The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel gave me a good impression" (107379451)
I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
When I booked on the internet I booked for 4 nights but when I arrived at the hotel it was only booked for 1 night. Luckily I was still able to stay for the 4 nights as I was told they were busy. With regard to my food I did have to wait quite a while for my dessert although the chef did send his apologies.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"A little disappointing." (107848184)
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food. Well kept ale.
Too much dust in public rooms and bedroom. Music too loud in bar and in dining room, where it is NOT necessary. No cooked breakfast as chef failed to turn up but reception unable to give refund. Not informed that there was a disco on first floor until midnight.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Lovely old building and comfortable, if slightly shabby, room. Could be more attention paid by staff to not banging doors, as the sound carries very audibly round the building. " (107698276)
Room was comfortable. Breakfast was good and the waitress was polite and helpful.
Our reservation had been recorded by the hotel for the wrong day - however, I was told I "was lucky" as there was a room available. No apology, although I had written evidence of the booking. Checking in seemed a bit chaotic. Drainage in the bathroom was very slow, but the water was nice and hot. Lots of door banging during the night.

very comfy bed, room very clean, food very nice, pleasant stay all round thankyou, you had over booked us but had sorted the rooms around to accommodate us which we very much appreciated
Only not allowed to use the internet when it stated we could, we had to pay and was a bit surprised, maybe a free half an hour would be a courteous service maybe but just a thought

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"I wish I'd known there was no lift available. When two senior citizens travel (and take heavier luggage than they should!) it's essential to have a lift. We were saved when we arrived because a dear young staff member hoisted our luggage upstairs however, we bumped it down ourselves when it was time to leave." (97720767)
Convenient to the town center as well as the railway station. Pleased to have the breakfast facility. Appreciated the heat coming on during our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Available parking a big help.
The pant press did not work in our room. I had to request for the 'iron and ironing board in every room'. Breakfast was okay but not exceptional; little variety. People running in the hallway at 2 a.m.! No lift.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is obviously very old and has changed little over the years. The decor in the communal areas could have been better. The staff were attentive but maybe a little naieve, I asked for a fish knife for my sea bass and the waitress at first didn't know what one was, then went to find out if they had any, then when she found out they didn't offered me a steak knife. The food was excellent but considering the number of fish specialities there should have been fish knives." (97992975)
Very good decor and large comfortable bed.

Our twin room was spacious and pleasant, with sofa and seating area, and windows looking out in 2 directions.
The bathroom (on the twin room) was shabby. The single room was very small and cramped.

The size of the room and the fourposter bed! (Sakespear suite)
Very large oldfashioned TV- poor reception on 1 & 2, only programmes 1 to 5 and TV could not be turned to allow viewing in bed.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is basic and adequate but it's old world appearance belies the reality of the interior. The initial impression of the reception area wasn't good because of the smell of cigarette smoke and the slot machines. The room was noisy because of the cistern from the gents loo next door, and the traffic outside. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good." (99286015)
Good breakfast. Room was adequate and staff were helpful and friendly.
Noisy cistern from gents loo next door to my room. Smell of cigarette smoke in downstairs areas of the hotel.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Huntingdon and the surrounding areas are really nice. The hotel was in a good central location and even though on the main ring road, there was no excessive noise. There wasn't really anything apart from the outside decor that you could fault but then again it is an old coaching inn." (99924496)
Staff were excellent, very helpful at all times. Rooms and hotel interior kept spotless at all times. Food served was excellent and good value for money.
Outside could do with decorating, looks a bit shabby for first impressions

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent location. Close to the train station and the downtown. Lovely courtyard. Just the place to relax after a long day. Providing the weather cooperates. And again, the staff was first rate. Friendly and helpful in all respects. The lady who cleaned my room, the waitress in the breakfast room and the bar staff come in for special mention. They made us, as visiting Canadians far from home, feel comfortable and secure. I would very much recommend this hotel." (99985835)
The staff made it a real treat. And of course, the beer was good too!
I would have prefered a smoking room but this was not a big deal.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel is full of character and is situated right in the middle of Huntingdon and is easily reached by car along the one way system. The staff were very efficient at check in and were very attentative to your needs. i had been pre-warned that the interior decorations were slightly run down but it was not as bad as I had expected as it was quite charming and very traditional. I thoroughly recommend eating at the restaurant as the dinner and breakfast was excellent quality and the portions were very generous. It was perfect for a business stop over." (99181123)
Location was very good and the food was an excellent standard.
Very squeaky floor boards and rooms could do with updating. Bath towel very small.

The George Hotel, Huntingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The age of the building made it a very interesting and charming place to stay and had it been summer I would have enjoyed it very much. I would stay again when I am in the area." (99260771)
It was a charming building which had everything needed in the room.
Lack of extra bedding (just 1 blanket). It was freezing outside and I ended up sleeping in my coat.

Great staff who made the atmosphere very good. All were hard working and pleasant
Not a lot. The hotel is old and the decor extremely tired, but all in all it is a nice place and well situated.

"The difficulties of the refurb work and no central heating were somewhat compensated by the helpful staff and the historic charm of the Inn. " (108772200)
The staff were helpful and courteous. The dining room for breakfast was very good but no other meals taken.
Unfortunately a major hotel refurbishment was in progress meaning that the bar and main foyer often resembled a building site and main doors wide open. The room on the third floor had no central heating and was in poor repair.
