Clean and tidy. staff were brilliant with us and went that little bit further because they knew it was our 38th aniversary, the flowers are still looking good 10 days after.
Good enough directions but fell at the last hurdle because nowhere could we see a "NIGHTOWL" logo on buildings or grounds

Relatively cheap and cheerful - no frills but basics OK.
Price has gone up since last year since it is still £34.99 including VAT but VAT went down from 17.5% to 15% so should be cheaper. A stealth rise!

Price was very good. I had a late check in and the lady on duty was very friendly and helpful.Easy to find. Room was clean but basic. TV worked ok and there was tea and coffee in the room. Considering location was very quiet
Single room was very small but ok for one night. Shared bathroom, however no one in other room so that was ok. Furniture and bedding a little dated. Corridors etc had feel of a hostel, lacking in pictures or refinements

All facilities on one site. Also friendliness of staff.
Poor check-in procedure. Misleading information relating to FREE CAR PARK, this applies to cars only. I had a small HGV and had to pay an additional £15.50 which had I realised sooner would have influenced me to book elsewhere, I will NOT be using Nightowl Carlisle again. TV / Freeview did not work properly.

Very reasonable and easily accessible. Acommodation was adequate and clean. The bed was comfortable and the tv worked well. It wasn't particularly noisy and even though it was after 10pm we were able to buy an adequate hot meal.The staff were very friendly and the food was very inexpensive and good value for money.
A bit mouldy in the bathroom but the water was very hot. The main bad thing which happened was that someone walked into the room to clean it at 7am which was very enthusiastic and not quite what we wanted or expected as we had had such a late night the night before.

Cheap
We were not expecting palatial surroundings given the tarrif but had booked expecting a clean, adequate room for the night. The room was not clean (top drawer in chest of drawers contained 2 un-opened yogurts with an expiry date in early April - date of our stay was early July!). We had hot water coming from the cold (and hot) water taps. There was a large spider in the bath despite the room having just been "serviced" as we arrived. The toilet cistern was dirty and the place just had a very sad and neglected air about it.Cigarrette burns in the carpet and a vertical blind with several slats missing and some hanging off the runners all added to this depressed air.

Cheap and cheerful! We stayed here one night en route to daughter's wedding in Scotland and again on the way back. The staff were extremely helpful to us regarding my elderly mother and went out of their way to ensure she was comfortable. Staff even lent her their mobile phone in case she needed help during the night. The bar was great to relax in and watch TV after a long drive (as it should be in a truck stop!) The breakfast was fabulous (and cheap)with unlimited tea and coffee!
Not most luxurious I've ever stayed in but then we didn't expect it to be. We got what we paid for.

the staff went out of there way to make us wellcome 2 of them were very very good my mother forgot her insulin and one girl in her own time took us to the hospital, and when we booked one when out of her way to make sure we had a room that was ok for us i would go again to this place

Tidy and perfectly adequate. Pleasant staff and clientele.
TV was misconnected and not working but I was able to fix it. Bathroom extractor fan not working. Breakfast was too "rich"; a selection of cereal and wholemeal toast would have been appreciated.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and being able to take the dog was a bonus. The accommodtion was VERY basic but clean and warm and considering it is a Truck Stop, operating 24 hours a day, it was not noisy at all - i thought it would be with drivers coming and going at all hours but i didn't hear anything! We did not use the restaurant or bar because of the times we arrived and departed so cannot comment on them. The family rooms are 2 interconnecting rooms rather than 1 big one which is also a bonus as you don't keep the children awake watching the TV after it is time for them to sleep.
Bathrooms are a bit mouldy - need a lick of paint or better ventilation but on the whole very clean and more than adequate for our needs.

At first you can be put off by the garish decor and prison-like appearence but when you look past it, they offer exactly what you need for a clean, comfortable, cheap one night stop over. I wouldn't want to stay more than a couple of nights just as a stop gap but for that it's perfect." (107294052)
Has tv, hot shower, towels, comfy bed and tea making facilities in the room. Is also very affordable.
The building is next to a truckers fuel stop, the 'reception' is inside the shop, pay kiosk at the side of the building - it's all very rough around the edges and everso slightly 'League of Gentlemen-esk'! Signage and directions to the hotel are slightly amiss, we drove past it at first.

As a result we wasted half an hour and a lot of petrol looking for the place. The receptionist thought that was funny, we didn't. Didn't feel we got value for money We were given a 'smoking' room when we had specifically asked for 'non-smoking'. We do not sleep well with the smell of stale tobacco." (99250127)

Overall the general image of this place is a typical seedy motel, BUT if all you need is a bed, then i suppose it is adequate, That said, you could actually book a room at the travel in for less money (booked in advance) ?" The whole building looks a little scruffy, the rooms are not particularly bright, the bathroom was only marginally better than a public loo.

The bride and groom ended up staying there too, and the staff went out of their way to make them comfortable, couldn't do enough for them. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Night Owl to anyone, or in visiting again." (107139254)
Clean, tidy rooms, with TV and kettle. Comfortable bar downstairs, 24 hour shop very convenient. And the friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever met. Lovely, lovely people.
My only criticism is that it's not very well signposted. I was looking for a sign that says 'Night Owl' but it's not marked as such.

Ok we have stayed in Formule 1 before Metro got their sloppy hands on them and Etap hotels which are great so we are used to budget hotels but this was poor, dirty and nasty.

Although we asked for a non smoking room we were given a smoking one but there was no lingering smell of smoke, it was clean, so we didnt ask to be moved.

outside was not sign posted and we found no sign stateing it was called the night owl.we drove past looking at the dirty windows hopeing that it was not the place we were actually staying.the room was dated room with 70 style blue tiles in bathroom with dated yellow painted bedroom.blinds were filthy and room in need of a good spring clean.the room was a stinking of stale smoke as it was a designanted smoking room which was never mentioned on booking...if we were aware any hotel allowed smoking anywhere inside its premises we certainly would not of booked as we do not smoke and avoid it at all times
