The toilet was dirty upon our arrival The shower pressure was not good There was insufficient staff at reception to handle guest check-ins and not enough bar staff prior to the wedding I attended.

    nice room, pleasant bar

could have been warned about the abbey bell which kept waking me up - a room further away might have been better

    Good bar area, breakfast good

Check in later than I wanted (3pm) & hot water spluttering

Difficult if you have a lot of luggage. There's no drop off point and too many stairs. And our room was a long way from the reception desk.

"It was a pleasant stay. As mentioned, we would have liked to be nearer the lift for the sake of the disabled lady. The food and the service in the restaurant on the first night (Easter Sunday) was disappointing. The second night was much improved, the food was better and the waitress who served us was very pleasant and friendly. We left a blanket behind and it was despatched to us very quickly." (97823765)

comfortable bed, clean, well appointed, nice views.

It was very difficult for the disabled lady to get to the lift - we had given notice that she could not manage stairs but we were so far from the lift that we had to wheel her in her wheelchair from her bedroom.

"We found the base for our Weekend satisfactory, with a refurbished room, attractive and clean - all one to one communication was polite and effective in the Hotel. Great Views, the Great All-Day Breakfast and Room Service were good." (97782431)

The Abbey has a lot of inherited character and the recent programme of refurbishment is showing good progress. There is usually adquate Parking.

Location, although central, was designed for access by Carriages and Limousines so the Car Park is on the 'wrong' side of the building and slopes dramatically so (as an Architect) investment could be made to create a duplicate entrance at the lower level for access to the lift. The newer Rooms over the Elgar Suite fuction rooms are approached by a tortuous warren of corridors through either the Lounge Bar or the Dining Room and a series of changes in level that was difficult with luggage. There was no mention of Porters and we found the Lift later but access was via the Dining Area on our level. As far as we could tell we were in rooms surrounded by a Wedding Party and immediately on top of the Elgar Suite and Disco so we were rather disturbed to some extent.

Friendly staff. Greatly apprecaited their help in storing our purchases from Malvern's Farmers Market and in being able to use the luggage room. Was a delight to stay at the Abbey Hotel having known of it for 40 years." (97726333)

"It was very good being in the centre of the town. Despite the noisy hot room we enjoyed our stay" (108005170)

huge bathroom, nice big white towel, large comfy lounges

our room was beside the flue and fan from the kitchen - sounded like a jet taking off! It stopped at around 11 p.m, but started again at 6.30 a.m.! The flue also seemed to make the room very hot.

PLeasant young staff team. Lovely breakfast and views from the bedroom window wonderful. Good location for town and charming exterior.

Room just needs totally modernised and updated. Poor quality furniture and fittings. Black bits in the shower. Shoddy carpet and curtains. Has anything been done since 1970?

The building itself & location attractive. Breakfast was quite good but no more than most other hotels.

Out of date specials still on the menu with no times for food availability. Tables were not cleared by bar staff when not busy. Unfinished repairs in corridor.

"For a four star hotel the food was decidedly mediocre. The soup that was served as potato and leek on the first evening reappeared in exactly the same form as 'creamy veg' the next evening. On a Saturday night there were perhaps ten or fifteen tables taken only and still the staff couldn't get it right, different staff came to take orders, rolls were brought over twice, no-one brought drinks until we asked again, although we'd booked a specific time at reception no-one seemed to know about it, and a large proportion of the staff was foreign so that at times we had to spell out what we wanted and a lager shandy turned into just a lager because the waiter didn't know what lager shandy was. Breakfast was also not impressive, just the standard items and dodgy service. Still, the location couldn't be better and the surroundings are fantastic for walking. Stay here by all means but eat elsewhere!!" (97560904)

we had a room close to where the hotel held their parties, so we had loud music until 1 am

"A lovely hotel, with pleasant staff. The rooms and comfort level are very good indeed, as is the bountiful buffet breakfast. However, the car park is down the hill from the hotel entrance and it is very difficult to haul heavy luggage up to the reception and finally on to your room. We are in our mid 60s and found it a struggle. I would not recommend it to other people our age." (97138329)

The bed and the bathroom were excellent.

The diabolical access from the car park. All up hill and a very long way to carry and haul heavy luggage. Access direct from the car park is essential! We are reasonably fit for out age, but we will not be returning to the Abbey due to this problem.

"We booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding nearby, we arrived early and could check in straight away. We stayed in a superior room which was situated in the newer part of the building. It was large, very clean with a huge comfy bed and lots of pillows. The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice, but if you are a tea drinker i would advise you have coffee but this was my only complaint. We would recommend this hotel, as not only is it comfortable, the staff lovely, but even due to its perfect location in the heart of malvern we were not disturbed by any noise outside." (97561250)

"The staff were all very pleasant but the language barriers caused lots of problems especially in the dinningroom. Not the waiter/tress fault. I believe if they were given more training in what the menues contained then their would have been less problems. The morning we were there the breakfasts got all mixed up. I guess there were no table numbers either that might have helped them get it right. All of them were however were trying their best. However their performance let down the ambiance of old world charm and elegance." (97713291)

We stayed on a half board basis and the food was excellent, as were the friendly and efficient waiting staff. A super value break - we'd go again" (97015958)

"There was an old fashioned quaintness to this hotel which I found rather appealing. This is not to imply that it was in any way run down-far from it.There was an air of quality to the place-it was more like stopping over in a stately home. The room was very nice, if not over large, and the fittings and facilities were all in good condition.Conveniently situated-only a couple of minutes walk from the local shops. We would happily come here again." (97933987)

The room was tastefully furnished, very clean, and everything seemed to work properly.Breakfast was more than adequate.

I found the bed a little hard for my taste, but others might disagree. The service at breakfast was very slow on the second day.
