Friendly staff, with good advice on where to eat plus the quality of breakfast and being able to choose how much toast and serve it warm yourself excellent.
Suggested improvement a bigger double bed.

Very clean, comfortable and friendly atmosphere and one of the largest guest lounges seen in a long while for a hotel of its size - and the snug bar truly is a delight.

Perhaps I just missed this information but it did worry me as I thought may be I might have a bad experience, eg rooms full of dog hairs!I could not have been more wrong. A guest house with real character run by a very friendly and attentive couple. Alston is off the beaten track for most people and as a result is quiet and peaceful even over a bank holiday weekend. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery. Lowbyer Manor Country House is a great base for enjoying the wild beauty of the Northern Pennines
