Express By Holiday Inn Birmingham Nec, Marston Green - Reviews & Ratings"As far as I am aware, there was no mention that the hotel operates a complimentary shuttle bus to and from the NEC (and, I think, Birmingham International train station) at peak times in the morning and evening. For us this was a very welcome added extra." (108470251)
Convenient to NEC Birmingham. Set in a quiet location and overall the hotel was quiet. There is a pub located very close by and nothing else.

We were visiting the Minitura Show at the NEC, didn't want to travel far for the nights stay and initially I was a bit apprehensive because I thought the hotel was cheap. It was great value for money, very clean, stylish and had everything we needed and the pub next door serves lovely food." (108170696)

The hotel was very noisy during the night. The food at the Little Owl pub was very poor and as this was the only facility would put us off staying here again. We were hungry but the snack meal machine in the hotel was not working. Breakfast was only a cold buffet - not good value for money.

The rooms were prepared adequately with the third bed made in advance of our arrival. The rooms were neat and tidy and had enough facitlites for a short/weekend stay. The staff were friendly and answered out questions politely and efficiently.
We had to ask for extra cups and towels as they were not provided for on out arrival.

The first morning at breakfast I had to ask for plates and knives as there were not any. A lot of the tables needed clearing and it did look rather a mess. The second morning everything was fine.

exactly what we were expecting at a fair and reasonable price, nice clean rooms and hotel. bar had good selection of drinks at reasonable prices, as was the breakfast good selection of food.
the cash machine in the lobby did not despence my money trying to get it back some how :(

the staff on reception told us that we could not walk to the railway station as it was to far. it 20mins walk.

Good Room, clean hotel
Was told on phone I could check in at 12pm, when arrived told it was not til 3pm therefore had to change for an event in the BATHROOM! on eventual check-in I asked times of breakfast and was told 7-11 but was not told this would change depending on weekend or weekday and then when I pointed this out to a duty manager who responded "there is a big sign"

The hotel itself was good overall. The only bad point was the service of the food in the pub next door. Often there was considerable time between courses and when the meals arrived they were lukewarm at best. In future we may opt to eat elsewhere.

Staff friendly, extremely helpful and willing to accommodate our needs
Online booking a bit misleading, when trying to book for children too. Suggest phoning hotel after booking just to check that they have the correct booking.

Very clean and comfortable room.
Staff at reception not very communicative. Had delayed journey up from London and didn't arrive until 10:45 and there was no means of getting food from the hotel, not even a sandwich. Had to book a very poor takeaway which took 1.5 hours to arrive

Generally really good. Reception booked taxis for us. Breakfast was lovely. For a standard room, it was as expected, clean and tidy.
Bearing in mind the hotel was packed with gueats attending the NEC, the bar was under staffed on our return to the hotel (approx 10.45. They wouldn't accept cash, just room details. There should have been a snack menu, they would have made a killing! No facilities to obtain change to get nibbles/snacks from the machines. Sitting area in darkness and not very welcoming. Made to feel as if we were 'keeping them up'. We ended up ringing for a take away pizza and taking it up to our room. Alot of guests at breakfast, tables un cleared and needed wiping, again under staffed.

Continental breakfast was good. Room was clean and of good size. Staff polite and friendly. Free transfer service to station from hotel
Shower curtain smelt of damp. ran out of cups, knives at breakfast time. Had to book extra night which was £12 dearer than first night.

good clean facilities and helpfull staff
Breakfast was chaos,most of the tables had breakfast pots still left on them. There was no glasses,cups, knifes and trays for you to get your breakfast. The staffing seemed to be running around like headless chickens doing there best, but no one was clearing the tables which would have help them get enough pots in to wash so that they did not run out.

Poor bar staff. Came back from a concert at 11.30pm, as did a large number of other people. Only 2 members of bar staff on for a very busy period. Neither member of staff seemed to have a clue what they were doing & it took nearly an hour to get served. One member of staff in particular was very slow & very rude.

room very clean and well equipped - good value for money breakfast buffet well stocked the pub next door belonging to the hotel was excellent - good choice of food available for both lunch and dinner at a very reasonable price
we were kept waiting for rather a long time for the courtesy bus to collect us from the NEC and return us to the hotel - the next morning there was a very long queue of people all wanting to go the NEC and in fact some people had to book a taxi

The room was clean and well equipped. Staff on the desk were friendly and efficient. Vending machines in foyer good idea.
Breakfast was very disorganised. Went down at 9am and people were milling around looking for cups, glasses, knifes, spoons to eat/drink with. The danish pastries had run out and when more arrived they went straight away. Bit of a shambles and could do with organisation to keep everything running efficiently.

VERY GOOD OVER ALL
THE BREAKFAST WAS TO EXPENSIVE BARING IN MIND THE CREDIT CRUNCH, i HAVE JUST STAYED IN THE HOLIDAY INN AND THE BREAKFAST THERE WAS ONLY £6.95 WITH THE SAME THINGS TO EAT. MY ONLY BAD POINT

visiting the NEC and hotel was very close by, also provided a shuttle bus to the venue.
second bed that was provided for our 14year old daughter was very poor, thank goodness it was only one nights stay. We also requested another set of towels as we only had 2 towels, they never arrived.

Good restaurant next door. Good range of breakfast items.
No shuttle bus to NEC. Had to use taxis which were very disorganised at NEC.
