"The hotel was good in general. The location was good as it was only 15-20 minutes walk from where I was working, off Princes Street. The leisure facilities looked good even though I didn't get the chance to use them. The breakfast was as good as I have seen." (108558437)

The rooms and cost for the rooms (inc. breakfast) was excellent. The staff were very helpful as when I booked I requested confirmation that a very tall van would fit in their Car Park, that information was not forthcoming. They advised me of several Car Parks in the area but none were capable of taking the van so when I returned to the hotel for further info. they offered the use of the Service Yard which was great.

I used the same Bath Towel for 4 nights. I tried putting the towel on the side of the bath, unfolded on its hanger no change. The bottom sheet on my bed was not straightened on a couple of occasions.

"Although I paid up front months ago, it was a good online deal on the B&B rate for a family room. It was not very spacious for four of us but it was adequate. Good quality, very clean and well located hotel. Very helpful staff." (107513194)

    Very good standard overall.

My only criticism is that the hotel didn't have a decent lounge, only the bar or reception area.

Online booking process stated no hotel car parking facilities, so travelled by train/taxi. Surprised to find there is a hotel car park.

"We did enjoy our stay & found the location great, the hotel was well presented & clean. The only let down was the small room & bed set up, It was only for two nights so I put up with it, if I had been staying longer I would have asked to be moved, if I was to return I would double check I was getting what I had ordered." (107335728)

The hotel was very clean & modern, It had a very good location in the city, staff were friendly & professional.

I ordered a deluxe twin room, with twin beds. The room turned out to have one king size bed & a pull out bed settee. The room was very clean modern & well equipped but small, very limited hanging space for clothes. The bathroom again was as the main room but again small & the door was at a funny angle making it interesting to get in & out of. Limited parking too, ok if you were lucky to get in. We had a meal at the hotel on Saturday evening but found you were out of stock on a few bottles of wine we tried to order & found it was mainly dry white wines that was in stock, fine if you like dry wine !!!! The food was good & a fair price.

good service, nice room and good facilities.

room far too hot during the night, hairdryer not working properly, breakfast very expensive.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, bright feel to the hotel. Good site near to Castle, Grass Market etc

Breakfast service in the restaurant was poor on Day 1 (9 Aug). You were not prepared for the mount of guests and food ran out quickly. Also, when we tried room service breakfast the next day, there were items missing and the toast had not been toasted. You were very apologetic etc and staff were helpful, but it shouldn't happen in a 4* hotel at

Superior double room was very comfortable and the fact that bathroom had enough space to put toiletry bag beside sink & was seperate from toilet.

No toilet brush beside toilet, never seen that before and is totaly unpleasant for the next person who 'll use the toilet and un hygienic.Double glazing poor, lots of noise coming fron the street

"Nice hotel in good location - just enough away from the main streets to be peaceful and yet within easy walking distance of town centre. Full price rates are extortionate but we got a good deal on the internet." (97582034)

Modern, light and airy rooms with excellent en suite facilities

Toiletries & tea/coffee etc. not replenished on second day - unusual in a 4 star hotel.

The location of the hotel is great, nice and central The reception staff however need leave a lot to be desired, they are rude, obnoxious and extremely unhelpful, however the bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were all excellent and very friendly." This hotel is ideally situated close to the centre and ten mins walk to Princes street passing the castle.Staff very good. Pool etc good. We went for a family wedding(not held in this hotel)and arrived early off the overnight train from London. Checkin was made poosible at 7.30am by conpetent staff as our room was not used the night before.Kids went in the pool.Breakfast was very good quality-well worth the price(pay in advance for a discount).Altogether a good experience. We would use this hotel next time.

Carpet in bedroom was stained -otherwise all ok.

"The hotel is clean and well presented. My room on the 6th floor was clean, quiet and perfectly adequate. A couple of minor gripes were that there was no bath - the shower was ok, but the design meant that after 10 mins in the shower, plenty of water drained onto the bathroom floor - which sloped away from the shower instead of into it. A shame as I used towels to dry up that otherwise would have stayed clean - less environmentally friendly! Also, was looking forward to a workout, the gym had 5 cardio machines and two very light dumbells - not too great. But minor points only..." (97789940)

Hotel was clean and centrally located.

    Gym was incredibly tiny!

"This is a very good value in Edinburgh. The stay would have been perfect except for two rather inexplicable staff flaws. The hostess at breakfast seated me and then the next minute gave my table to another couple! So leave your table to go to the buffet with caution. Strangely, a reception clerk had no idea what real ale or cask ale was, so of course she was no help in finding a local pub that served it. All in all a very good hotel and a pleasant stay." (99338467)

Modern bath where controls were intuitive and everything functioned correctly.

"Overall pleasant stay in a well run hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Good value and reasonably well located." (99599400)

Hotel was clean and rooms were clean and fresh. staff very friendly and helpful. Location of hotel was near the old town of Edinburgh but quite a walk with many steps from the main shopping area.

The pillows were very soft and the bedlinen/duvet was poor quality. The carpet was synthetic and unpleasant to walk on in bare feet.

"Facilities in room good though a bit awkward round entry to room in that toilet situated as soon as you got in and squashed wardrobe, kettle facilities all squashed in one area of room. Leisure facilities good but could have done with another treadmill in gym area. Food generally good Booking in arrangements could have been a bit better in terms of explaining pay separately breakfasts and yet dinner charged to room - mix & match makes it a bit confusing."
