This is quite simply the best B&B we have ever stayed in! A lovely house and gardens with a very friendly and interesting person running it. The owner chatted with us until after midnight, over a bottle of wine. The breakfast was substantial and good quality.

The Hotel and its surroundings were fantastic. It was quiet, well appointed and clean
A sign on the main road identifying the Hotel would have helped as I went past it three times before calling and getting directions

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"Aside of all this our room which was advertised as a Suite was more like a family room as it had a single a double bed and a single bed in it, overall though it was excellent value for money and if I was back in Birmingham again on business then I may consider staying there again even though I do prefer a hotel which has more facilities and is more modern." (99611792)
I slept well as the bed was very large and comfortable
too many antiques everywhere, including all the furniture, I see that the proprietor is passionate about his antiques and I do not hold that against him as it is his choice as to how he would like his hotel to be, however I would have liked it if there were some modern touches as well, also the mirror in the ensuite was broken and only half of it was left in its frame, this does not look very good especially since when you check in to your room, one of the first things you do is look in the en-suite !!

Location of the hotel was extremely quiet and convenient for my business meetings.
Facilities were a little on the poor side. Room possibly in need of redecoration. Hotel did not have a drinks licence which was a little disappointing after a days travelling.

It was a lovely house and the antiques were nice to see
It would have been nice to have had heating in the room and bathroom. we couldnt bath or shower because of the cold. There wasnt an option of a meal or snack, just directions to a pub

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"It was great, the staff were fantastic, food and service etc all great. Very happy and will go back. I just wonder because of all the bookings I am making or seem to make via yourselves whether I can have a discount membership etc? Think that would be a nice touch!!!!!" (2670204)
very nice bright room, lovely hotel, beautiful settings and surrounds, and fantastic antiques all around.
I always say this but the price, just think 52 a night is a lot, if you stay two nights you should be given a discount, and had to pay for breakfast as well which should be part of the price, or I assumed it was as this wasnt advised upon by yourselves.

It was like a rural retreat, very comforting and welcoming surrounds and people.
The only fault I found was that the shower was a hand held attachment and not wall mounted, not alot of pressure.

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"The only thing I can add really is the directions to this hotel, it's down a main road which is poorley lit, it would be a great idea to put a sign up indicting that the turn is just around the corner or on the directions it could note that just passed the traffic light sign we are on the right hand side. just a suggestion" (1663476)
The comfort and being left alone, no noise in the corriders,
The open fire was very very warm near check in desk

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"The accommodation initially appeared to be dull but our views quickly changed as we appreciated the unique character of the hotel. We received a warm welcome. The room was well laid out and we lacked for nothing. The beds were very comfortable and as my wife has back problems this was a major plus factor. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety and excellent quality of the breakfast which was taken in the charming conservatory. We would certainly go back." (1628187)
Quaint and unusual but very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"When booking it was not specified that breakfast was not included in the price and would be extra. We did not find this out until we came to leave which was quite embarrasing as we only just had enough money with us." (1563954)
The family were lovely and could not have been more helpful.
Furniture could have been a bit cleaner. Water pressure very low, unable to take a shower.

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"The place was beautiful and the owners were extremely friendly. I would defintely stay there again although I would advise them to get travel cots and high chairs if they want to encourage families." (1449682)
The family room was ideal as it had a separate living space to the bedroom so I could put my baby to bed and relax in the other room.
I was informed they had cots but on arrival all they had was a moses basket, good job I had my travel cot with me. They also did not have a high chair, again luckily I had a fold up one with me.

Holly Bank House, Essington - Reviews & Ratings"the owner was very nice, however we were left pretty much to our own devices. There was a secuerity lock on the door and we were given a code to get in and out not to bother the owners .we didnt like that. The house was dusty and unloved although there were beatiful antiques all around, there was no feeling of homeliness,we feel it wasnt a good experience and not value for money. The breakfast was adequte." there were dogs in the house that was great.
