Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"Very dissappointing" (107311856)
Reasonable breakfast
Hard mattress which was also lumpy. Wash basin in the bathroom was so small it was a joke.Other guests came in at 3.00am and woke everybody else up.

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"A pleasant stay prior to a funeral in bad weather. I would stay again if it were not for the superior quality of a B&B in nearby Somerton where we stayed the following night because of thick snow!" (107846773)
A fine building in a pleasant situation in a pretty village. Attentive host worked hard in bad weather conditions
There seemed to be 'work in progress' so that some features had not quite been finished. A 'modern' style of decor and fittings at odds with the 'old' style of the building - an 18th? century country inn.

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"really enjoyed my stay, very comfortable. thanks" (108098813)
wireless, bare with quality beers, room spacious modern and clean, staff very friendly.
restaurant menu a little restrictive, as a business traveller I was more looking for less sophistication and more volume - bowl of pasta for example. Beautiful surroundings but as this was a summers night I had a window open and was awoken every hour with the chimes from the church, I realise there is little that youi can do about that one!

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"The second time I've stayed at this hotel and I look forward to staying again. Excellent food and relaxed but efficient service." (97771931)
Spacious room in a building adjacent to the main hotel. Good furnishings with a bottle of water and tea/coffee making facilities.
Only minor niggle is that the shower cubicle is on the small side but it worked fine!

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"This is a very nice hotel, easy to find with signs on the nearby main road, car park spaces limited, but plenty of room for parking around the village green outside. Staff are all helpful and mannerly at all times." (97782471)
Room was a very good size with very nice comfortable bed and furiture with tea making facility in the room. Building has plenty of period charm and had been decorated very well, nice bar area and dining room.
En-Suite was a little cramped, but workable.

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"A nice location with very friendly staff. Food in the restaurant was good but a bit over-priced. We arrived mid-afternoon to find the doors locked so check-in was delayed." (97990908)
Clean room. Good restaurant.
No chairs in the room. Very limited storage with no drawers and only 4 coat hangers. Window did not shut properly so noise from passing traffic was intrusive.

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"The Devonshire Arms has only nine rooms but these appear to be of a good standard. The car park is only small but there is plenty of parking space around the village green which is adjacent. Although it is a public house, the bulk of the custom appears to be from the overnight residents. Guests would be best advised to agree a check-in time in advance of their arrival because the pub is closed between 3.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. and there is no formal reception as such. The food is a high standard both for breakfast and evening meal. Their web site displays up date menus for lunch and evening meal and the prices are also current." (97163163)

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"Beautiful building with contemporary decor, situated in a lovely location. There is a warm, relaxed atmosphere and the food is excellent. All the staff were very helpful and always had a smile on their face. If you are staying for longer than one night then the room needed some drawers/dressing table and perhaps some more practical bedside cabinets. We both thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and it was a pleasure to return to the hotel in the evening to sample some of the excellent beers and lagers in the bar before enjoying an evening meal either in the restaurant area or in the bar area. My wife says the west country fillet steak was probably the best steak she has ever had!" (97208454)

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"Best place I've ever stayed." (99477538)
Just about everything - room, decor, atmosphere, food, location, staff
Only that relatively high price would rule out my staying there as a leisure traveller

Devonshire Arms, Martock - Reviews & Ratings"Unfortunately I arrived at the hotel very late after a long journey. However, I was made to feel welcome and all the arrangements went well. The setting of this hotel is excellent in a quiet english village." (99427746)
Bathroom was adequate but small, as a business traveller a small desk in the room would have been useful - however, if I had been travelling for leisure then the room would have been ok

"excellent" (107946167)
absolutely lovely hotel, would recommend!
no power points near to the mirror, and the shower was fairly dark in the corner of the bathroom, also lots of bugs in the room
