"Enjoyed the Hotel and the town and would reccomend it." (108268209)

Restaurant very expensive and Bistro very limited, would have liked a quick/snack option, not a full multi course meal.

Good Hotel - in same family for over 30 Years. Good food.

Parking difficult on Monday night/Tuesday morning because of market.

"I would recommend this hotel to couples, individuals, and families. I would stay here again, too." (107651148)

The rooms were very spacious (especially for Europe) and clean. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant had really good French cuisine and friendly service. Our party got two rooms: one family room with a loft and a regular room, which we all liked. The hotel is across the street from the Notre Dame cathedral in town, which is especially good for travelers who want to go to mass on Saturday evening or Sunday. The hotel is also only about an hour away from Le Mont Saint Michel. There was always at least one person who spoke English at the front desk.

One annoying thing about this hotel is that the lights automatically turn off in the hallways and sometimes while you are walking through. You just hit one of the several switches to turn the lights back on.

"This is our second stay and we loved it especially since we had a special rate!" (107865194)

A very friendly comfortable hotel, some english spoken, with a value for money informal bistro for buffet continental breakfast and if you do not want the formality and additional cost of the dining room every night. Right in the centre of picturesque Villedieu les Poeles with all its attractions for tourists. Highly recommended for a relaxing break and very central for Le Mont Saint Michel, the coast at Granville and sightseeing in basse Normandie.

The bathroom was a little shabby compared to the room above that I stayed in during October.

Room comfortable, although decor a bit dated. Room looked onto street so a bit noisy early in morning. Great value for money and good French breakfast. Great to have free internet access. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely use again.

"A pleasant overnight stay, helpful staff, excellent restaurant, for gourmet dinner, good buffet breakfast (not included in price). Elevator to all floors. If being picky the garage (extra) wasn't up to much & was NOT secure. Average prices for this quality of hotel" (97071003)

Effecient friendly staff, nice hotel & room. Good check in/out windows.

    Parking not secure.

Excellent location. Lovely town. Hotel 'public' areas of good quality but typically French 'basic' bedrooms. Staff very helpful & speak good English

"The staff could not have been more helpful or polite. There were extra pillows as soon as we asked for them. The restaurant was attractive, and the food was good and fairly priced. Perhaps the biggest surprise was Villedieu La Poele itself. We had planned an overnight stay there purely for convenience on the way to Mont St Michel. In fact, the town is charming, typically French, with an interesting history and a very busy market on Tuesday morning that flowed from the market place in front of the hotel into all the side streets. Our overnight stay brought more interest and pleasure than we had expected." (99457499)

    Bright, pleasant, comfortable.

The bath lacked both a hand grip on the wall and a rubber anti-slip mat in the tub itself. It was risky for an older person to climb in and out of the tub to take a shower.

A bit noisy in the room. Radiators, elevator, traffic.

"The hotel offers excellent value for money, the restaurant provided a wide choice of reasonable priced a la carte and set menus also included a children's menu. The food was of a high quality and the desserts were to die for, all made in-house. The rooms were of a good standard, spotlessly clean and so quiet (soundproofed). We only stayed one night on our way to through to Caen but would definitely recommend to friends and will return next year." (3304444083)

The hotel was very clean, comfortable and large enough for 4.

Only 2 towels provided for a family of 4

"Staff polite and helpful. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant but it was full every night, so I guess it must be quite good! The room was very nice - on two levels, with bedroom upstairs, bathroom and small seating area downstairs. The hotel is very central and Villedieu is a nice little town, centrally located for travelling to other sights and areas on the coast, and further south in Brittany. A special mention to the pizza restaurant Le Griphon, on the way out of the town, where we had am enjoyable evening in simple, rustical surroundings: no tourists, just a few locals, with enormous, hearty 'Norman pizzas' and a bottle of good red wine. Overall a lovely stay." (3305124809)

    Centrally located, clean and comfortable

"a good hotel for visiting this lovely town. the whole experience finished off our holiday perfectly. parking is good, close and was free or you could pay 6 euros and have car locked over night (which is useful if you have luggage you dont want to take out). great market right outside hotel on tuesday morning, however double glazing is so good that it doesnt wake you before you want it to. breakfast wasnt included in the price, but it would have been nice if it had been." (3305148675)

nice rooms, nice hotel, nice and helpful staff, lovely town,

only complaint was that the hotel is quite dark, especially in the corridors and tea and coffee services were not avilable to all rooms, in fact there was no coffee in our room at all, only tea.

"I think your description was fine and gave us all the information we needed. I also e-mailed to cancel one of my bookings and this was dealt with efficiently and when we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist confirmed that this second night had been cancelled. It is a lovely hotel, in a lovely little town and we would have no hesitation in staying again, in fact we would possibly make a point of doing so. I have already recommended Villedieu itself to a friend who is looking for somewhere to visit for a day." (3304964837)

The seating in the bar was comfortable and the piano was a lovely touch. There was secure parking for our motorbikes. The service was very friendly.

The only one criticism was that there was a little odour in the toilet - it would seem that perhaps the carpet needed replacing as the actual toilet was very clean.

"The hotel is in the centre of the town, and in very easy walking distance for most of the shops, cafes et al. This was good news for me as I have a walking disability! Take time to look through the small back streets and alleyways - there is a delightful collection of nooks and crannies to be found with a small amount of effort, and a boon to the keen photographer. The staff of the hotel are all very helpful, and most speak some English. However, they appreciate it if you do your best to speak French - you learn and they will laugh with you. Experience the dining room for lunch or dinner! The Chef will tease you taste buds and have you coming back for more. The wine selection isn't too bad either! Finally, right outside the front of the Hotel you have the town's Tourist Information booth, and one of the staff is English - so no problems there!" (3304807871)

The rooms were kept clean and tidy. The food was excellent.

The room was not Air Conditioned, and with very hot weather one had to keep open the windows: if, like us, you were next to the road, then the traffic noise from very early morning (0530 hours)was disturbing. (Add to that the fact that France had just won the Semi Final of the World Cup, and the local lads were driving around most of the night hooting their horns, then that is bad news!)

"The hotel was bright and prettily decorated in a very central location near the motorway which makes it a good stopover hotel for anyone travelling. We arrived there after having had a very rough ferry crossing and it was a great relief to find the hotel easily and have a comfortable and pleasant place to sleep. The only suggestion I would make is that some tea/coffee making facilities would be useful. We arrived late due to the ferry being delayed and everything was shut." (3304685138)

It was one of the only hotels to offer a room to accommodate 4 people, which we needed with 2 young children.

Only a couple of minutes drive onto the Auto route (Rennes-Caen).Hotel garage is a little cramped but there is plenty of parking in the large municipal carpark opposite the hotel and it is free.
