excellent bed, good decor,reception staff very helpful.
Very noisy at front of hotel, trafiic noise. No iron in room but Trouser press-sexist ! dinner cheap but poor quality, food obviously kept warm for some time. Had to ask for water, wine list not offered. Service slow and surly. Poor lighting in room, mirror over dressing table could not be used while seated. One medium sixed bath towel is not enough.

Could not get into the car park due to a wedding, had to carry luggage quite a way. No plug near a mirror (to use the hairdryer.

Value for money-excellent well priced evening dinner, popular with the locals so we were glad that we booked in advance. The hotel was very quiet and we enjoyed a good nights sleep.
The on-line booking service offered us rooms at £49 and £60. We chose the more expensive option-the hotel subsequently denied that there was a cheaper option!Faulty light in the bathroom (minor easily remedied problem) Some saucers or beer mats in the room to put our hot tea mugs on would have been useful-we used the FOC notepad to avoid putting any rings on the furniture

Overall the hotel was excellent. Superb level of cleanliness, staff friendly and gave highly efficient service - also very smartly turned out.
Breakfast quality was a bit poor - we all had a long drive ahead of us and the portions were very small.

The rooms were good,and the catering (breakfasts,and the dinner we had one evening) were also good.The staff were also very accommodating throughout.
Our suite on floor 3 was very warm,and although eventually we worked out how to keep the temperature down it wasn't ideal.The shower screen in the bathroom didn't function properly,and so we found that taking a shower tended to spray water all over the bathroom floor.And the main problem with our suite in terms of its operation as two separate spaces was that it wasn't possible via a door to shut off the bedroom area from the lounge area,so when one of us wanted to go to bed the noise of the tv in the lounge area being watched by the other of us was a problem.

Friendly staff; great restaurant & bar; great to have a bathroom which includes a bath as well as a shower
Room had been damaged by previous guest - holes in wall & wardrobe door - we would have expected the hotel to offer to move us once we reported these damages, even though they were cosmetic. The bed was also poor - weak, practically non existent, springs.

I was very happy with the hotel and I thought the staff were very helpful. A enjoyable experience.
It was a shame that the gym was not with the hotel but apart from that I cannot give any bad points about the hotel.

Very happy with our room very comfortable bed and the cleanliness was excellent, most staff in the hotel were very friendly, little disappointed with bar staff and the price of a single drink.
Very disappointed with our breakfast bacon was burnt in places and raw in others also tasteless beans were cold overall breakfast could of been much better, it is a shame to say we have had much better breakfasts in wetherspoons.

Executive room was big with huge bathroom, nice fruit and chocolates, bath robes, etc, overlooking the lawns.
Difficult parking had to park offsite overnight. Breakfast a shambles, too few staff trying to clear tables and wait on people. When it came was half cold. Better to have a buffet twice the speed and half the hassle.

Bannatyne Hotel Darlington, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversery and all in all the stay was very enjoyable. there was a wedding on the saturday and our only complaint as such was the bar area got very crouded when they arrived and after their meal. We were told on the sunday that the fruit and chocolates would be replenished and the ones taht were left were taken away. however they were not. the staff were very friendly and accomodating, the evening meal was very enjoyable and reasonably priced." we were allocated a room but when we arrived it was not ready we were put in another that was not so good so we asked to be put back in to our original room. our request was granted without any problem and the room was much nicer with a better view.
original room did not look clean and the bathrobes looked grey white colour. the view was of the carpark.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the accomodation was up to the usual high standard. The only meals I had during my stay were the inclusive breakfasts, and these were very tasty as always. I have stayed here many times and the standard was excellent as usual.
The only negative aspect was the lack of parking on Saturday night when I returned after an evening out, due to an event taking place in the hotel which had caused the car park to completely fill up.

The hotel entrance was a little awkward to find by car but when found there was plenty of car parking space. The staff were friendly and informative to the extent they posted a letter under the door of our room infoming us of the ideal times to go to breakfast on 2nd day. The English Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. We were very pleased with the whole experience and will definately revisit and also recommend to friends & family." (97314724)

The hotel is well positioned for the town centre, has character and was excellent value for money.
Some aspects of the bedroom decor required maintenance - there was a nasty open join in the carpet just as you entered the room
