Excellent breakfast; decent sized room; clean and tidy but for mould in bathroom - not acceptable. Lighting a bit gloomy. TV unexplained and difficult to work out. General air of being a bit untidy.

Breakfast adequate
Check in took 20 minutes as key to room was lost. No information was taken from me concerning who I was, adress, name etc. I was just, eventually, given a master key to my room on the basis of saying I was Mr T Atkin. TV didn't work properly in the bedroom. The bathroom was not clean and the shower support was broken and the soap dish hung off the wall. On Sunday night the bar and reception was closed and locked at 9.00 pm when we would have liked to stay for a drink.

Reasonably comfortable,staff were pleasant and efficient.
Partition walls between bedrooms meant we could hear the conversation of the people next door and their television. Plumbing was noisy.

Excellent room - we were upgraded to the best suite in the hotel. Breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh toast and coffee as well as a first class full English cooked breakfast.
A little dissapointed with the carvery meal although the quality of the meat was very good with a very acceptable glass of Chilean merlot.

Building interesting, would have been nice to have details about it. Size of room good, decor interesting! Staff generally friendly would have helped if they knew information about local area or had leaflets available.
Could not pay for evening meal on bill for room had to pay separately and unable to pay by credit card as reader not working. Breakfast poor. No orange juice, not buffet style as mentioned. Had clearly been prepared earlier and kept warm. Toast stale.

Buffet was good value for money and breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful in bar and restaurant.
We had booked 3 rooms (which had been confirmed) yet hotel only had 2 rooms ready saying only 2 had been booked by agent. The young man on reception was unhelpful, said he did not normally cover reception duties and that it was not his fault. Asked me to tell him which was the missing booking yet would not tell me which 2 rooms were booked so I could noty tell him which was the missing one. Also refused to check us in without seeing the booking confirmation first. Also one of our rooms had dirty milk jug and incomplete tea making items on arrival although this was put right when highlighted.

Exceeded expectations.Warm welcome,good room,excellent food in both restaurant and nearby Tea Room .Easy access onto Downs.Didn't overcharge for Goodwood weekend.
We were informed that our room had become unavailable the day before we were due to travel.Problem was resolved next day and our stay went ahead as planned.

Room comfortable and warm. Peaceful and quiet. Glorious surroundings, wonderful for walking. Easy access to friends and relatives whom we were visiting.
Rather disappointing meals on the first evening and lunch time of second day of stay. The carvery was really rather second rate. Breakfasts were better.

easy to find, looked nice, spacious rooms.
Staff attitude was really off, (we were there for a funeral) we were the only group in the restauraunt (8 People). We felt hurried and they didn't want us to be there, we felt very uncomfortable, there was no starter, they started cleaning and clearing up before we had finished, unfortunate as it was a nice looking place. It was probably the end off a long day BUT we were the customers and travelled along way to be there. There was also some problem with staff noice at night (I complained to the staff and it went quite) and a smell of something other than cigarettes was apparent.

The managers were extremely helpful and pleasant. We were given an upgrade which was welcome as we had come for a family funeral. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful - the carvery was the best I have ever had Breakfast was superb

The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, it made my stay a real pleasure. As I have already mentioned the hotel is such a beautiful building in such a beautiful retreat - a real bonus, it just needs an interior make over." (97321401)
The historic nature of the hotel and idylic setting, the grounds and private spot was beautiful - so unspoilt.
The interior decor was really tired, and in need of some investment in keeping with the period of the property, naturally.

Highdown Hotel & Restaurant, Worthing - Reviews & Ratings"Highdown gardens behind the hotel are well worth strooling around, leave yourself plenty of time, also less than five minutes away you can access the downs for a lovely walk I would have loved more time for a really long walk. I would have liked to know that there was a posibility if checking in before 3pm if the room was empty as we did just walk aroung worthing as we had travelled a long way and arrived earlier than expected. The overall situation of the hotel is lovely even close to a vineyard that is I believe is open 11 to 4 friday and saturday. we will definitely return to this hotel" (97189354)

The accommodation is a splendid conversion away from the main building ensuring peace and quiet at all times. The rooms are good sized, substantial and comfortable with all the equipment including fixtures working perfectly.
