Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"ok for 2 nights but for longer stay would need a bigger room." (107168177)
Superb sea front location and convenient for all local attractions. Ground floor reception, dining lounges and bar areas well appointed.
Small single room and en suite facilities. Some items in room not working properly.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"In general the hotel is in an excellent location, but is let down by inadequate maintenance and poorly trained, although enthusiastic, staff. It would have been useful to have known about the parking arrangements prior to arrival." (3304917299)
The location is excellent and we were lucky with a parking space right outside for which the receptionist was able to explain the conditions.
The curtains were difficult to close because the fitting was broken. There was no replacement toilet roll when the original ran out. There was a box of stale cakes left in one of the drawers. The service at breakfast was poor.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"I arrived late and was tired but my booking form was already waiting for me to sign and I was in my room within a couple of minutes with no fuss. I was staying two nights and had breakfast in the main dining room at 8am the next morning. The dining was busy but my English breakfast was served within 5 minutes of ordering and it was piping hot - compare this with the usual buffet breakfasts you get at supposedly 4* hotels! The room was neat and tidy and while some of the fittings in the bathroom were old, this didn't spoil the overall impression. I would have no difficulty recommending this hotel." (3304837309)
Perfect location for my trip, good breakfast and good service all round.
No particular dislikes

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"We had a pleasant stay. The hotel room was spacious with a good view (we were upgraded to a sea view, which was very welcome)." (3305133857)
Hotel was Edwardian and certain features had been kept (lift for example). Makes a welcome change from modern facilities.
Nothing to dislike.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"I would like to have known that the bathroom would be better and the room a little bigger. But the view was nice the staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice. Location is the best in Eastbourne on the front between the pier and the grandstand." (3305116765)
The breakfast and the sea view were great - Cool elevator too.
The showere was terrible and pretty unusable

We were a party of three adults. The double room was upgraded and we had a fantastic view out over the sea. The single room was very small and the bathroom facilities were awful The toilet had a turquoise plastic loo seat that must be at least twenty years old.... Not pleasant.... Vegetarian breakfasts haven't reached this particular esptablishment and the anaemic scrambled egg is to be avoided. I am told that the fried eggs, bacon and sausages were fantastic.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"I appreciate that this was an old building and in some areas it is difficult to keep up to standard. However, general mantainance of the rooms should be paramount. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The dining room and bar were comfortable. The breakfast staff were polite and helpful as was the receptionist who dealt with our final bill. This is the first hotel in Eastbourne that we have stayed in so I have nothing to compare the rates and general appearance with. I will be visiting again in June." (3304495944)
Twin room was large and had a good view
Single room was small and dark and the curtain was hanging off the rail.Twin room had holes in the skirting board, a hole in the side of the bath and a hole in the door to the room as though someone had tried to kick it in.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"I do not believe the accomodation my wife and I were allocated gave good value for money. We had just returned from a stay in a major hotel in Dubai where we enjoyed a high standard of accommodation at a less expensive rate." (2279662)
The room I was allocated was very small and completely inadequate. Apart from wardrobe hanging space no drawers were available for underwear etc. The shower door would not shut properly and tiles were missing from the wall. The shower head pressure head was low and there appeared not to be enough hot water. The bed appeared not to be level being higher at the foot than the head. The TV had very poor reception.
Ensuring general repairs are carried out and guest facilities checked for quality.

Sea view
The standard of decor in this hotel is very dated and the room furniture needs replacing. Also as a business tarveller there are no business facilities.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"Parking in Eastbourne is very difficult when an event such as 'airborne' is under way." (2237163)
close to sea front. Friendly staff and very helpful. Excellent food and good choice.
the room was in need of re-decorating, espeically the bathroom. The shower pressure was barely adequate and, due to the slope of the bathroom ceiling, it was not possible to stand up straight in the shower.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"The room size was a lot smaller than expected. The room was very very hot during the hot weekend weather." (2172357)
Close to beach and all amenities, sea view. Nice bar area.
Restaurant. Small portions especially the smoked haddock. No bread or rolls served with the soup. It would be better to have the sink in the bathroom and not the bedroom area.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"Pleasant stay again, food was excellent and the friendly and efficient staff made the break a real pleasure. The hotel has an ideal sea front location, with level walks to the town and other attractions. The modest size of the hotel makes for a high standard of personal service, and a very pleasant stay." (1801411)
Familiar with the hotel, this was the 4th year staying there during the Tennis week.
I could see that improvements have been made and are ongoing.

Location v. good - seafront, with sea views. Easy and free parking (on road). Excellent customer care, even down to details such as a provided DVD player with the facility to borrow films for free.
Some of the decor was looking a little tired.

It was quite nice to have a sea view.
I thought the decor of the room was quite poor for £58 per night, I thought the electrical socket was not correctly attached to the wall and could be dangerous.

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"Avery relaxing stay, staff very helpful and freindly. Nice being on seafront. I would not like to try and park in the summer season though!" (2053077)
I liked the idea of being close to the sea front. I also found the staff to be very freindly.
Choice of TV channels too limited, on tv menu it states channels that are not there. But this is not an important factor. No parking!

The shower unit did not work (leakage of water from the in let pipe and the water was cold. This was reported to reception. Overall the stay suited our needs and was good value. Breakfast was taken in our room and was well presented." (1998990)

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"I was initially impressed by the hotel, by the level of service at the desk when we checked in. the girl, who later revealed to us that she had done 15 double day shifts straight, was fantastic. very polite and eager to help. later in the evening, after being out for a meal, we came back to the hotel for a drink in the bar. the bar was empty, and i had to see the same girl who checked us in to serve us a drink. This waiter, then took over from her so she could return to the desk. His attitude was all wrong. instead of making my wife and i feel welcome, we finished our drinks early an retired to our room. For breakfast we both had a cooked breakfast. To be blunt, it was rubbish. The mushrooms were out of a can and cut in half. We both felt sorry for the waitress, who looked so unhappy, no smiles or chit chat. Clearly working there was as painful as eating the breakfast. The same waiter was back on duty in the morning, looking at his watch everytime someone came in to sit down. Instead of asking if everything was okay, he spent the whole time hovering about moving tables and wasting time. I would liked to have known before booking that the hotel was in need of reburbishment. I would like to have know if breakfast was included in the price, which we found out later it was. Generally speaking, the staff, allbeit Ronaldo, were fantastic. They looked tired though. Maybe with better management, the hotel could run better, and then maybe things like plates being left to sit in the lobby all day and night, poor quality rooms, might not be so frowned apon as they were by us on this occassion." (1925977)
the exterior looked very grand. the interior looked tired and in need of refurbishment.
room rundown.waiter, quite rude, even arrogant, in his approach towards customers

Chatsworth Hotel, Eastbourne - Reviews & Ratings"I did very much like the traditional feel of the hotel. The reception bar and dining room were quite pleasant. However, as stated above the rooms we saw when compared with a Premier Lodge or Holiday Express was not of that standard and generally poor. First impressions are equally important and to find dirty room service dish and laundry bags on the upper floor corridors late in the afternoon did not impress." (1806602)
An interesting old Hotel obviously dating back to the victorian period
The first double room offered was small, poor and in need of refurbishment. The alternative room given t ome was much better and more acceptable, although still requiring a little upgrading.
