Although very full due to a local race meeting, fortunately 90 guests had cancelled evening meal which allowed us space to 'eat in'. Room was spacious and comfortable
Very noisy and drunken guests in bar area so no pre-dinner drinks for us! vomit on carpet was rapidly cleaned.

Bar snacks not the best value or presented well, ie. burger and chips is just that..no salad or garnish on burger or plate spoiling a good quality burger,eggs on gammon meal under cooked,might have been chefs night off as the rest of the food was very good.

It's situated on the main A55 (dual carraigeway) so it is noisy, and to get in and out you have to continually back track on yourself

Ease of access to and from A55.Breakfast and the pleasant member of staff that served us.
Our room on the 3rd floor was a smoker when we had specifically requested a non smoker.The bathroom although clean was very tired with several of the fittings broken. The TV was impossible to watch on chanels 1,2,3,4,5. This was fixed for our 2ond night's stay.

Asked for a room at the back of the hotel to be away from traffic on the A55, but lots of noise form kitchen fans/ electrical equipment. Perhaps I could have followed up, but didn't.

All completely spoilt by a flimsey fold down bed in my bedroom (so that the room could be converted to a small conference room. Smart, modern
The bed was dreadfull. The room was set up to enable it to be converted to a small conference room and the bed was a fold-down bed which creaked loudly at every movement! The one thing you want on an overnight stay after a long journey is a comfortable bed.

It was plasant to have a table and chairs in the room as well as the usual desk / vanity table. The only problem is the directions to get to the hotel. There are two junctions next to each other, if you take the first one, you get diverted past the service area and onto a road towards Wrexham, which required us to take a U turn and head a few miles back up the dual carriageway to get on the correct side of the road again. The rooms were clean and well organised.
1.The first room had electrical fault. The receptionist offered us an upgrade but the jacuzzi did not work in that room either. The bed setee in the first room was so suggy the you could not sit in it. 2. The service in the restaurant was abismal. We have booked a table for 20.30 and presented ourselves at 20.30 at the restaurant desk. We were given the menus and asked to sit at the bar area. We have waited until the other two groups that arrived After us were asked for their choice when I approached the person who seemed to take the orders and placed an order for two mixed grills. When the food was ready two large plates were presented of the wrong shape so that everything was piled on top of each other into what i would call a mess. The chips were black, the sausage of poor quality and the steak was over cooked and looked like a piece of rubber. At no stage were we asked how we would like our steak to be cooked. Also we were never advidsed of the availability of salads. The breakfast was even worst. The table was not properly prepared, (I had to take a cup from the table next to us), I had to go through four plates before i found a clean one, the cold meats consisted of thick slices of wet roast pork, the boiled eggs were covered with red marks, and the overall restaurant service was below the Greasy Spoon level and it seemed that nobody had ownership of the service.

Holiday Inn A55 Chester West, Northop - Reviews & Ratings"Generally, the hotel was just about adequate but I would not choose to stay for more than one or two nights because of the relatively isolated position. Food was quite good, the breakfasts particularly so, but we were rather unfortunate in terms of room allocation and this certainly jaundiced our overall view! Our disappointment was conveyed to the Duty Manager at check-out and an acceptable compromise was reached by way of a fair discount on the bill. Staff were helpful and friendly. We stay at Holiday Inns fairly regularly but do not think this particular venue matched previous enjoyable experiences - it is unlikely we would use it again on one of our at least annual visits to the area." Our stay was a brief one - two nights only. The meals, were good, especially the breakfasts. Hotel was convenient for the purposes of our visit, but it was a little isolated, being located on the A55, and a little way from towns/villages - we couldn't go anywherein the evenings, other than by car! However, soundproofing was good with little traffic noise, bearing in mind thr close proximity of the Expressway.
The room allocated to us was small and certainly not in keeping with the brochure/internet illustration of 'standard' bedroom accommodation. As our arrival time was late and our proposed stay a short one, we did not raise the issue until check-out. Explanation given was that the hotel was fully booked due to a wedding reception but, in fairness, our bill was discounted by a third without a direct request for a reuction!

The accommodation was good value and a convenient location for our purpose. Staff were friendly, rooms comfortable and breakfast excellent.
We were given an invalid room which was not very handy as the washbasin was extremely low. It would have been nice to have been informed of this when checking in.

For some reason we were allocated a better room than we actually asked for or paid for and it was really lovely. Judging by the standard of the hotel itself, I can't imagine that anyone could be disappointed with the lower grade rooms either. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we would definately use this hotel again. I think it would have been helpful if instructions for use of the air conditioning were left in the room." We had to be at a wedding which started at 2:30 so could not check in before the wedding. This meant that we had to go to the ceremony, then drive back, check in, then drive back to the wedding again which was a slight inconvenience. Friendly staff, good restaurant, room was OK but had to change because aircon wasn't working.
The cleaner didn't make our bed, she simply covered it with the cover and left eth sheets etc in a jumble, we reported this locally after it happened a second time, very slovenly.
