Staff, food,
I had specifically booked the main restaurant when I booked for valentines night only to find that there was no space for us when we came down to eat!We had to eat in the conservatory part again(we ate in there on the friday night & we're looking forward to a different ambience on the saturday).We we're given a free bottle of wine to 'make up for it' but unfortunately it tainted the evening a bit as we we're expecting the main restaurant. Also, when we came doown to go into the restaurant, we we're told ' we were wondering where we were going to put you!' & that is me booking up well in advance & also staying in the hotel. However, the food was good, both nights. I felt unhappy as it was a surprise wkend for my wife & it spoiled it a bit especially when I had carefully planned what I wanted for the wkend.

Ease of parking, check-in, check-out. Rooms retain good standard of cleanliness.
Pillows very flat and uncomfortable - would be good if there were feather pillows available if required. Rooms very stark - a picture or two would make them more welcoming.

Food excellent - staff very helpful
Room was a single size with a double bed very little room to move around the one chair had to be placed in front of the wardrobe. Very limited choice of TV chanels (no sky or freeview) Bed very hard. Bath enamel chipped.Wall paper very dated.

The food was fantastic, breakfast lunch and dinner. The staff were charming and helpful.
The noisy tiny room for the 1st 2 days we stayed there, it was awful. We returned 2 days later for another 2 days.Irequested a quiet room on booking but did not get one. I asked for a quiet room for the second stay and this time I got one, it was also bigger, we were not tripping over our luggage all the time. Also the chap who seems to own it was very unfriendly, never ever said hello etc, we felt as if he resented people staying there. Most unwelcoming. Thank goodness the rest of the staff made up for him.

The quality of food and presentation were excellent and staff friendly and efficient.
It was extremely noisy at night- like trying to sleep adjacent to a Grand Prix circuit!

Apart from the room with the four poster bed the staff were so friendly and helpfull very clean and tidy hotel with a good bar and lay out of the bar/restaurant area and the food was very good too.

Nice helpful staff, quick reliable service. Breakfast was served at the table and was nice and fresh. Other hotels we stayed in this year were self service and the breakfast was not good and not served to table.
There was no water or drinks facility available in room. I could not find an iron when I wanted to iron something but im sure if I asked they would have provided me with an iron.

But there could be a little more attention to detail. The bathrooms are tacky. Some of the lampshades should be replaced, and the one in my room was very dirty. Friendly, efficient staff. Comfortable bed and room,providing a hair dryer, trouser press, TV and plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. Delicious breakfasts.
The bathrooms are poor and tired, and not particularly clean. They definitely need up-dating. The plumbing is delicate! The price of the room deserves better bathroom facilities. It was also a little chilly.

The service was good, the staff were excellent. The food in the restaurant was superb.
The rooms are in need of refurbishing - the bathroom especially - old tired fitments, being kept working past their best. I've stayed in much better equipped hotels for the same money! Ventilation fan noise from the kitchens below was a constant annoyance.

The staff were the best part, helpful and friendly.
The room was dowdy and in much need of decoration. The bathroom although large was also in need of modernising. The shower screen did not fit onto the side of the bath correctly which in turn left a hugh puddle on the floor and carpet in the hall, and by the state of the floor covering in the bathroom this was an obvious on-going problem which had not been dealt with.

The Staff are always excellent and we have always felt welcome.
The A27 right alongside the hotel is noisy 24/7. The double glazing helps unless you like a window open at night...

The breakfast was very good for both quality and quantity. The hotel has 2 dining areas, a la carte and casual, and because we had not booked ahead we could only use the casual area for our dinner. The food was outstanding for quality, cooking, service and price. We will have to visit again to try other dishes from the mainly fish menu." (99891563)

My husband had stayed there previously on business and had been impressed with his accommodation. The menu in the Restaurant was impressive and our meal excellent. We actually arrived too early for official check-in but were given a room anyway to leave our bags before going to a wedding in Brighton. The room contained everything a traveller should need and was very comfortable. The common areas (bar, etc) were clean and well furnished. The only very minor problem we encountered was that service at breakfast was quite slow and the orders were not right when they arrived but this might have been because they were short staffed on the Sunday morning. Well appointed room, bathroom exceptional. Evening young waitresses very pleasant. However, hotel operates strange procedure - I was not asked to sign a docket following the meal, thus the cash tip which we had on the table was not able to be given to the waitress, as I saw her going home.
Middle aged waitress serving breakfast, not congenial.
