"My friends and I really enjoyed our overnight stay and would come back." (107300302)

    Loved the fantastic buffet breakfast.

Standard twin rooms were ok, not very big - just a bit cramped. But very comfortable, especially the beds.

"Hotel was immaculate, room service exellent, room tiny for two people" (107737166)

Main area's of the hotel were clean and very high quality

Room was tiny and at £166 you expected a little more floor space for your money and the double room consisted of two single beds pushed together

The Weekend was present for my Girlfriends Birthday and she received a complementary bottle of Champagne from the hotel - which was a lovely gesture

"Excellent - would definitely go back." (107120317)

Friendliness and efficiency of staff. Breakfast!

Both the website and the room information pack stated the restaurant was open all day. It was not. We had planned on having an early(1730'ih) pre theatre dinner buffet (included in the price) and confirmed this was possible on checking in. In fact the restaurant did not open until 1800 and then the hot food was not available until 1830. However the restaurant manager was very kind and helpful and offered us any choice of hot meal from the menu and it was cooked and served promptly. We were not made to feel awkward or silly and enjoyed a quick but pleasant meal. Pity the website/room information was not correct.

Night time Duty Manager seemed to be the only one that had a sense of customer service and regaining a customer's confidence in the brand. Very helpful and polite.

Check in staff General front of house staff Standard rooms and bathrooms are uncomfortably small

    very good value for money

Front facing rooms had a lot of outside noise - could do with being able to close the window vents or have double glazing

"I think that the world mix of your staff is great - however, this results in a low standard in one small area dear to the hearts of many English people. In other words the standard of tea-making is poor. It took 5 attempts at breakfast to get a hot pot of tea. Even when successful the teapot had what one can only describe as a very poor stream, and the milk provided was hot! Just a niggle - but important to me." (97301306)

    Clean, comfortable

The freshness of the room and very clean and reasonably new linen

The door (I had quite a lot of opening the door from both sides)

"We booked as a double/twin. As our stay was to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary I emailed the hotel to ask for a double. Not only did we get our wish of a double was we were also upgraded to an executive room with a complimentary bottle of champagne accompanied by a lovely note from the Quality manager! This, along with the friendliness of the staff helped make our stay that little bit more special. The whole experience was very much appreciated." (97456997)

We were lucky enough to be upgraded and found he experience totally satisfying. The room was superb, well decorated and very clean!

In adequate FOC refreshments in room, given 'Royal Service' booking - should have been more selection/amount of tea/coffee provision and complementary water/soft drinks - some fruit would also have gone down well

"excellent location and service, i think i was a bit unlucky with the room, though adequate, not worth the money... it was in an odd corner of the building, chances are most of their rooms would have been better... the bathroom was lovely..." (99762352)

The hotel is lovely, the staff are friendly and efficient

the room, though well kept and clean, lovely bathroom, a bit small and oddly shaped... to be fair, it was a single and probably not their best room

exellent service and facilities, great value for money and good location 1 min walk from portland st. tube. brekkie was a tad dear, didnt have any at

only complaints would be the bath was a little narrow and the receptoin staff were a little condecending, but im just picking tiny holes in an otherwise excellent hotel.

"Firstly, when booking the room, it was not made clear at all by active hotels that the price quoted did not include tax. The only time you find out for sure is AFTER you have booked and paid. A bit of an underhand and un-necessary practice really. However... On arrival, we were met by the doorman, who parked our car and took our luggage to the room as we checked in. We were invited to join the melia loyalty sheme on arrival, and this is something to recommend as you can take advantage of the benefits immediately. We were offered 2 breakfasts for the price of one and as loyalty card holders, we were allowed to check out at 4pm instead of 12 and we recieved a complimentary newspaper. The overall impression of the hotel was luxurious, although the rooms are a little tight and the bathrooms a bit dark. The bed was huge and comfortable and the room came with all the usual 4 star facilities. Conclusion...Very nice hotel, a bit pricey, but excellent location (oxford st. 10 min walk). but won't be booking with active hotels again." (99544446)

Nice, upmarket feel to hotel. Excellent Service.

Rooms a bit small, poorly illuminated bathrooms (deluxe room)

"Mixture of British and Spanish heritage, everything in a very good shape and great design. Rooms large and comfortable, even standard double. Only one minus would be that the card-based central electricity switch is invisible in the dark - so it is hard to switch the lights on until you open the door again..." (99750209)

Premium style, very high quality of everything and convenient location

Breakfast not included, shower temperature slightly variable:)

Very clean and well furnished, very good settings and acommodation generally - good value for money.

Booking people got my surname and first name mixed up so it took me ages to check in.

"The Melia White House hotel is conveniently situated right across the road from Gt Portland Street tube station. The rooms are clean with an attractive art deco feel but very cramped. The bathroom is tiny but very clean. The attraction of this hotel has to be its 5 star restaurant serving up the most delicious, authentic and moorish paellas served by polite warm and charming staff. We did not get a chance to enjoy the bar which looked quite inviting. The reception staff are very friendly, helpful, accommodating and charming. As I was on a girly weekend I am looking forward to treating my husband to the culinary delights of The L'Albufera!" (99809091)

"Overall very satisfied with standard of accommodation. Having come from Canada, however, it is hard to come to terms with the amount of second hand smoke from smokers in the reception area. This is to be expected in the bar however, though we prefer a smoke free environment and would try not to eat in a pub or restaurant where smoking is still permitted. No doubt this will change with the advent of legislation in mid-2007 to prohibit smoking in public places in England." (99881735)

Room very well decorated and equipped, beautiful fresh looking bedding and comfortable bed.

Standard room very small - difficult for two people to move around without getting in each others' way.
