Auchterawe Country House, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"disappointed because of isolated location. postcode is a mile from the location so satnav didnt get us there. would describe it more a B&B than hotel. Very basic but clean" (108815227)

Location in quiet rural area yet close to local attractions
although room and facilities were good i felt the finish of the room fittings in the converted roof space were of a poor DIY standard.

Very quiet location. We were late arriving after a long day walking and they arranged to leave keys and instructions for us.
Slightly hard to reach with long narrow road. Some more indications that you are on the right road may reassure.

Good price, good breakfast and friendly service. Very homely.
This is not a hotel but a country house and it is 2 miles out of fort augustus, therefore it has no bar for drinks or bar meals.

It was nestled away in the mountains with great views. The welcome was warm and sincere. Loved the log fire and breakfast was fab!

Auchterawe Country House, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"The house is situated in a very peaceful location with lovely countryside views. We were undisturbed throughout our stay but the owner was on hand when needed. There is a converted barn at the back with two pool tables for guests and sofas and log fire. There is also a sitting room for guests with log fire and tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast was lovely and overall we had an excellent stay." (3304600853)

Auchterawe Country House, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"This hotel is near Loch Ness with wonderful views of the mountains. It is near Fort Augustus for meals and is very peaceful. However, I do not think it lived up to our expectations and is overpriced for what it provides. It has cut too many corners. eg - no locks on bedroom doors, no bathmats, not enough towels, no shelf in bathroom or shower, no hooks behind doors, no hot water one morning. Notices everywhere telling you to switch off lights. All these things make for an uncomfortable time. It also does not tell you on the website that you have to pay for the pool table." (3305505323)
This hotel is set in beautiful countryside with outstanding views.
None of the bedrooms have locks on the doors meaning you can't relax properly - anyone could walk into your room and also go off with your property. Crazy.

The room felt restricted in size due to the sloping roof, but was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was located between two rooms on the floor and had to be shared. We paid " (3305063818)
The location is very peaceful, and the accomodation clean. We were made to feel welcolme by the owner. A good breakfast.
The room was built into the roof and had a sloping ceiling, which restricted the size. Bathroom facilities were shared with a room on the same floor. There was no bath/shower mat and very little soap. It was expensive for the facilities provided.

Auchterawe Country House, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"It was a bit disappointing as all the other reviews had led me to think it was a bit special, especially as it was quite expensive. We have stayed in B&B's that have been more luxurious for less money. Also, you are expected to pay extra to use the pool table and table tennis. Overall, nothing really bad, just not as good as we hoped." (3304828078)
Pretty location, interesting house, friendly and helpful owners, good breakfast.
Bedroom door not lockable, only 1 tiny bar of soap in bathroom to use for shower and basin, no other toileteries, small towels. Large stain in the middle of the bedroom carpet and the room seemed a bit cold and unwelcoming. No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

An absolutely stunning location, well furnished and appointed rooms, great welcome and send off, excellent food. A plus point was the green aspect, spring water, fires, just sublime!
