Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"It was just about worth the money because of the location but the rest of our experience was pretty poor." (97312624)
Location is excellent; relatively close to the centre and in a lovely forest setting. Room had a nice balcony and cooking facilities.
Staff were miserable and unhelpful, room smelled slightly of fish, beds were a bit small. Cleaners didn't do much.

Its position and value
Unannounced the restaurant (important to us) was closed for the night for a small party and no taxi available to get to town.

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"If we had known that reception was staffed by non-English speaking people we would have made the effort to try and speak French. We would have liked to know that the restaurant was going to be closed when we got to the hote. We would also have liked to know that we couldn't have a hot drink. It is obviously more a hotel to stay at for a longer period than a night." (97490066)
The bed was comfortable.
The receptionist didn't speak much English which was off-putting in a supposedly tourist area. It was cold in the rooms. There was no kettle, so we couldn't make a drink to warm us up. The bath was incredibly small.

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"This hotel is excellent value for anyone visiting Le Touquet. There is a 15-20 minute walk into the centre, but the walk down the Le Touqeut streets is worth the effort! The rooms are functional, quiet and comfortable and this is all I really need. Whenever I go back to LT I will book at this hotel." (97665144)
Functional, clean, comfortable, quiet, excellent value.
The shower and toilet rooms are quite small so not much room for manouevre, but this is a very minor point and wouldn't distract me from going again.

Well priced and in a nice area and the room had a deck, fridge and cooker
I didn't realise that there were bunk beds in the room. I assumed that it would be 2 double beds.

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is not centrally located but this means it is more peaceful than the hotels in the town and in a pretty woodland location. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk to the centre, passing some very nice shops and restaurants along the way. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequately furnished and very clean. One small thing to note is that the only mirrors are located in the bathroom so putting make up on became a little difficult if someone was using the shower. Also, the nearest socket for a hairdryer is in the alcove where the bunk beds are so a hand held mirror might be a good thing to take." (97730860)
Pretty location / cleanliness / friendliness.

Amenities and room were basic, but well maintained, clean, with friendly staff. A handy base for a budget stay and a pleasant 20 minute walk to Le Touquet centre.
Looks as if it's popular with school parties. There was one there when we stayed, so worth asking for a quiet room. We did and we were in the wing away from the kids, where it was remarkably quiet.

Room and balcony were very pleasant and sunny. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Hotel was clean. Buffet breakfast was enjoyable; coffee with hot milk was superb. Room facilities make it a good place for families to stay.
Sink plug was not functioning; corridors could be noisy especially Saturday night; restaurant meals lacked fresh vegetables. Staff were not au-fait about local environs e.g., distance/walking time to Etaples/town centre/bus timetables.

Lovely location, clean, good value. Nice studio layout. Our little boy liked the bunk beds.
No bad points - we have visted on 3 previous occasions and will definately visit again. Some people might be disturbed by the light aircraft noise as the small local airport is nearby - but we dont think it is a problem.

Access and availability of parking
The hotel is geared to dealing with younger groups (school children). The shower in our room did not work + there was a strong smell of fish (obviously what previous occupants had cooked).

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"The overall accomodation was very well presented. The room was very clean, spacious and well equipped and suitable for young children. The games area downstairs although quite small was a godsend when the children (boys aged 7 and 3) got restless.Breakfast was continental style and catered for all our needs including a fussy 7yr old. Overall a very pleasant stay and one which we are already thinking of repeating in the summer." (97912169)
The room was very clean and spacious which was very handy with young children.it was well equipped for a studio appartment and for the price.

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"The Hippotel is an excellent base for a quick weekend or night in France. The rooms are basic but are clean, heated and have a small kitchenette and separate bathroom and loo. They sleep up to 4 with bunkbeds in the hallway allowing families not to have to book 2 rooms. Breakfasts are self service and plentiful with always an unhurried pace. The hotel is signposted from the entrnce of Le Touquet and is in a quiet area of the town, we have even stayed when school parties have been booked and have still found it to be a quiet, basic, good nights sleep" (97899653)

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was excellent value for money. It is in a lovely location surrounded by forest and our room looked out over the neighbouring riding stables. We walked into Le Touquet on the evening which had numerous restaurants to choose from (walk may be too far for some people, it took us 20/30 mins). There are only two electric rings in the kitchen, no oven or microwave, but the fridge is full size which was very useful. The room was very clean and although basic it was more than adequate for our needs. It was nice to have a seperate sleeping area for the children." (97877396)
Location was very pretty and the hotel was adequate for our needs.
The shower didn't stay on the wall when it was switched on with more than just a trickle. It would have been nice to have had an oven or microwave.

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was exactly as the website had described it, and the various reviews that I read. The hotel is functional, and does cater for large school groups, so can be noisy in the mornings. There was a discrepancy between check out time stated on the website (1100) and the printed card in the room (1000). However we checked out at 1030 with no problems. The hotel is in a good location and away from the town. We had no problems with the walk into town. For the price paid for a quadruple room (3 adults and 1 child), and the nature of the hotel, I would say that it is good value." (99496181)

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"We stayed here 7 years ago and had good memories. But like all good things it is never the same going back.In seven years we would like to think our expectations would be heightened but we were very disappointed with the basic accommodation which seemed to go back to Hi De Hi days with the request of can we have some cutlery and a remote for the TV. The location of this place is amazing and if this hotel were managed differently then our aspirations would have been gratified, This Hotel could easily be upgraded to a 3* with foresight and vision and not relying on past impressions." (3305012720)
Beautiful surroundings and location
Poor quality furnishings, floor covering and furniture and lack of furniture, small bathroom, no lift, no help with luggage,Timed light switches in dark corridors. cheap basic accommodation that wasnt that cheap.Would have left if we had not already paid.

Hotel Résidence Hippotel, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage - Reviews & Ratings"We chose this hotel because it seemed to offer good value for money, was within walking distance of Le Touquet Centre Ville and had plenty of parking - which seemed a problem for most of the main town hotels. The mix of hotel and self catering facilities probably makes Hippotel ideal for families but I would not recommend it for couples. We were somewhat dismayed upon arriving to find that the hotel had accepted a booking from two English Schools and there were around 80 to 100 school children there. Whilst very well behaved and under teacher control, 80+ schoolchildren talking at once can make an awful lot of noise. In fairness, the staff had given us a room as far away as possible from the childrens rooms but had I known at the time of booking that schoolchildren would be there on that scale, I probably would not have booked the hotel. Reading other reviews about the Hippotel, it seems that School parties are not unusual and I think the Hotel needs to decide whether it is catering en-mass for parties; if so, I think they should make this clear to clients before accepting bookings. We operate our own B & B here and do not accept reservations from families with Children under 5 as the majority of our guests are mature and look forward to peace and quiet when they stay with us." Kitchenette and, particularly, fridge was very useful.
