Sea view was great The breakfast was top class
We booked a luxury double room, the shower was far from luxury blocked showerhead making the water trickle out, my wife had trouble washing the shampoo out of he hair.

Restaurent staff and food were very good.
Room was in need of refurbishment, particularly the bathroom and sash windows.

Nice staff. Good communal areas downstairs. Nice looking restaurant. Good situation on sea front.
Room decor is tired - borders starting to peel off, old looking eiderdown. Was clean though. Would prefer buffet for continental breakfast to make service quicker.

Staff were very friendly and attentive; nothing was too much trouble, and I was even given a print out map for my onward journey. Room service was quick and the food was really good, and a great value price. I would have paid more and still thought I had had great value. Much better than other room service experiences that I have had!
The decor could have been updated, I needed to open my window to keep cool and the seagulls were a tad noisy. Good size bathroom though, and all clean and tidy.

Clean and tidy
Advertised with parking.my wife was told to park on street but when I asked for parking we got secure parking. Parking was 5 minutes away. Kept having to take key to parking before going anywhere.

Excellent location ; for a foreigner, the hotel has an atmosphere of earlier times to it, which makes it attractive
The elevator could be refreshed: it looked worn ; the wall opposite to my room had marks from a device that was removed, and the paint wasn't restored.

The staff was particularly friendly. The young lady at reception was exceptionally helpful.
Breakfast was in a nice restaurant. The quality of the breakfast could be better...cheap ingredients, like terrible sausage.

well equipped room and the hairdryer was situated in a useful place in front of the mirror !! We found the staff very friendly and welcoming and eager to help.
Room was quite small and could have been claustrophobic if we had been staying several nights. Small choice of lager in the bar.

Very large, airy, double room with fantastic view of the sea. Food cooked well, especially dinner, including top quality meats. Friendly, helpful staff, especially in the bar.
Tiny bathroom with a shower so small that my husband could not use it. No mini bar or fridge. No safe in room. Single room (229) was tiny. Adequate, traditional, english breakfast but poor quality sausages and no fish option (smoked haddock or kippers). Croissants were brick hard and inedible (although the restaurant manager offered to replace). Very limited evening,a la carte menu with few vegetables included.

room was nice and clean, four poster bed was lovely
night porter was rude and abrasive, there was no ice available due to the ice machine breaking down. when we asked for some ice, due to our room being very hot and the window sash's all being broken so the windows would not stay open, he said he only had 5 bits left and we could not have them, they were only for people drinking in the bar! he did not apologise and was quite rude. We complained about this to the receptionist on check out but she just said she would tell maintenance about the windows and apologised. She refused to give us any discount as she said our room rate had already been discounted at booking. We did not think this was really the point as it was the hotel's fault the window sashs were broken on all three windows and obviously had been for some time.

Excellent value - twin room £50. Very clean, staff very pleasant.
But hotel feels rather antiquated. Feels like a bit of a time warp but then so does Eastbourne's seafront.

Hotel appearance is very good and welcoming. Easy check in. Breakfast good. Superb location.
Wasn't asked to fill in registration card on arrival Breakfast - given juice in a dirty glass (waitress did apologise) Brown sauce top was congealed. Not asked if I enjoyed my stay on checkout - in fact no comments were made at all!

Location in conservatory for breakfast was great - and the speed in which it was delivered was impressive. That was important because I wanted to get on my way to an appointment. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant.
I would have loved to have scanned the headlines of the newspaper at breakfast -but the only one was in use. I had a great view over the beach and the sea but it was a little noisy due to the traffic - and seagulls!

The breakfast was very nice
The room was really basic and very old. The room was really cold and there were not enough blankets on bed. Also it seems that our booking was cancelled by Active Hotels and I was not aware of this, it was lucky that they had availability.

Staff on reception generally very pleasant and helpful
I do not now like booking on line. I do not like agency bookings - it is too impersonal. When booking elsewhere in the past I have become accustomed to being asked if I would like a meal but in this instance when I phoned the hotel, a week or so after the reservation, to book a meal I was told that I was too late i.e.the restaurant was full. I did however ask for car parking and was told OK but when I arrived there was none available. Not an auspicious start to what was intended as a restful break

Friendliness and helpfulness of staff was excellent. Also the standard of the food presented and waiter(ess) service was excellent, made to very welcomed even as a "single traveller". Facility of wi-fi a huge benefit for being able to work from the hotel.
The standard of the room was disappointing, whilst clean it was very basic and in need of improvement in terms of decoration - especially in the bathroom.

Very poor parking availability at Hotel or in general area The room athough clean, was undergoing redecoration work which had been left unfinished. Romote control on TV didn't work Breakfast, portion size was very small

Very friendly and accommodating front of house staff. Nicely laid dining room for breakfast, with clean white table linen and plenty of staff.
Room very cold, only very small electric heater on wall - Bathroom very very cold! (Too cold to shower in the morning) Sligthly tired decore in room but OK for the price. Nice bacon at breakfast, but deep fried cheap sausages and very small eggs.

We found the hotel very comfortable, well decorated, friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere there. Quiet but lots going on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again.
OUr room was quite small at the back of the hotel so the view was of a derelict building, but as we were only there for one night and not in the room much that didn't matter. It was clean and cosy.

CLEANLINESS OF ROOM WAS GOOD AND THE BREAKFAST EXCELLANT
I DID NOT THINK THE STANDARD ROOM VIEW WAS VERY ATTRACTIVE AND WAS DISSAPOINTED I ALSO THINK THE ROOM WAS OVER PRICED. THE EVENING MEAL WAS NOT ENJOYABLE.
