Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"Initially a nightmare but not too bad." (108510994)
See bad points first. The receptionist was extremely helpful and extra beds/towels were moved into our room to accomodate the children. He told us who to complain to , was very transparent and open. Dining room staff were helpful. Having had an initial bad impression the staff tried hard to rectify this.
On booking the room I reserved a "family room" for myself, husband and 2 children. The booking form wanted to know how many adults would be staying in the room but did not want to know how many children. I entered 2 adults only believing that to enter 4 would incur extra charge for 2 adults. Upon arrival at 21.15hrs after an 11 hour car journey the receptionist informed us that the room reserved was for 2 adults only and 0 children. The websitem is not interested in the number of children staying and obviously should be. The hotel was fully booked.

Very clean and comfortable in a good location with plenty of parking close by. A good place to finish the break before catching the ferry home.
None really - perhaps not very French?

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"Adequate hotel for our overnight stay. Close to Eurotunnel and ferries." (97848849)
We asked for a baby cot and got one - not always guaranteed, so it was good. Reception staff spoke excellent English. Good view from the room.
Bit expensive to not have breakfast included.

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"A very clean and orderly hotel nicely situated at the end of the main street. The view from my room was good as it over looked the harbour. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times before and it seems to have maintained the first class customer care. If I have one criticism it would be that I had to use a third party to get a better room rate." (97521128)
Very clean, comfortable room and friendly staff.

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"Parking area below hotel is very very small, and only accessable via a very small car lift. There is plently of onstreet free parking, which is probably a better alternative. I was warned about breakins to vehicles, but there didn't seem to be any problems. Very central location to all the restaurants and shops in central Calais." (97524901)
easy location from Eurotunnel. Room was small, but clean. Thought at first was going to be noisy but had a very restful night.

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel in excllent location and ten minutes drive from eurotunnel, ferry even closer. Good food at reasonable price for evening dining. good parking facilities right outside hotel. The hotel and eurtunnel travel worked well together for a relaxing week-end away. We would recommend travel by eurotunnel and the Holiday Inn if you have limited time available - they worked very well together. A thoroughbly enjoyable week-end which offered value for money." clean with more than adequate facilities for our overnight stay. hotel in good location for beach, bars, markets etc. staff friendly excellent breakfast included

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"i was impressed that we were allowed back into our room after checking out as our Eurotunnel train time was changed to 4 hrs later than expected. there was absolutely no difficulty in accessing our room again and even managed to get more sleep before our long journey back up to Glasgow. Very kind of the staff." (97063620)
I was so impressed that it was no problem at all bringing the dog into the hotel. There is always such a fuss made however we were treated the same as if the dog was not there. room fantastic.
menu for room service could have better options

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"Good clean rooms with mini bar/ tea and coffee facilities. Bathroom was very clean and modern which was good. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely use this hotel again but I would ask for a front facing room as I didn't like big windows that opened fully at back and view wasn't nice at back. great parking as well either on street or secure parking" (99694244)
clean modern rooms with good bathrooms. plenty of parking both secure/on street. staff efficient and friendly. would stay over again, as standards are good at this Hotel.
hot food at breakfast was a bit grim, but cold food good large windows at back of hotel open wide, not great for young children

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"The stay was very pleasant and very convenient for us. We came straight off the late evening ferry (with two dogs). Hotel is easy to find. Parked the car close to the hotel and we could see the car and the sea from our hotel window which was nice. Check in was very quick and easy. Room was clean and nice and modern and nice comfortable bed. Bathroom well equipped. Represented good value for money with nice pleasant people at check in desk. There was a nice breakfast available but we left without eating as we were pushed for time. I would without doubt use this hotel again." (99636847)
We were on our way to our house in SW France with our two dogs. It was a pleasure to arrive at the hotel to be greeted by two lovely ladies who were exceptionally pleasant and it was indeed a late check in. It was nice that the hotel accapted the dogs and we would return again when doing to same trip.

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel was being decorated during our stay and this was not nentioned when booking took place. It did not inconvience us!! Happy hour in bar is not really happy hour as what happens you buy a drink at a high price then you get the next drink free but effectively you are paying for this when you buy your first drink. The hotel room was clean and tidy, also everything worked in the room." (97526954)

It was easy to find. Rooms were pleasant and clean. Parking was no problem. The location was ideal for a selection of the local restaurants.
At 1 am a siren (presumably something to do with the harbour) went off and the room was not soundproofed enough to stop it being heard.

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"This hotel offered everything we needed for a one night stay in Calais. Rooms were quiet and well equipped. Our room set up with a spiral staircase was novel and may have been a problem for less able guests. Our friends staying at the hotel did not have this feature, so not all rooms are the same. With so many local restaurants close at hand, the only problem was choosing one or of course the hotel had its own!" (99569993)
Central location with on street parking right outside the front door
Spiral staircase linking bedroom with onsuite was tricky during the night

Holiday Inn Calais, Calais - Reviews & Ratings"An expensive stay" (99476714)
Room size and cleanliness
Put in a room where persons had been smoking - although requested a no-smoking room. Poor comfort of beds. Having to pay an extortionate 12.50 euros for use of Wifi Internet - normally free at other hotels we stay in.
