Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Not a pleasant experience, didn't want to shower because of the smell in the bathroom, slept on top of the bed covers as the lower sheet was badly stained. Floor was obviously a stranger to a 'hoover'." (107781486)
Continental breakfast was better than expected
Dirty floor, obviously not been cleaned recently. Debris apparent. En-suite bathroom clean, but very smelly ? drains ? didn't want to shower in it. TV not working Broken electric wall plug - could see live wiring. Bedding was clean, but stained

no good points
Room appeared to be a very small prison cell with no air conditioning and the beds were too small to sleep in without falling out.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"I had not stayed in the area for several years but the Swinton was exactly what I expected from previous experience. Staff were efficient and friendly. I would have preferred a full English breakfast to be available, but that is a minor criticism, although it could lead me to look elsewhere in future." (107155843)

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"With little exception the worst hotel we stayed in throughout our visit to the UK. The management of the hotel was marginal, the problems we had were rectified on request, but should have been corrected prior to our observing the problem. We specifically chose this hotel because it had a lift, but then found it didn't work. Just plain horrible !" (107245468)

Pleaseant and attentive staff
Room was very hot, couldn't find any way of cooling it down bar opening the window, being on the bottom floor, it posed a security question.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"The single room was very simple, but it's close to the centre and with the breakfast together generally it's ok." (108074180)
Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good! (Very important how you start your day.) King's Cross St. Pancras station is just a few minutes walk.
Heavy and noisy traffic front. (Motorbikes were pretty unbearable...)

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Okay, but I'd never stay there again. There were a lot of better options in the area." (107196332)
Free internet access to guests - can't get in some rooms, but can access in the lobby. A lot of places charge you 10 pounds a day or more to access the internet. Also within easy access of King's Cross station which is a central hub for the tube which was very helpful. Great sport's pub around the corner.
Everything was very dirty - daily cleaning services very poor. Bring your own towels and wash clothes as towels were few and far between and wash clothes non-existent. Lift was broken for most of my stay so be prepared to hoof it with your luggage.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"I would never stay at this hotel again & certainly never recommend it. I am actually a hotel manager for a very popular & successful chain & the only reason i did not stay in one of my own is convenience of location. This hotel was so substandard in comparison to any others i have ever come across." (97849294)
The breakfast staff were accommodating
The welcome was absolutely shocking, staff encountered on reception did not once smile, or offer any friendly conversation at all. The rooms we stayed in, 15 & 19 were filthy and the basic facilities did not work. I got scolded in the shower as there was no cold water & had to wash at the sink with a trickle of water which was coming straight out of the u-bend under the sink onto the floor. The plug in the shower was full of hairs & fluff & was evident it had not been cleaned. I didn't take my shoes off through the stay as i was not confident of the cleanliness. Thick dust covered the tv & cobwebs covered the curtain pelmets.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"From getting out of the car the outside of the hotel looked like a dumping ground with rubbish down the steps and at the side and also a broken window. I was still feeling optimistic about the inside as you don't tend to judge a book by it's cover but as I walked into reception it looked like the hotel had had a fire as the chipwood white wallpaper was black and grey with dirt. I proceeded to check in at reception to be welcomed (not!!) by a dirty clothed man who had no idea about customer etiquette, needless to say we didn't even go to find out what the room was like if the entrance was that bad then I dread to think what that was like. We ended up going out to find alternative accomodation and ended up getting a 5***** hotel for £10 more than The Swinton Hotel. How they have managed to stay open for so long is a mystery to us, not only is it over priced but the website is VERY misleading." (97884033)
Where do I begin??? Everything.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"For the price it was entirely "adequate". Do not stay here if you are looking for somewhere to spend any time. Do stay here if you are looking for somewhere cheep and comfortable to crash during a capital visit." (97501812)
The price and location were Good. The room was clean and surprisingly nicely decorated.
The first impression of the hotel (prior to seeing the room) was poor. All of the corridors and reception stank of cigarette smoke.(Our understanding was that the entire hotel was no-smoking. Reception and corridors have a seedy feel to them.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Comfortable bed in a small but perfectly acceptable single room, with a shower, wc, tv, fan and fridge. Very convenient for an overnight stay. Check in after 1pm and check out by 11am. Reception and access was available 24hrs. If what you are looking for is just a comfortable, safe and convenient place to stay in London at a reasonable price then this is ideal." (108030842)
Comfortable, easy to find and good location. Excellent breakfast and waitresses. Would definitely stay here again.
wc and shower were a little old and "tired" but perfectly acceptable but, for London, I found this hotal good value for money and will use again.

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"There was no lock on the windows in my room. Fire escape was right outside the largest window. Obviously not much sleep as worried everytime I heard a noise. Fridge right next to the bed also kept me awake. Bathroom smelt really bad. Shower holder broken so had to hold shower head. Electrical sockets not conveniently placed. Room could do with a good clean." (97142014)
Breakfast was good value, plenty of hot water

Swinton Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"My stay was overall favorable and it was close to the British Library and Kings Cross. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was basic but there was plenty of it. I would stay there again. " (108017620)
The bed linen and towels were spotless, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast staff were cordial and efficient when dealing with guests.
No real bad points, other than minor gripe's, like there was only one pillow on the single bed, and the bed was make up of some foreign material, like an incontinent mattress, as it was loud when one tossed and turned. Actually it contributed to a disturbed sleep.
