Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"A lovely relaxed visit. All I needed was there, the staff were friendly and helpful and the weather was good!" (108670766)
Same price per head for single/double/twin rooms. My request for a seafront room if possible was answered positively with a suite!
Bed making a bit slapdash. As in every hotel I have ever stayed in, the notice about re-using towels seems a waste of time.

Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"Too expensive, would have been great with a bigger bed and a toilet that wasn't leaking." (108613724)
Breakfast was absolutely wonderful! Very nice staff too. The bed was small, but comfy. The bathtub & bathroom were reasonably big, the toiletries a nice touch. We had a lovely seaview.
The toilet could not be flushed twice in a row, we had quite a leak and had to use 3/4 of our towels to get the floor dry again. We did not bother to phone reception as it was 8 o'clock on a Saturday evening, and we didn't think they would have a plumber on standby. Curtains were a bit tacky, and not hung properly. Not many channels on the TV. When you pay £120 for 1 night, you expect everything to be perfect...

The front desk staff were very helpful in trying to get us dinner reservations at a local restaurant and very tolerant of our last-minute addition of dog staying the the room. Staff at breakfast very also very helpful.
The rooms seemed a bit tired and dated looking.

The building is beautiful and well preserved. The breakfast was mediocre but that was out weight by the excellent staff.
The room was freezing cold but the view was stuff of legends

Good breakfast staff and food
Dirty lavatory in room Staff were totally unaware of local attractions Oriental chap switched off the lights half way thru' his and our breakfast-No money in hotel loads of towels lying outside an adjacent room. Ceiling leak?-very bad impression. Sandwiches at lunch were very poorly presented and tasteless Lack of staff to serve at bar-had to hunt every where including the kitchen.

The ambiance and decor of the hotel was excellent. The room was clean and you were able to open the windows properly... unlike some hotels..
The breakfast choice could be better and hotter...

Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"Would very much like to visit the hotel again" (97564521)
It was a great hotel, the family room was very spacious, very friendly staff
the family room was very expensive for me as a sinlge father with two young daughters under 7. The hotel could do with a few little touches, like updating, i noticed that there was no fire alarm sensor in my room. Also some of the wallpaper and plaster was loose in some places. The hotel has such a huge potential for splendor and value once again

Comfortable, quiet, I think most of the staff try hard to please.
a bit grubby in places - fridge hadn't been cleaned properly - had a sea view but could hardly see out of the windows or open them properly to air the room. Faded grandeur.

Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"In its heyday, this must have been a beautiful hotel. But the rooms, although very spacious, badly need an update; none of the furnishings match and the beds were hard as rocks. My husband had such a backache the next day, he could hardly walk. Parking is very limited, on the street wherever you can find. We booked this hotel because few hotels in this area offer family rooms that can accommodate four people. We also liked being right on the seafront so we could get out for a stroll along the promenade after breakfast. The dining room and our breakfast overlooking the sea were very nice and the service very good. But there are few decent restaurants in the area that one can walk to in the evening. If ever in the area again, we would choose to stay elsewhere." (97031663)
Bygone era ambience of seaside hotel; spacious family-sized room overlooking the promenade and the sea
The beds were terrible! My poor husband could hardly walk the next morning!

A slightly seedy hotel in a very good promenade position. Quite adequate, good accommodation, pleasant staff and good breakfasts
Bed ready for renewal. Inadequate parking.

No shower cubicle. No drinks in fridge. No prices for any drinks with room service.

Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"Over priced and living on the past glory of the hotel. Breakfast second day had both grapefruit and orange bowls off as going alcoholic. Main waiters seemed to think they were the cabaret and not there to quietly serve. Dinner Menu severely limited and somewhere in the recent past." (97119644)
Had character
TV remote missing, welcome folder non existant

The shops, bars, restaurants, and people do not appear to have any pride in what once used to be a beautiful setting on the south coast of England.I would recommend the hotel but not the area it now finds its self in." Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is in a beautiful location. It needs to be refurbished. There were no griprails in the bathroom making it difficult for older people to get in and out of the bath. A rail on the wall would have been very useful. The showere were not thermostatically controlled. The frequency of the cleaning could have been inproved. A vacume cleaner was to be seen permanently on the corridor but was never seen being used. The bed linen had holes in it. While the breakfasts were very good, the dinner was dreadful. The fish as not at all fresh and had no taste. The vegetables were course and tasteless. The decafinated coffee was instant. I think that in the 21st century it should not be too much to ask to be served ground decaf coffee. In all I felt that it was a rather jaded hotel." (3305203711)
The room was spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. However some fresh fruit would have been appreciated.
The decor was tired. The drapes and capets seemed to be full of dust mites making it difficult to breath. The corridors were airless and musty. The water pressure in the shower was very poor. One of the towels on the first day was dirty. The towels were grey rather than white. The matressses were old and not very confortable.

Best Western Royal Victoria Hotel, St Leonards-on-Sea - Reviews & Ratings"The Sunday breakfast was greasy and unappetising, although the staff serving were very helpful and friendly. No one asked us when we checked out if we had enjoyed our stay, apparently indifferent. The hotel is in need of a total renovation, the wallpaper around the hotel was, in places, very grubby and the overall effect of the hotel was of an unloved place. Some of the hangers in the wardrobes did not support the clothes and were unusable. The curtains hardly met in the bedrooms, and given the bright lights outside the windows all night, the curtains had to be propped against the wall using furniture, to prevent light coming into the room in order to sleep. There was a fridge in the room but this was empty. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone." (3304848085)
Room was large- the staff serving breakfast were helpful and friendly.
The actual property - which gives a very bad impression to foreign tourists of what it's like to stay in Britain. I thought I was back in the 1970s, when we had given up on England as a tourist destination. I certainly would, if this was all it had to offer.
