The room was next to a balti restaurant so there was a pungent smell of curry.

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"Perfect location, quiet and adequate accomodation but lack of good practise with regard to hygiene make a return impossible." (107698287)
Price was fair, location good. Quiet room
Kitchen staff drinking out of carton (fruit juice) as we passed by. Room unclean, no evidence of recent cleaning. Lack of good practise in dining room; staff with long hair (not tied back) serving breakfast.Unable to get out of hotel without using emergency exit at 8.00am!. Other guests commented that they had stayed in hotel many times before but would not return again on grounds of cleanliness.

This is the worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune to stay in,shame we had already paid in advance. The location ,in the middle of a council housing estate should be mentioned on the web site .Will NOT be using your web site again.

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"Would not return although it was cheap and the staff were friendly." (107112611)
Friendly staff
Had to check in at the bar counter as there was no sign of any reception. My room was clean(ish) but had stained carpet, very poor shower and toilet facilities - old and dirty. Towles were clean but old. The room smelt strongly of the restaurant underneath. Could hear every word from the guests next door.

Dirty and badly maintained, access corridors cluttered with old furniture. Shower thermostat not working, matted carpets, smelly breakfast room, no VAT invoice until demanded.

Not a bad cooked breakfast and the curry house do a super curry
Very noisy till gone 1 am, you could smell curry in the room when you awoke in the morning, tv had very bad reception with no remote control, bathroom door had to be propped shut with the bin, you are unable to sit on the toilet correctly you had to sit sideways due to the location of the sink, the carpet in the room was full of stains, the shower was dark,

Clean airy room with fresh towels daily, and mostly very good breakfasts.
The final Sunday a.m. was a disaster, no places set for breakfast, and little choice. We suspect a staff problem occurred which appeared to have been rectified when we returned the following week-end.

Simple warm and cost effective
No late night entry facility despite note in room sayin there was one. Slight curry smell through upper floors coudl be unsettling, yet understand why.

The staff who served me breakfast were polite and the food that they served was fine.
Dirty, tired accommodation and inexperienced staff who had no idea about how to care for guests.

Good on-site Indian restaurant and decent breakfast.
Room and fittings very old and need of updating. Primative small bathroom, bedding old and not 'hotel' quality.

Also the only food available at this hotel was Indian to which I am allergic, this was not made clear in the advert. I was not happy with this hotel and stayed elsewhere." (97481076)

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is scruffy and in a fairly rough area. It is essentially a pub crossed with a Balti house. The room was grubby and smelled damp. The shower room was too small and not very clean. The breakfast was good, but I had to eat in the main bar area next to a pool table." (99558542)
It was convenient to the motorway
The shabbiness and the smell in the bedroom

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"The staff were very good although a bit of information about the fire alarm going off at 5:00am would have been helpful. At least I know it worked even though it was presumably a false alarm. The worst bit was the lack of sound insulation between the room and the bar. One of the customers was quite vocal until well after midnight. The food however was good - a great breakfast." (99590928)
Price and location - attending a conference at the NEC
The noise from the bar which went on well after midnight. The smoke smell.

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"That the hotel was empty except for us, it was over an Indian Restaurant (our room was over the kitchen) and the smell was really strong." (99886180)
The breakfast was good when we eventually got it
The door wouldn't lock, the bathroom door wouldn't shut, the toilet was up against the wall sideways with the toilet brush on the sink! We had to find clean cups etc and request toilet rolls, t.bags etc.

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"Check out was too early. If you are staying for one night then generally I would assume most people do not want to get up at before 9am on a Sunday to get washed, dressed and packed in time to have breakfast and check out. It kind of defeats the object of a relaxing time especially if you had a late night...We decided against breakfast for this reason. The bar staff and locals were friendly so this was a plus. There is an ajoining balti house which has lovely food but the dishes they served in were noticeably grimey. This put us off finishing what was otherwise a lovely meal with again friendly staff." (99849573)
The beams in the room....The staff.
The inside of the kettle was disgusting. The room overall was not clean. The bathroom was particularly bad hence the reason we did not use it which wasn't very nice for us in the morning.

Fosters Yard Hotel, Polesworth - Reviews & Ratings"There was no uniformity of staff knowledge, where to eat breakfast times etc. Apart from the cleaners on the Monday morning who were excellent but had not been told we were there!.Breakfast at the weekend was served by a young girl in her anorak, nothing was laid on the tables and we had to find our own cereal bowls glasses etc. We ate breakfast in the Indian resturant which is part of the Hotel. So hope you can stomach the smell of curry at 09.00." (99250743)
It was adequate clean & comfortable
Lack of information as to timetables of breakfast etc.No remote for the TV and heating too hot.
