"Throughly enjoyable three days. Very minor critisisms were lack of local foods on the menu and on checkout it was disconcerting to find the wrong addresss on my bill." (3305050417)

Charming olde world atmosphere, excellent staff attention

"if you book a spring break that includes the market menu, this menu didnt change during our stay and only gives you 2 main meal options which are an acuired taste, so you have to pay extra for an option from a differant menu." (99231304)

room was lovely and clean, bed extremely comfortable, bathroom beautiful.

"Review might be totally different depending on rooms where guests stay. In other respects, checking out did not go smoothly because of irrelevant charging of money for the restaurant and gratuity included in the bill and some of staffs lack the sense to care guests expected for this class of hotels." (3305138880)

A room which we were given was on the ground floor very close to the fence where we could see only roads in the village. It was far below our expectation for the money of pound250 for one night. We then requested to change our room to a more decent one.At first a receptionist registed but fortunatelly,a lady who seemed to have higher authorization heard our negotiation and agreed to upgrade our room. Otherwise our experience in this hotel would be miserable.

    as mentioned above.

    "Excellent." (2577059)

Lovely building, it's setting, it's history (had read The Diary of a Cotswolds Parson Reverend F,E Witts 1783-1854 whose home the building hotel had been). Young foreign and local staff were very welcoming, well trained and pleasant. A delight in a world where hotel staff now communicate to each other by shouting across dining rooms.

Minor points. Don't laugh but the toilet seat in the room we had did not stay up (try and categorise that!). A major annoyance for a male when peeing and a pet hate of mine (so simple to solve). It would have been nice if the bar had some more local bottled beers. There was only the one regional one on offer. Plenty local fare available to stock.

"Hotel easy to find and located within walking distance of the beautiful village of Lower Slaughter. The overall building and general ambience matched up to our expectations although we were in the stable annexe rather than the main house. Staff were generally pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent and well presented. The grounds and outdoor seating would benefit from extra investment as things were a little shabby in places. Some benches in the walled garden would have been nice." (2620937)

Nice setting.quiet and relaxing. Central to parts of Cotswolds we wished to visit.

Room facilities not entirely up to par for this level of hotel .Towel rail functioned erratically and could not be turned off. Fan in bathroom inoperative (no window).Windows locked (ground floor room) and no key supplied to open them.

"My partner and I were looking for a couple of days quiet relaxation (with a bit of luxury) in a country location and we definitely found it here. We were both impressed and would love to go back again." (2582133)

It was in a beautiful location. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent.

Understanding of vegetarians. My partner and I are both vegetarians and while we were provided with an excellent vegetarian menu, we were served appetisers containing anchovies and I was served an unrequested gelatin based first course - tomato joulie. I had explained in the online booking form that we are vegetarian, though eat dairy products, but not fish, but I thought it was a bit odd anyway to serve fish and gelatin to diners eating from the vegetarian menu, though this is not the first time this has happened to us. It just seems like something that would be really easy to put right.

"This is an excellent hotel, the staff are very attentive and knowledgable. They have thought of every minor detail, even down to providing wellington boots for those walks on a wet day. The food is of a very high standard and a wonderful wine list. This is a hotel we will certainly visit again for a longer stay as we did not have much time to visit the wonderful countryside."
