very clean everywhere, relaxed atmosphere, friendly, had a parking space which was very important as we used a bus or taxi for our stay.
the bedside lamps were not very well designed, they tended to fall apart. we were also dissapointed with the internet connection,did not really work.the flowers on the table in the dining room were dead, better to have none than dead ones.on one of the leaflets it said it would take 10 mins to walk into the City by the river walk, but it would only take 10 mins if you jogged. would have prefered the truth because my partner has a poorly leg.

The guest house was very clean and tidy. The owners were very friendly and offered a warm and welcoming stay to the Hollies. Breakfast was very good with a choice of alternatives.

pleasant accomodation close to city centre
Being woken at between five and six every morning by the proprieter's two year old daughter screaming loudly. An alarm clock was not required and this was particularly annoying as we felt we had not had a decent night's sleep

Location - easy walking distance of city centre. Parking available.
Insufficient hot water for bath. General smoky smell even though supposed to be a non smoking hotel. Room was cold on arrival.

This was the second time we have stayed at The Hollies and as usual everything was fantastic. I caanot fault the cleanliness of the rooms, friendliness of the staff and the service. Will definately stay there again!!
Parking is quite limited, especially if people are not considerate in how they park their car. However this is not the fault of the hotel, as they have done everything possible to maximise the space available.

Parking was good, because it was on the premises and not on the road.
I read the reviews before our stay and noticed that one of the rooms had a cracked sink in it. It still hasn't been changed. I know this because it was in our room.

The rooms are spacious, very clean & well decorated throughout. The booking in procedure was simple & what you see on the web-site is genuine. There is plenty of parking space either on the premises or on a quiet side street right by the hotel. We had an excellent breakfast that was well-cooked & big in proportion. Finally, Mark & his familly were the ideal hosts, very friendly & helpful which gave the hotel a nice laid back atmosphere partnered with a satisfyingly efficient service. Incredibly, it was one of the cheapest places that I found online too!!!" (3305499692)
The ideal location meant we were able to walk into York without worrying about driving or parking up costs. The price and value for money of our stay was pretty much unbeatable.
We found no negatives about our stay whatsoever.

could not work the satellite unit which was located on top of the wardrobe,the door closer was broken which made it bang shut, the bed covering was a thick duvet and too hot

Clean, spacious, well equipped, extra touches appreciated such as shelf in shower to hold shampoo etc instead of having to bend up and down all the time.
