Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"we didn't sleep at all and we changed our hotel for the 2nd and 3rd day. When I told the receptionist about the noise. He was surprised. We told him that we would like to change our hotel. He said that we would pay fully for the 2nd and the 3rd night.I claimed that I keep the room even if i won't stay. Afterwards when we got back from finding a new hotel, he seemed to ponder twice so we didn't pay for the 3rd night" (108716233)
we paid for a bigger room but stay in a tiny! We couldn't sleep beacause of the noise: continously someone was opening the door (private- think it's for the staff!)turning the keys.

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"Our short was excellent! We enjoyed our break from the day we arrived till the last day. Good............." (108458727)
My wife and I had a lovely holiday in madrid. The hotel attendants were very helpful and always cheerful and at all times prepared to assist us. The language different not a problem.
The double room were not as big as we expected but the cleaners did fantastic job.

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"I guess this place was worth the 39 Euros per night that we spent, but it did not feel at all like a 3-star place. More spacious rooms and a bed that didn't feel like a brick would have helped. " (108236492)
Check-in was easy, the staff all spoke good English. Location was also great, close to Metro and many fun places to eat and drink.
Our double room was teeny tiny, with hardly enough room to open up our two suitcases on the floor. Bathroom was also teeny tiny, when you opened the door, it hit the sink and you had to squeeze yourself in. Also, the WiFi only worked sporadically, and the direct Ethernet connection did not work at all.

Clean room, welcoming staff, ++/ location of the hôtel, very good ++/price
the bed sheets haven't been changed during our stay, and breakfast wasn't so good. Moreover, the fact that the climatization isn't included in the price of the room seems a bad surprise to us...

cleanliness of the hotel
VERY noisy (there is a disco under the hotel), very noisy on the street en the room was nest to the check-inn (constant ringing of phones of the nightbell, or people talking: very disturbing) the room was very small, the shower was leaking and the staff was not friendly (in exeption of 2 staff people)

I was surprised at how great this hotel was at the price we paid. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and they cleaned it every day. It was also a grate location close to everything and lots of restaurants and bars near by.
The only bad thing was that the internet did not work in our room and had to go out to the reception desk to use it.

Was staying on the 2nd floor, i could not access wireless internet as the connection was not strong for me to receive the signal in the room. The wired connection in my room was not possible as there was no signal even when i wire up my laptop to the port.

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"Although the location was great, I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I ever recommend it. This review was based mostly on the poor performance of the staff." (108012638)
The location was great.
In the hospitality industry, you should, at the very least, be nice to your guests. The staff were unpleasant and, at times, very rude. I don't think they would have bothered me as much if I didn't have to see them to give or get my room key. The room was almost claustrophobic but clean.

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"like i said got to see madrid, the room was ok the walls were quiote dirty need to be painted , but other than that the hostel is satifactory and is in the center, but would not recomend it to any1 " (97827838)
ood points is that we got to see madrid
the bad point are as we arrived to the hostel , the recepcionist was ever so rude we waiterd 1 hour and 30 mins to get into the room every time some one would buzz to get in the room the recepionist was speaking bad and swearing, we would aslo ask questions about the hotel and madrid and he would also swear and tell us when we leave make sure we leave on time , i am going to alsowrite a complainte to the head office of this hostal , as i think the staff were rude and sorry when you want to stay at a hotel you want to feel warm and welcome , this man didnt even want guests, as they obviously irritate him

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"Right in the middle of the Tapas bar quarter and consequently can be lively at weekends both inside and outside the hotel. Good rooms upstairs ( 200+) smaller elsewhere." (97091903)
central location, very clean
Thin internal walls. Not all rooms are as spacious as the one we had with bath and shower ensuite.

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"The hostal was in a very central location, about a 2 minute walk from Sol metro. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The safety deposit box in the room was only 1.50 per day. The power shower was excellent but a shame that you could not alter the position of shower head and the cubicle itself was on the small side. A kettle and a couple of cups and maybe a list of extras and their charges (ie. air conditioning; phone charges etc) would have been useful. Overall impression - fantastic!" (99335345)
The twin room (114) was excellent value for money and a very welcome suprise. It was of adequate size and very modern and clean.
The view from the window was of the window opposite (about 4 metres away) so we kept the curtain closed whilst in the room.

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"Overall the Hostal was a good choice. Some of the guests were a bit noisy late into the evening which I realise is out of the Hostals control. Coffee making facility in the rooms would be good. I was given the wrong room when I arrived(I had asked for a twin and was given a double). The member of staff who was on duty was very prompt in sorting out the problem." (99911943)
Clean, friendly staff and good value for money. Excellent central location.
Was noisy at night and the room was too warm

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"All in all we are very happy with our stay, and we sure would like to come back! The disappointment of not feeling very welcome at first, soon became a very small problem as we talked to the persons at the front desk in the next few days of our three nights' stay. And we were wished welcome back! This we will do. We loved the area the hostal was in, and found it easy to get around, walking and by metro." (99035625)
We liked the central place of the hostal. Good value for money. A very nice, cosy and clean room, with lovely colours and good heating, which we did not need caused to the unusual lovely weather of january. We had like a luxury feeling of breakfast served in the room; a very good idea for us, and timesaving.
When we arrived, past ten at night, as we had informed about,we were both tired and a bit anxcious, as we had never been in Madrid before. However, we did not feel very welcome; the receptionist did not even look up as we said hello. And the following morning, as we were told to call on the phone for breakfast, at my 'buenos dias', the greeting back was 'si?' Maybe a little course in smiling would do for this staff?

Hostal Tijcal II, Madrid - Reviews & Ratings"Una estancia tranquila." (108563349)

"A great choice for the urban traveller, for a short break or weekend." (108610299)
In general the staff were both attentive and helpful, often going out of their way to help. The location was excellent as well.
The sound-proofing between rooms was quite poor and while well signposted, it was difficult intially to tell if we were at the right place.
