The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"Very satisfied." (108350956)
Clean, comfortable and efficient, with a good breakfast.
No bad points. The pressure on parking might have made for difficulty during the week, but in the event we had no problems. In any case, the information when we booked made it clear that parking was limited.

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"Well placed for the town and railway station. " (108923491)
Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Basic tv channels were not working such as ITV, Channel, Sky news. There were noise problems from the outside road - road sweepers at 6am each morning seemed to take a long time to pass.

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings" I liked the hotel, I just found the above alittle frustrating as it did not suit the purpose of my visit which was to try the London commute from Godalming - and a few details - food serving timings/loo cystern spoilt my stay." (108419491)
Nice Hotel good location
Breakfast started at 7:30 am so no breakfast was available when I left at 6:30 - 7:00, No food available on a Sunday evening, room loo had a cystern fault so was in continuous refill mode for most of the evening, no full time staff manned check in or check out making the experience abit impersonal.

Well appointed room. Excellent shower facilities. Good food - dinner and breakfast. Warm and friendly welcome.
Some restrictions on parking due to building work to rear of hotel.

A very good atmosphere and a welcoming feeling when you enter the hotel. Staff were so polite and helpful and nothing was too much for any of the staff I had contact with whilst staying there. Rooms were bright and tidy as well as very clean. I would recomend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay one night or longer as this has to be one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in. Well done all those members of staff for making my stay such a memroble one

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"Pretty decent but perhaps a bit over priced." (107325543)
It was a decent inn with friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Central for the town.
A little noisy as local night spots are nearby.

Reasonable hotel pretty much as expected.
No record of the reservation. Fortunately we were able to get hold of the booking reference and pin and that was eventually accepted. No point in offering online booking process if the hotel does not record the information!!

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was very difficult to find - a complex series of one-way streets which are far from intuitive. I arrived and left hungry and a little frustrated. I would not wish to repeat the experience." (107457447)
On my late arrival, Manager and Receptionist were warm, helpful and friendly. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable.
Room lacked amenities - drinking water, local information and maps, information on hotel services (e.g. breakfast - included in the price - was only available for 1 hour and although this was posted as a notice somewhere, it was not made obvious to me). I was offered no meal on arrival either, just an expensive drink. Also there was no payment receipt available - it was 'all taken care of'.

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"Not enough choice in the food and quite expensive. Overall the lady in charge was very welcoming and could not do enough for you" (107571810)
The lady of the house was very nice and accomodating the man needs lessons in people skills - the room was modern and clean and so was the hotel
No one to greet guests - the bar was busy and the barlad tended to customers before seeing to guests who had travelled a fair distance. The food choice was limited

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"Okay, but not best we've stayed in, not as expected for price." (107403265)
Great room, nice view, good location
Very noisy late at night, up to 2am, hotel next door to night club. Breakfast room was cramped, service slow and many items, like milk jug on each table, not available, cutlery not clean. TV in room very poor reception. Overall hotel needs a maintenance person, many light bulbs blown.

Mascara on towels, no bulb in side tables, no TV reception, bathroom ceiling came in, had no breakfast second morning because it took 25 mins for beans on toast.

The staff were very helpful especially as the owners had only taken over the Hotel 5 days earlier and were still finding their feet.Very quick to find another room for us when the heating was not found to be working in the original room.Food that was served was well prepared and good portions. Great Breakfast.Hotel well placed in the High street and good parking.
Fire alarm went off but Disco still kept playing and member of staff dd not know where the evacuation point was or indeed if the hotel was to be evacuated. Menu very basic would have liked to have seen more variety.

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"The most unpleasant stay in a hotel for many years - and one of the most expensive. Nothing at all like the brochure online. Massively disappointing." (97773460)
Convenient to venue. Lovely town.
So many - tiny room with two beds, surly, disinterested staff - seemed to be staffed by school leavers, no adults at all - except for the chef who couldn't be bothered to get off his backside to cook two vegetarian breakfasts -although I had checked that these were on offer and available two days before. Rest of breakfast tasted as if it had been cooked hours previously - dried up and horrible. When we got back to the hotel after midnight there was a loud disco with some very drunk people - we hadn't been warned that this would be so. We'd just been to a gig, we have no problem with loud music, but this was horrid. Rooms were underheated - very chilly, we could have done with another duvet each.

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"As this weekend was booked to celebrate my father's 80th birthday we were very disappointed with the service and food. I also ordered a birthday cake which did not appear and no mention was made. I think the place lacked management direction!" (107389861)
Staff extremely friendly, helpful and polite and couldn't do enough for us.
Dinner/Breakfast service extremely slow. The food was not good at all. Four of our party (of 11 people) had the 'special' soup and I think the chef forgot to put any flavouring in as it was absolutely tasteless (and we were still charged for it). Main course was adequate but many meals were cold! The manager offered us some chocolate with our coffees but nothing turned up and we had to ask, only to be told they had none! At breakfast we asked for butter and for a party of 11 they bought 4 small pieces and when we asked for more we got another four!!!!Overall food dreadful but staff great!!

The Hotel denied any knowledge of the booking even though we showed them the Confirmed Booking email from active!! So at 7.30pm we had to find alternative accommodation and ended up in a B&B several miles away - NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE!

The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel, Godalming - Reviews & Ratings"Disappointed due to the above, not that breakfast had not been served at time stated but that we had been lied to an apology would have gone a long way. It was a 40th Birthday celebration and this was a bad start to my birthday." (107219590)
room was very comfortable and spacious
On room info breakfast was due to be served at 0715 on the Saturday am, we waited in reception area til 0800 no one came breakfast room locked. On later speaking to gent whom I assume was manager he stated I was mistaken and that he himself was about from 0700. When another guest in our party questioned this he then stated that breakfast at weekends was served from 0800. We went to our room and took down the info stating Mon - Sat 0715 and Sundays 0800. He stated this was misprint. He did offer us a free 1 pint and 1 half pint of lager however as there were four adults in party we feel this does not reflect the cost of breakfast which we had to purchase elsewhere at £5.95 per head. Unfortunately we were unable to wait past 0800 as had transport booked.

Room and hotel was clean. Staff were helpful.
Odd layout of the room with the beds at opposing corners with acute angle views of the flat screen TV on the opposite wall. Said TV had an unfathomable on/off switch (staff assisted however). Cleaner on the second day did not replace all of the bathroom items.

The staff at the hotel were extremely hospitable and the rooms were also very well decorated.
Only negative is that when using your website my booking was transferred from a double reservation to a twin reservation. The hotel sorted this immediately for me but next time I would book direct with the hotel to avoid errors.

"Very pleasant" (108911053)
The staff were very responsive to a female lone customer.
None although if it had been during the week, I suspect parking would have been difficult.
