and will simply enable me to enhance my ratings upon my next stay to one of excellence. Thankyou to all at La Sapiniere for a wonderful experience and we look forward to staying again soon." (97806450)

Excellent service from the restaurant. Exquisite food. Calming and pleasant surroundings. Good proximity to St.Omer. Beautiful Abbey just outside the grounds. Very clean and warm rooms with the added bonus of seclusion away from the main hotel building. Ample parking.

Finding the hotel in the dark without extremely good directions can be a little frustrating, a large well lit sign wouldn't go amiss but this may come with the refurbishment. Other than that, I cant fault the place.

"Good standard, clean, tidy hotel. The building work is nearly finished (3-4 weeks we were told) but didn't detract from our enjoyment. Rooms are mainly located in chalet style annexes (4 per annexe) and are sizeable and clean. Restaurant was excellent (decor and food), would travel to eat there. All in all a good value overnighter with quality food." (97960133)

"Frustrating, impolite staff, appallingly signposted, mediocre room." (107264752)

Hotel did not allow check in after 11 until repeated phone calls were made to the reception. No night bell was provided and initially staff refused to open the doors, despite our arrival, after dark, in countryside with no other nearby option to sleep. Also - no signposting (except for a single sign which pointed 180 degrees the wrong direction!)
