The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"A very nice and peaceful stay, with very nice staff. Parking at the hotel is a bit expensive (£15.00/night) and needs to be booked in advance, and we saw 3 different rates on the various confirmations we received, but the overall experience was very good and great for a quiet weekend. We couldnt stay in a sea view room as they were all booked, but had a great top floor room which still had some view of the estuary, was spacious and comfortable. If there was any comment to make it would be that the restaurant service could be a little more polished especially when paying over £30.00/head for dinner, but all staff were very pleasant, and this is not a big issue. Would definately recommend this hotel!" (97051802)
Peaceful and quiet, very nice position, clean and everything worked well, very welcoming and helpful staff

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"We liked the friendly, helpful but not intrusive, atmosphere generated by the staff. The food was good and overall the hotel was clean and well kept. Building work in progress while we were there slightly hindered our initial impression and on entering the hotel we were very aware of the bar, which opened directly on to the entrance hall and the reception area looked more like a working office than a greeting place." (97707597)
We very much enjoyed the views and the southerly aspect.
The size of the room, the shower cubicle and the headboard had grease stains from a previous occupant. The bed was uncomfortable and its springs could be felt.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"The whole hotel will need to be completely refurbish; however, please retain the staffs becuase they are extremely helpful and friendly. I would not recommend or return to this hotel until the refurbishment is done." (97214730)
The staffs is extremely helpful and friendly. The main reason why I would stay there would be the staffs.
The carpet in the dining is absolutely disgusting. It very dirty and definitely need to convert into woodfloor or new carpet. It look fine in the evening but during the day it look absolutely filthy and awful which completely contradict the beautiful room and view.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was in a very good location, a bit difficult for parking only limited spaces (due solely to the town itself and not detrimental to the hotel) and we had to use the public car park. it was very clean and tidy, although perhaps a little dated and could have done with a bit of redecoration, however overall the facilities were clean and tidy. The one drawback was having to use the public carpark which was up a very steep hill. We have no complaints and will use it again as the hotel is well placed for touring around the area." (97235705)
very nice and clean, staff were very helpful, polite and not overbearing.

warm friendly welcome and great breakfast. Parking is a bog problem - £15 extra per car seems a bit steep given the initial cost of the rooms.

We will definately be re-visiting hopefully in the summer months to allow us to enjoy the Hotel Tea Gardens & spectacular balcony views. Happy to recommend to all our friends. Super!!!!" (97748252)
Very friendly & efficient Hotel, superb setting & Hotel itself sympathetically refurbished, period features were a real wow!Nothing too much trouble & all staff very polite & professional. The Bar & Dining Area's took full advantage of the spectacular views across the Fowey estuary.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"The instructions for arrival were good and very useful, especially in a town with narrow streets like Fowey. The car parking was as arranged, again, useful to have this facility. Hotel rooms were nice, staff helpful and skilled. We would be happy to come back again and stay longer." (97363463)
As described in information. Good staff, excellent food and service in dining area.
Not much, perhaps the room could have a fresh coat of paint on the skirting boards - wear and tear! The reception floor etc looked shabby, not in keeping with rest of communal rooms

Atmosphere, dining room, lounge and bar area. Comfortable room, lovely bathroom.
Droning pipes! think there must be an airlock? but it meant we heard next door go to the bathroom in the night, woken by noisy pipes.

Great location and view. The food was terrific, and staff very helpful.
The general feel of the hotel is "tired". The bar area lives off its view but the windows and frames were dirty. This was the case around the hotel - window frames need to be clean too! Areas of the grounds were unkempt with soggy cardboard bags near the building - no excuses for this, it is easy to monitor and clean up.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"The pictures of typical bedoom was a little misleading- they were far from the modern impression that i had from the website! In addition the quilt on top of the bed had staining which resulted in us removing it- no great loss as the room was extraordinarily hot, with the radiators off! Outside it was about 5. 0c!" (97213705)
The view
The room was far too hot, this resulted in us taking the drastic step in the middle of the night when we opened the patio door, leading onto the main path outside! This meant that the night's sleep was very disturbed!

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"This is a fantastic hotel in an excellent location but requires a refurbish very quickly.Anything that looked new appeared to be very cheaply done and since this is meant to be a top quality hotel, commanding an above average rate, I was sorely disappointed!" (108085996)
Hotel Staff were pleasant and everything was as requested except the wine was no longer chilled and I had to ask for the ice to be replenished, which it was. I cannot fault the service.
Mould in the shower. Shabby furnishings and generally tired room/Hotel. The grandeur is beginning to look seedy.

The breakfast was excellent although the service was rather slow. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The comfortable bar with a wonderful view was a good place to sit in the evening." The room was clean, comfortable and a good size. It had all the extras we needed. The whole hotel was in a very good state of decoration.
The only complaint we had was that the carpet in the dining room was very dirty - quite unpleasant.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"We really enjoyed our stay. Pre-booking parking is an absolute necessity. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was superb. The hotel is very well located and has an wonderful view over the estuary. It is close to the town but also not far to walk the Coast Path. The lounges could be a little more cosy but we think the hotel is in the process of refurbishing as new carpets have been laid. The staff could not be more attentive and friendly." (99287882)
Warm greeting on arrival. Check-in excellent. Room spacious, well furnished and comfortable. Food in restaurant truly excellent.
Furnishings (settees etc) in lounges a little worn but can see that refurbishment is underway. Would preferred to have been shown to our table in restaurant rather than being asked to select a table ourselves.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"This hotel was what you're always wishes for and only sometimes get. It has a wonderful friendly relaxed atmosphere. The surrounding where traditional but welcoming and the views were just stunning. The rooms with views were well worth the extra tariff and every opportunity is afforded the guest to make the most of the views. Our rooms had French Windows and we were able to sit on a small patio just outside our room and take in the surroundings, feeling as if we were the only people there. We had teenagers in our party and they were treated really well. Nothing was too much trouble and apart from one breakfast, the service was prompt efficient and friendly. We ate in the bar and in the restaurant both of which offered excellent food. We prefered the bar meals but the restaurant would be spot on for special more formal occasions. Breakfast was to die for!And you could order all the things for the bar and breakfast menus as room service which was also very prompt. Checking in and out was a doddle and whilst we had to book as space for parking and were expecting it to be difficult it was no problem at all. Overall it was a wonderful experience, the staff make all the difference in this hotel." (99028433)

I recieved the literature and was pleasantly surprised by the brochure. The whole hotel is brilliantly presented and the staff were friendly and professional. I was looking for somewhere that fulfilled my simple criteria, the information I recieved while booking the hotel covered my criteria fully. I was sure of the quality of the hotel before booking but was still delighted!" (99851451)
Staff were very accomadating and helpful, views are beautiful and the range of public rooms meant we could enjoy them in comfort. Our room was beautifully presented and who doesn't love an old fashioned lift in perfect order?
Everything was genuinly lovely. Obviously would have been nice to have a seaview from the room but hey, can't have everything.

I should have booked the parking slot before going; perhaps you should stress even more how limited the space is & how far it is from the public car park - but in the light of our overall satisfaction, the parking is a small thing." Clean; tidy; plenty of public rooms incl.smoking room; pleasant & efficient staff; immediate attention to residents' needs;
Nothing really. You can't do much about the parking altho' you did find us space every night. I did mention the squeaky door hinge and I have no doubt that if I was there tomorrow, the squeak will have disappeared.

The Fowey Hotel, Fowey - Reviews & Ratings"We booked online through an agent and did not have the option of including dinner at the reduced price. On checking your own web-site I believe the same applies. As a result we would not book online again. We found the options for the dinner menu at the hotel confusing with the Plain Sailing menu in the bar priced for each part of the menu but it was not priced in the dining room. We subsequently found out that the Plain Sailing menu was an option in the dining room at a fixed price for all three courses." (99438416)

The position of the Hotel
The miserable check-in. Bath that was not cleaned prior to our arrival. Being forgot after ordering breakfast and then waiting a further 50 minutes when dining room not particulary busy ( most people seated after us getting served prior to us). Filthy windows. We thought it was rude at check out to be asked if we would like to leave a tip, other guests commented on this standard procedure as well.

Lovely location and views from the hotel terrace/balcony(although the view from our room of the car park was pretty depressing). Grand Victorian hotel with impressive public rooms. Decent good quality cooked breakfast. Very polite staff.
Very expensive (although Fowey is clearly a tourist trap where prices are set artificially high to generate as much income as possible).

Problems with parking. Hotel is on a hill and therefore not recommended for 'older' people. Very little control over the heating in the room (the weather on our stay was good and the room was too warm).
