There were really no bad points.

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel was old with beautiful lawns, stairs and corridors creaked which was quite charming in many ways. Restaurant very good. Bed room already described. No view at all of the beautiful grounds. I'm saying yes to recommending but bedroom would have to be upgraded!" (97513070)
Hotel had beautiful grounds
Our Standard Double was tiny and very dark and depressing Looking out on concrete walled tiny pump yard. We avoided being in there as much as possible.

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye - Reviews & Ratings"It is a shame that our stay was mared by such a poor performance on the second morning it spoilt our stay having to ask along with others for nearly everything" (97959669)
The check in, first night and the next mornings breakfast were excellent
The second morning the breakfast was very poor the tables were still soiled from the previous guest and was relaid for us without a thought towards cleaning up every 2 minutes geust were having to ask for replacement food, drink, plates and glasses. The room manager only came out when it was in total chaos and didnt really improve matters but was very quick to shut up shop at 10 am even though it was obvious that his geusts were not happy. This was enforced by the receptionists chatting to each other during our check out with no question of asking us about our stay, I have submitted a complaint but as yet have received no reply

Nice building overall.
Room size was totally inadequate, tiny. Lack of storage space. The bed was only 6 foot long. My 6 foot 3 partner slept with his feet sticking off the end of the bed, or should i say, didn't sleep.

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye - Reviews & Ratings"We had an enjoyable two days, a lift would have been helpful as my husband is slightly disabled nevertheless he was able to climb the stairs to the first floor. I appreciate that it is an old building. We requested a room near the facilities and they were very good in supplying this. Would definately visit again." (99108247)

Quiet location - ample praking - short walk into Ross - easy to find from M50 - relaxing atmosphere.
The food in the restaurant although very well prepared was not the best value for money. A main course without vegetables was a little dissapointing.

We found everything to be of a very high standard during our overnight stay. The staff were excellent, always friendly and happy to assist you, the food was superb with a wide selection of choice, the service was incredible and the cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. Overall I would say that this hotel should be at least 4star rated and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I would certainly recommend to friends and family - if your looking for a relaxing break away, this would definitely be the place to stay!

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye - Reviews & Ratings"For a low cost night stay it seemed a nice location and also a beautiful building in which to stay. I had stayed at the hotel many years ago and have very fond memories of the area itself. The booking was simple on the web site and the reception staff were very pleasant when we arrived at the hotel itself. I was rather disappointed with the service at breakfast." (99419155)
The view from the hotel room was beautiful as was the decor and furniture.
I was aware of the cobwebs on the ceiling and was a little concerned about the cleanliness of the bed cover, although the bed sheets themselves were clean.

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye - Reviews & Ratings"A very enjoyable stay. Nice reception with invariably very pleasant and helpful staff. Public rooms of a very high standard in every way. Restaurant with a good atmosphere and excellent, helpful and accommodating staff serving food of a high standard both at dinner and breakfast. Wine list extensive with a fair selection of interesting wines at (for this sort of establishment) moderate prices. Car parking on site is ample and the grounds are very extensive and very well kept - all only a couple of hundred yards from the town centre. There was an event on at the hotel on the Saturday. On receiving our reservation, reception rang to tell us of this and asked if we wished to proceed as there would be a late finish. We agreed to continue and were upgraded and moved to the quieter bit of the hotel. This is good service." (99094189)
Spacious, quiet, pleasant outlook. Good quality furnishings and pleasant decoration. New bathroom of high standard.
Nothing of any consequence but those even more elderly than us might have found lack of a lift and the steps into the room and to the bathroom a bit tricky though there was a hand rail in the latter.

The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye - Reviews & Ratings"This is a high quality hotel with excellent public areas and the staff could not have been better in a top class hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the standard of the bathroom was excellent -having both bath and shower although showers should have detachable heads." (3305167115)
The quality of the room was excellent considering star rating.
You could hear the man in the room upstairs going to the toilet

"A very pleasant place to stay. Beautiful setting and generally good service. " (108197482)
Location, grounds, access to Ross on Wye, views from room. Standard of food in restaurant.
The water was cut off [local services] and was brown on re-connection. Not a fault of the hotel. A fire alarm bell at 10.30pm - which was due to an electrical fault. No-one's fault, but a general lack of concern shown by staff -whom one supposes, have to put a brave face on these sorts of incidents.
