The staff were all polite and helpful. Stunning quiet location with extensive grounds. Breakfast was good.
Supper on Saturday evening was a £20.00 buffet affair ending at 9.30 pm. I arrived to eat at 9.00pm and found the food was tepid if not cold, and was pretty mediocre; which was a shame because the staff were very good. It is somewhat of a disappointment when you find that you are not in the lovely main hotel but in a fairly new build, to which one must first navigate the labyrinthine corridors. You really do need the map handed out at reception! However, although small, I cannot complain about the room or facilities.

Had barfood to the room, it was digusting. Room dirty. Asked to upgrade room before I checked in, and was told there was a 'larger' room, but it was further away? Room was boiling hot- couldn't find anyway of controlling temperature.

had no idea it was a conference centre!! a wedding was in progress so restaurant was closed to residents and a limited menu was put on in a partitioned off room (no ambiance) we booked at a bistro 15minutes taxi away

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would have given a good but for the points below.
It seems to be the wrong time to be telling someone at "check-in" there is two wedding receptions taking place. No indication what this mean't to us. The second point is to do with the noisy wedding guests. Why were we in a room in the same location as the wedding party guests. When they left the reception we had to put up with all their excitement and chatter etc. until 01:00 or there abouts.

Very nice surroundings Very accomodating staff. The matre de for dinner last Saturday night was very helpfuyl to my pregnant wife regarding diet and sandwiches overnight.
Dinner was served in the conference room as there was a wedding and birthday going on. Very strange atmosphere and surrouundings for dinner

Beautiful area and stunning entrance. Good view of the cows out of the bedroom window. Great breakfast selection.
Waited ages to check in and then the 'system was slow'. The hotel looks amazing, until you have a 10 minute trek to your room in a maze of corridors, with all of your bags, to find what looks like a room from a cheap IBIS, Travel Inn or Travelodge room. Very basic for a 4 star. No minibar. Almost forced to share a table of 10 with people you have never met before. Very odd!! Luckily, we managed to move to a table set for dinner.

No extra bed on arrival, 1 towel for 3 people, dirty tea cups, no newspaper delivered, dirty cups on 2nd day, only 1 of the 2 keys provided worked

Staff in restuarnt well trained. The young lad in the lounge went to great lenghts to ensure we got coffee and tea in the lounge.
cannot hide the fact this is a very large conference hotel,not a leisure hotel. Lounge on the scale of terminal 5 at heathrow.

lovely building and grounds
the room was tiny and about 3 miles from reception. it is a new addition to the hall and not what you expect when booking. the resteraunt only did 2 or 3 course meals. no bar meals or lighter options.

Nice reception building. The pub in the nearby village.
Hotel caters for large wedding parties. Sleeping rooms are not in the nice country house reception building. Restaurant was shut. Bar meals not available due to 'electrical fault in the kitchen'. Normal guests and wedding party guests given rooms on same floor / in same corridor. Very long corridor from reception to rooms, not easy with big suitcases.

We were disappointed that dinner was not available on the Friday or Saturday evening, as the breakfasts were lovely and the dining room immaculate. Very pleasant surroundings, lovely food, helpful staff. Good well lit large carpark with security cameras.
Difficult to find room, expensive bar, no dinner available on Friday or Sat evening, noisy rooms - you could hear the people next door very clearly.

Everything clean, staff very polite
The photos give an impression of stayng in a period country hotel. However, the rooms are in a modern annexe out the back. I feel this is misleading, although nevertheless feel the price paid represents value for money. The Manor Bar (to which we were restricted due to a wedding party) could do with some more tables. We ate a bar meal on our laps.

Beautiful grounds and main hotel. Dinner was great.
Room walls are paper thin. You can hear everything from the next room. The room was freezing. Breakfast was adequate. Nothing to write home about. There was a wedding on the Saturday night. Front desk did not offer anywhere as an alternate for dinner. The bed was shocking. It caved in towards the middle.

Hotel staff very friendly
TV in room very poor, bath in poor condition. Hotel room small. Sunday morning breakfast did not have same selection and standard of food as Saturday. No twin rooms in hotel, two older teenage sons had to share double bed.

Arrived late on Sunday night, very near to restaurant closing time yet the staff put together a meal for me - exceptional service.
Layout of the hotel took some getting used to; room was a little small but for one night and one person is not really an issue.

Having stayed on a number of occasions the availability and order process for meals in the bar is very inconsistent. An annoyance rather than a problem.

Horwood House, Winslow - Reviews & Ratings"We arrived after a long drive on the friday night, it would have been enjoyable to relax and savour a leisurely meal in the restaurant. However only a poor choice of bar meals was available which took a long time to order and receive. The room we used was a very long walk from the reception area up and down stairs and hrough numerous fire doors. This was irritating when we needed to fetch things from our car in the car park. Although we are neither old or disabled theere was no comment on the location of the rooms on the website. I feel anyone with any physical difficulty would have enormous challenges using you hotel. However for a conference centre it is no doubt ideal not relly aimed at the leisure user or holidaymaker." (97863354)

Main reason for staying was the good deal and would be back again if the deal were to be repeated. Stayed here many years ago for a conference/training and didn't recognise the place. I must say this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in for cleanliness and comfort. The breakfast was excellent and we could not have asked for more.
It was a little difficult to find your way about without a map.

Your staff were friendly and the breakfast was more than adequate.
The inside of the hotel was drab and dreary, it felt more like an old peoples home, the evening menu had little to choose from and our room was freezing as the heating did not work.
