"The Camponile is a good average hotel. There are no fancy gimicks because you get what you paid for. We didn't pay for broken equipment or rooms that have not been thoroughly cleaned." (108997194)

The Camponile is generally good value for money.

We have stayed at the Camponile in Calais several times before but unfortunately the rooms and equipment are now getting a little tired. I might have to look for an alternative when we go back.

"This reduces my chance of usin Campanille again." (107932408)

Only disappointment was the quality of the food compared to previos visits. When travellling I always chose a Campanille as I knew I could get a good meal on site.Evening meal was very poor-tough and uninteresting.

The Camponile was as good as ever. We have tried other hotels including other Camponile hotels and none measure up to this one.

" Would not stay again after a long journey would expect a decent meal - what we had was very basic and poor quality and very expensive - for the first time in our life a Mac Donalds would have been better." (107753210)

    Reception staff and room OK

Very disappointed in Resturant - Staff unhelpful. Poor menu availability, several items unavailable, not even an egg for a omlette - bad house keeping.

Buffet Continental Breakfast - 8 euros for a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee - far too expensive, that was per person.

Only one extra pillow in room so we had to ask for extra. This has happened on every ocassion we have stayed at this hotel. Meal in the evening was not good as my husband's dinner was icy cold in the middle. On complaining to the waitress she did not seem to understand and just said "Thank you". On checking out we spoke to the gentleman on reception who did not seem to understand either. This was most disappointing as we were looking forward to a nice meal as this was a 50th birthday treat and we had good meals in the restaurant on previous visits.

"Having stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years, there seems to be a decline in the general condition. " (108051838)

General state of the hotel was clean and welcoming

Check in at the hotel was sorted out efficiently considering they had not received the booking from Active Hotels, for the second weekend running we had to change rooms due to faulty blinds and lack of curtains at the windows.

"See my comments above. The hotel is I would say among the best that is on offer around Calais." (97249384)

The Camponile is in a quiet part of Calais away from all the main roads. It is ideal for when you are on a shopping trip and on limited time to carry out all that is needed. We went to the dock area and sat watching the cross channel ferries arriving and leaving. We then found the best restaurant that I have eaten in for ages and definietly comparable to 15 and the Waterside at Bray. The restaurant is La Grand Blue.

Someone had been smoking in the lobby area of my room and the ashtray still had three cigarette butts in it.

"Haven't stayed in a Campanile for some years but recall them being good value stopover hotels in the past. I was totally satisfied with the location of the hotel, the service for our very brief visit, and the bed was extremely comfortable! However, I do think the price wasn't as good value as I've experienced in the past and we did stay in a tourist town much further south the following night and paid slightly less for a better room and location, much to my surprise! I would recommend this hotel however, and am likely to use it again when getting the late Eurotunnel crossing as it's convenient for an early start to the following day." (97528381)

Convenient location just a few minutes from the Eurotunnel terminal

Good beds, good food at reasonable price, coffee making equipment, good parking, and good English spoken.

One of the two heaters not working, and one of the bedside lights missing. Also, television too close to kettle making it difficult to use.

"I have stayed in several Campanile's before in different areas of France and have always found them to be clean with friendly helpful staff. The restaurants have always had a good menu and the food was well cooked. The only comment I would make is that the room's should have extra pillows in them. Other than that everything was fine." (97258116)

Clean hotel and rooms. Friendly staff.

Secure, knowing that the room was always accessible to us.The staff were always available.

Parking was at times difficult ,without going into the overflow car park.

Accomodation adequate, clean and central to routes to various areas.

The breakfast menu was restricted and not kept stocked up for the later breakfasters. In winter hot options would be desirable.

"We had the Campanil booklet and found the information contained in it was easy to follow. When arriving in the location it was quite easy to find the hotel. Not perfect, mind!! It was rather good for us to find that the staff spoke a little English. If they didn't they were very helpful and we managed well. One of the most welcome things was the tea making facility. After a long journey to be able to make a drink is very good." (99158486)

The ease in which everything was attended to. The excellent meals. The good value for money. The helpful staff.

Ideal for good value, basic, one night stopover accommodation. Easy to find from port, reception open for our late arrival. Quiet, got the good sleep we needed for onward long journey. Would book again.

Rather musty sort of smell in room and hand basin very slow indeed to empty.

Adequate for an over night stop, with good attention from the staff. Resturant and food in excess of what we expected, i.e. very good

Caiais room one is a disabled room, no problem with that, except the bath is a knee bath and not quite adequate for an ageing motorcyclist to get into for a hot soak after a long ride/drive. Not any ones fault as no one is to know what means of transport visitors are using, but might be an op[tion on the booking form, which could also offer (possibly) more secure parking for motor cycles. I do not know how many Bikers you have visiting a year, but we are all very security concious, as it only take a couple of people with van to steal a motorbike. Ground achors are one possibilty but probably not that practical in a general car psrk facility. Some thing else ou might look into; many people are now using sat navs, and finding places abroad without a given post code or map co-ordinates is difficult. This I have found to be the case on several occasions in France as when you enter a town name, there are always several options, and very little way of knowing which and where each one is.

    Clean. Tea/coffee making facilities.

Cigarette burn in bed cover. Toilet paper placed in a pile on bathroom shelf. Very compact room.
