The hotel-building looks very romantic and boasts a lovely garden. Very nice room. Excellent restaurant.

Clean and comfortable room,extremely friendly and helpfull staff, good food and service.
Restaurant not open Sunday Night, however Bistro was fine.

The staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
It was hot in the room due to summer temperatures.

the friendly atmosphere
it would have been nice for my partner to have been able to smoke in the room. but as it was she had to go into the garden every time she wanted a smoke.

Castle Hotel Silver Award, Taunton - Reviews & Ratings"Unfortunately only stayed for one night, but wished I could have stayed much longer. A very relaxed atmosphere, and friendly, polite staff made the night a great start to the weekend. I guess the one thing I would have liked to have known is that the dustbin lorry arrives VERY early on Saturday morning. If I had known I would have kept my window shut!! Will definitely return, however, if I can think of an excuse to visit the area again." (3304568407)
The hotel was individual, full of character, and in a lovely position. The staff were welcoming and efficient, and the food was gorgeous.
The bed was a bit hard.

The staff on reception were very helpful and the porter was on hand to escort to room. The rooms were of an extremely high quality and clean. The restaurant and bar facilites were second to none. I will certainly be staying at this hotel again and also recommending it to others. Very well done." (3304416840)

Good sized rooms, in an old and fascinating hotel which is full of intrigue and history. Something out of the ordinary, yet a hop skip and a jump from the town centre. If your looking for something different from the usual commercial chain hotels found in most town centres, this comes highly recommended.

But I did not feel as if I was getting value for money - the room was the same as most hotel rooms I have stayed in - yet it was about 3 times more expensive." (3304114526)
The room was extremely clean and fairly large, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Value for money - I felt I paid a lot of money for a room that was no better than a 60 pound a night room.

Room was really lovely, plenty of space. Bed was firm.
Shower was luke warm - did mention this on leaving the next morning.

We ate at the resturant in the evening and it was the best meal we have ever had, fairly expensive but worth every penny. Hotel is conveniently situated next to the shops, but has the feeling of quite isolation inside. A family owned business and happy professional staff." (3304242488)

The decor was complementary to the age of the building, the bathroom was large, well equiped and very clean
Floors a bit creaky which didn't worry us as we didn't have anyone above us but, if you were below........

Spacious, quiet,warm comfortable room with a huge bed.
A mini bar in the room would have put the icing on the cake, also an iron would have been much appreciated.

On completing my registration I mentioned that they wouldn't need my car registration as I had parked next door. The check in staff were most concerned that i would have to be up before 8 am the following morning to feed the meter. They very kindly offered to take my keys, park my car. This spontaneous and proactive approach made my stay extremely enjoyable." (2412711)

Would be a great place to meet people or have afternoon tea as there were plenty of seating areas and little nooks. Adequate parking but gets full quickly. Fantastic restaurant (one of the best meals I have had). Prices are slightly high, but the quality reflects this and I have no complaints. Only smoking area is the lounge which (as a smoker) I was happy with as it kept other areas clear for non-smokers. Also very well located within Taunton, but you wouldn't think it when in the hotel."
