California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is so handy to Kings Cross/St Pancras, we would stay there again, for a stopover. " (108133269)
Staff were excellent, breakfast was very good, some items were not very hot, and we were the first ones for breakfast. Our room was small, but we were only there for an overnight stay, however the bathroom made up for that, with excellent shower.
A little maintenance up the stair ways, carpet very scruffy/threadbare. Room could of done with a little TLC.

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Except for the above, all over attitude and atomospher were good." (108234199)
The staffs was kind and good attitude.
I chosed this hotel because some rooms had a bathtub. Unfortunately, that room was not prepared. The staff changed the room from a non-bathtub room to a bathtub room with additional pond 9 . However, the room was located at the undergrand and they did not hava a escalator. So, it is not easy to chose this hotel for a traveller like me to have a heavy luggage.

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Unbearable with the room size and facility. " (108218741)
Good attentive staff who were courteous and helpful
Room is a huge disappointment - small, cramp and very poor sanitary facilities especially having a wash basin in front of the bed although internet pictures showed that the room was spacious.

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel close to main railway stations Euston,Kings Cross, St. Pancras. Clean, nice breakfast, suitable for a short stopover." (108652454)
Hotel was very convenient and easy to find on arrival at Euston. It was close to St. Pancras for onward journey by Eurostar Tea making facility in room.
Twin room was on the small side and access to bathroom was tight.

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent value for money providing clean convenient room for short stay. No frills but better than most in area of comparable price" (108864337)
Good location - quiet even though very near Kings Cross Station. Clean bright decor - sort of 60's retro - tea and coffee in room, buffet English breakfast, ensuite shower and toilet.Friendly reception staff-although I was disappointed that the nice men painting the front hall were not included in the room rate!
Limited towels - one each and no bathmat or toiletries - there is a soap dispenser. Poor TV reception apart from 1&3, but hey, you don't travel to London to sit in and watch TV

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Its easy to find from Kings Cross station and is good value for money. Minor issue over breakfast, but if i needed to visit the area again, will defintely stay again. 8/10" (108711597)
Receptionist was very helpful to my friend who i had travelled with, as he wanted to know where some shops were and the best way to get there, and the checking in and out process with same person was also therefore good. Room was fine for our purposes. Self service breakfast
Stayed at the hotel 6 months ago and remembered that some of the cooked breakfast items, such as beans and tomatoes, were a bit cold. They were on this occasion too.

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Wost " hotel " I've ever been to. -10 out of 10." (107892159)
Dirty room, dirty bathroom, TV didn't work, shower didn't work, window held open by a pice of wood, room the size of a postage stamp, rude inatentive staff, reception staff openly arguing with each other in front of guests, inadequate and unseceure luggage storage area. To sum up: " A joke of a hotel that should be avoided at all costs, and probably shut down under Health & Hygiene Laws ". Checked out after one night to book into a decent hotel Tarvelodge and will never be back. Advise all of your readers to avoid this hotel like the plague.

Excellent value for money. Clean and comfortable room. Excellent central location. Friendly staff. Felt safe and welcome as a single woman.
Room was a bit 'shabby', e.g. carpet very old and worn, but not a major drawback in comparison with all the plus points of this good value hotel.

California Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"bad room, bad building. I was wondering if it would be possible to escape in case of a fire from that 100cm narrow corridors and equally narrow steep staircase. I was expecting not much, but this was even below my expectations. The only plus side was that the sheets were clean (but the bed was too narrow and wobbly) Anyway, stay clear of it." (107835599)
cheap for a london hotel
well, except for the cheap price the rest is either bad or too bad

good location. (easy railroad and underground access less than a block away)
no working telephone objectional adjacent room noise due to thin walls no lift available (tight, narrow stairways - difficult with luggage)

"Good value for a budget hotel in central London. It's not going to win awards, but the room was clean and warm, the breakfast was fine, the staff were helpful, and the use of the lockable luggage room before check-in and after check-out was handy. The bathroom - especially the shower - was a bit cramped. As with my previous stays at this hotel, shampoo, soap, etc, were not provided. Can't comment on the WiFi - I had a signal but didn't get around to asking them what the access code was." (108276564)
Warm, clean, quiet room. Good breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff. Very handy for Kings Cross / St Pancras. Well located a minute's walk from the nearest tube entrance.
Cramped bathroom, no complimentary toiletries. The narrow corridors and staircases might bother some people carrying a lot of luggage.
