Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"slightly marred by the fact that i fell on the steps, so did another guest. there were 5 steps down, 4 were marked with metal/rubber edgings, the last one was not. also no hand rail at these steps. when reported at check out, no concern was shown, except the comment we had inspection 3 weeks ago and they did not mention it! It would have been nice to have been asked if i was hurt, which i am, having a massive bruise to prove it." (97981223)
central location
radiator could not be turned down, room was like a sauna.

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"A spare blanket in wardrobe would be good idea as would duvet that was slightly larger than bed so didn't have draft along edge at night. Direct dialling into room would be helpful as I was receiving calls from overseas and they could have been made at any time not just when staff at reception." (107254369)
Room cleaned well every day. Breakfast staff cheery and polite
Staircase extremely narrow to negotiate with suitcase. Noisy at night Barfood overpriced Bar staff kept up continuous conversation with friends while serving.

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"It is a shame the matress was so uncomfortable otherwise I would have given a good review of the hotel. I could recommend it only to young persons who look for a fairly cheap hotel and don't mind of a bad night sleep." (97403696)
Nicely and centraly located in town (Corsham), easy to find, 15min driving from bath, reasonable rates.
Unfortunately, the matress was of poor quality (you could feel the springs), resulting with a bad sleep and a back ache in the morning.

Incredibly friendly and helpful manager.
Room was adequate, but TV reception was bad and the bathroom small. Still for the price it was satisfactory. Would have been good to have the option of a later breakfast. Didn't get up in time to receive mine.

Service; lovely breakfast; attractive and historical building
Temperature control of shower - hot water disappeared as soon as the cold tap was turned. Either had to be 100% hot or 100% cold

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"Very poor value. We later paid only " (108053088)
The hotel interior is very much past its sell-by date. The decor in our room was extremely dated (could the wallpaper and the torn border date back to the sixties?). To say it was tatty is an understatement, the floors were uneven and the beds possibly represented a health hazard.

The room was clean, basic and met my requirements. The hotel staff were helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable of the area. The central location in Corsham was a good plus point.
There are no aspects that I disliked.

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent service and large well equipped room. Ideal location for visiting Bath but well away from the crowd and hustle and bustle of the city. One small issue with the matress , it was really hard and a little lumpy and there were no spare pillows provided in the room. I am sure if I had taken the trouble to ring room service they would ha gladly have delivered more pillows but it would be better if they were readily available." (97419474)

Breakfast
Room 12 was a twin room one bed VERY HARD the other very soft and you could feel the springs. The en-suit smelt of damp the bath was very small and the shower was useless going from very cold to very hot when others in the hotel used water. The windows had cobwebs and not been cleaned for many months. The room looked clean but a closer inspection it was dirty.

Food was a disappointment work required to actually produce what is stated on the menu, and to produce a good level of basic cookery techniques. bar would benefit from selling a basic range of soft drinks" (99179301)

Food and public rooms were good and clean to a standard you would expect. The decoration in our room was very tired, the floors were very uneven and moved as you walked. Our main comlaint however was the en-suite, which was not only tired but dirty. The shower did not work properly going from scalding hot to very cold almost instantly." (3304933222)

The service from all the staff was excellent as was the quality of the food.
The decor in our room(26) and the bathroom could have been fresher ie. some signs of mould from damp/steam which made the appearance uninviting.

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"We stood for 10 minutes at the reception on arrival and rang the bell 5 times for attention. The room was adequately decorated but the overwhelming damp smell was uncomfortable and I couldn't have stayed more than one night. The bar staff were pleasant, the breakfast was substantial and restauarant staff were good. The room itself was clean so was the bed linen and towels etc, Overall the accomodation was very dated." (3305195278)
The restuarant was very good and the waitresses were very polite and pleasant
The room stank very strongly of damp, and the bathroom was extremely dated, the toilet cistern wasn't fitted to the wall correctly and the extracter fan was filthy

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"If we had realised about the windows in the room . We would have asked for a room with window view. The other downside , was the hight of the Bath !!! Its very deep, and we feel that an older person would have difficulty in taking a shower, due to the size of the bath. Apart from these 2 downsides . The Hotel was very nice and quiet !!! Clean , and staff friendly. If we had stayed for longer than one night however, we would have wanted to move to a better room ." (3304774596)
The Hotel is situated in a lovely village !!! The breakfast was huge, and very enjoyable. The staff are pleasant .
We did not like the room, as there were no windows, low enought to see through. It felt very closed in.Prefer with Windows.Would have been very hot in there, in the middle of summer.

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were late arriving (even later than we had warned them) and there was no problem. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely return again if in the area. It's an interesting, historic building in a beautiful town. Because it is a historic building it is missing things like lifts which would probably give it more stars. It has a useful Internet Hot Spot." (3304821135)
It was clean, pleasant and comfortable and had all the facilities we required. Breakfast was plentiful and good.
Noise from other residents at night. One bar meal was unsatisfactory.

Methuen Arms, Corsham - Reviews & Ratings"A lovely hotel with character and history, apparently frequented by Royalty! Very pleasant dining area and outdoor gardens to enjoy a quiet drink in the good weather. Easy route to Bath along the A4. When trying to find the Hotel make sure you go to the junction of High Street with Pickwick Road, I went to the other end and it's one way, this is not very clear when you check multimap postcode! I would definitely stay again." (3304841394)
Lots of safe free parking. Good food . Room clean and quiet with a comfy bed. Staff friendly and helpful.
A fan in the room would have been appreciated as I was there on a very hot day/night, it's cheaper than installing 'air con'.
