Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent." (107181337)
Central position of hotel in Glasgow. Excellent/friendly service from staff, nothing was too much bother. Free mini-bar. Vouchers for a drink in bar next door. Decor/furniture of room/bathroom. Cleanliness.
The hotel/room was slightly too warm. More efficient air conditioning in room would help.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"We stayed the night of one of the biggest nights in Scottish football, however we were in Glasgow for a quite different reason. Getting a taxi proved to be something of a challenge, something the hotel appeared to be powerless to resolve. Probably in the course of 'normality' this issue may not exist. However, the overall experience at this hotel, for us, was excellent. We did not eat at the hotel, so cannot comment on this aspect - although our bill did include a charge for breakfast, which we had to request to be removed." (97810892)
Perfectly clean and tidy, well decorated. Staff were polite and helpful.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"The range of papers was excelent, the FREE Mini Bar, the Exectuitive Lounge, the Excellent Resturant, Room service. All of this was so Good. It would have made it much easier to have selected this Hotel had I known before. Altogether a wonderful stay." (99095347)
The room was great, large enough and very clean, being at the back it was also quiet.
I would have liked a room at the front, but my room was so good I didn't even enquire.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"We stayed at your hotel last year and liked its location as we travelled from Edinbburgh by train. The location is first class the staff were very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. We would consider staying in the hotel again if we are in Glasgow. We were a bit late for breakfast but from what I remember from last year there was a good choice." (99207685)
Accommodation was clean and comfortable
We were given a disabled room and the bathroom door kept hitting of the wardrobe door.

Nice clean room, good size, not cramped. Free internet access and free mini-bar. Excellent location.
Room was internal view into other rooms, on sixth floor just below a large air handling unit which was noisy. Fridge wasn't working so drinks were warm. Mini bar wasn't too well stocked - and wouldn't be re-stocked on request. Breakfast was pricey at 14GBP. Free newspaper offered didn't appear.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"The only downside to my stay was that the hotel Executive Lounge closed at 2300 hours. I would have preferred to sit in this lounge until midnight instead of having to either go back to my room or go into Waxy O'Conners next door (via an internal door)." (99201325)
The room was spotless, very warm to suit the outside weather & the facilities included were of an excellent standard.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"The complimentary mini bar was nice, but I would like to have been asked our prefered choice of drink before hand as we didn't make much use of it because of what was stocked. The hotel kindly placed a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice for our 30th wedding anniversary, which was a nice touch. Overall everybody was pleasant and our stay was enjoyable." (3305322017)
Comfortable large bed and beautiful bathroom
Probably the fact there was no view from the window, but thats just a minor qualm.

Clean,comfortable and quiet
Breakfast! Ready cooked in Bain Marie looked disasterous. Grey sausage, brown, dried out scrambled egg and bacon which looked boiled. My table which could seat two was set for one. The setting meant I faced the wall. However I changed my position and ordered finnon haddock and poached eggs from the menu. This arrived quickly, was piping hot and delicious. Happy ending!

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"I found the reception staff very friendly & they did their best to be helpful, however I found it frustrating that we were sent to a restaurant that was closed on Sunday night, I think it would benifit your hotel if all of the reception staff new of a few really good restaurants which they could reccomend when asked & their opening times. I also found it frustrating that having arranged with receptionist to book three treatments for me in Sacks (a nearby beauticians) which she confirmed with me only to discover upon arrival at Sacks that they had contacted receptionist requesting her to inform me that they only be able to give me one treatment apparently the receptionist informed Sacks that she didn't have a contact number for me which was untrue as I gave my mobile phone number when I made the booking." I liked the decor & space we had in the room. I also liked the fact that anything I needed was to hand.
The lighting -there were no bright light at the desk.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent city centre hotel. Ideal location for tourists and shoppers, but we encountered none of the potential noise or hazards, which can be associated with such a prime location. In fact the room was so quiet and comfortable that neither of us awoke until half-past eleven and were in danger of missing the checking-out time of noon. We were welcomed very well by reception and given more vouchers than we needed for the very pleasant adjoining bar. The room was modern spacious and very clean with a complimentary mini bar, newspaper and even complementary slippers. On the whole a very good stay." (3305140809)
Complementary bar was very much appreciated, the room was very quiet, staff very helpful and the location was excellent for Glasgow city centre
The recommended car park was a long 10 minute walk with heavy suitcases

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"Staff were very helpful from the outset. The room was lovely - recently refurbished to a high standard with some nice touches such as the extending mirror in the bathroom. Minibar good idea = esp the gin in the decanter and tonic in the fridge! Double glazing effective - kept out any noise from the street below. Really good location - near main shopping etc, round the corner from the subway, near to Queen St Station and not far from Central Station. Restaurant had reasonable/good food with views over rooftops." (3305138273)
It was clean, bright sunny. The standard of decor, refreshments, fixtures and fittings was high- everything worked well, was in good condition and had been though through. Complementary mini-bar! Good central location.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"We were so happy with the Carlton George! It was convenient and quiet. The staff was so very friendly and professional, from cleaning crew to front desk. We loved the amenities and the free drink coupons nedt door at Waxy O'Connor's. It was like a holiday within a holiday. The hotel was good about their booking process and everything went smoothly. I think it was informative and helpful. I was fully informed online." (3305080197)
Terrific room, nicely appointed. Loved the tartan tiles in the bathroom with a wonderful tub. We thoroughly enjoyed the free use of the refrigerator and it's contents and the scotch. What a nice touch. Quiet and the bed was so wonderful.
Had to ask for towels, there was only one. Little things that were left undone. Needs a bit of a spiffing up, particulary the bedspread and the comforter. Plus, the towel warmer was on the entire time and made the bathroom very hot indeed. And it's summer. Other than that it was fine.

Carlton George Hotel, Glasgow - Reviews & Ratings"Very fine Hotel. Return guest. The food is ecellent as is the views from the restaurant. Staff are extrememly well mannered and efficient. I was brought up in Glasgow and travel there often from the US, but by far this is the finest Hotel we have stayed in and we have been in 5 star hotels from Hawaii to Texas. Please don't change a thing." (3305001414)
The intimacy of the Hotel and the fact that any tourist walking into the Hotel for the fist time, really knows where they are - Scotland. The friendliness of the reception and wait staff is excellent, very helpful and accomodating. This little jewel tucked away on West Nile St is the best kept secret in Glasgow. I will continue my stays in this Hotel rather than any of the competition, and there certainly is lots of that, but this is the one for myself and family in future.
No dislikes.

Excellent location, easy access to rail, generous access to bar, great value in the tariff charged
One complaint only and that related to breakfast. Format and food choices ordinary ,little imagination shown, and the price of £14 per head was over the top.
